Isaías 20

1 El año cuando el Tartán vino a Asdod enviado por Sargón, rey de Asiria, la atacó y la conquistó.

In the year of the coming in of Tartan to Ashdod, when Sargon king of Asshur sendeth him, and he fighteth against Ashdod, and captureth it,

2 En aquel tiempo Yavé habló por medio de Isaías, hijo de Amoz: Vé, despójate de la tela áspera que tienes en la cintura y quita las sandalias de tus pies. Lo hizo así y andaba desnudo y descalzo.

at that time spake Jehovah by the hand of Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, 'Go, and thou hast loosed the sackcloth from off thy loins, and thy sandal thou dost draw from off thy foot,' and he doth so, going naked and barefoot.

3 Después Yavé dijo: Así como mi esclavo Isaías anduvo desnudo y descalzo tres años como señal y pronóstico contra Egipto y Etiopía,

And Jehovah saith, 'As My servant Isaiah hath gone naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder for Egypt and for Cush,

4 el rey de Asiria conducirá a los cautivos de Egipto y a los desterrados de Etiopía, jóvenes y ancianos, desnudos y descalzos, con las nalgas descubiertas, para vergüenza de Egipto.

so doth the king of Asshur lead the captivity of Egypt, and the removal of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot, with seat uncovered — the nakedness of Egypt;

5 Entonces serán atemorizados y avergonzados por causa de Etiopía, su esperanza, y de Egipto, su jactancia.

and they have been affrighted and ashamed of Cush their confidence, and of Egypt their beauty,

6 Aquel día el habitante de esta costa dirá: ¡Miren! ¡Esto es lo que sucedió a aquellos en los cuales confiábamos y esperábamos, a los cuales huiríamos en busca de auxilio para que nos libraran del rey de Asiria! [Ahora], ¿cómo escaparemos?

and the inhabitant of this isle hath said in that day — Lo, thus [is] our trust, Whither we have fled for help, To be delivered from the king of Asshur, And how do we escape — we?'
