Hebreos 12
1 Por tanto también nosotros, quienes tenemos una nube tan grande de testigos alrededor de nosotros, despojémonos de todo impedimento y pecado que nos atrapa tan fácilmente. Corramos con paciencia la carrera que tenemos por delante.
Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
2 Fijemos nuestros ojos en Jesús, el Autor y Perfeccionador de la fe, Quien despreció el oprobio, sufrió [la] cruz y se sentó a [la] derecha del trono de Dios, porque sabía el gozo que tenía delante de Él.
looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Así que consideren al que soportó tal hostilidad de pecadores contra Él mismo, a fin de que su ánimo no se canse hasta desmayar.
For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you do not grow weary, fainting in your souls.
4 Aún no resistieron hasta derramar sangre al oponerse al pecado,
You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin.
5 y olvidaron la exhortación que les habla como a hijos: Hijo mío, no menosprecies la disciplina del Señor, Ni te desalientes cuando te reprenda.
You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, do not take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;
6 Porque el Señor disciplina al que ama Y castiga al que recibe como hijo.
for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7 Soporten la disciplina. Dios los trata como a hijos, porque ¿a cuál hijo no disciplina su padre?
It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
8 Pero si a ustedes no se les aplica disciplina, como todos la recibieron, entonces no son hijos verdaderos sino ilegítimos.
But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children.
9 Además, tuvimos a nuestros padres terrenales quienes nos disciplinaban y los respetábamos. ¿No nos someteremos mucho más al Padre de los espíritus para que vivamos?
Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
10 Y ellos ciertamente nos disciplinaron por pocos días según lo que les parecía, pero la disciplina de Dios es para lo provechoso, a fin de que participemos de su santidad.
For they indeed for a few days disciplined us as seemed good to them, but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.
11 Ciertamente ninguna disciplina al momento es motivo de gozo, sino de tristeza, pero después da fruto apacible de justicia a los que fueron formados por medio de ella.
All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
12 Por tanto levanten las manos debilitadas y las rodillas paralizadas,
Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,
13 y hagan sendas derechas para sus pies, a fin de que lo cojo no se disloque, sino sea sanado.
and make straight paths for your feet, so what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
14 Sigan la paz y la santidad con todos, sin las cuales nadie verá al Señor.
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,
15 Vigilen, no sea que alguno deje de alcanzar la gracia de Dios, que al brotar alguna raíz de amargura, les estorbe, y por ella muchos sean contaminados,
looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and many be defiled by it,
16 no sea que haya algún inmoral sexual o profano, como Esaú, quien vendió su primogenitura por una comida.
lest there be any sexually immoral person or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.
17 Porque saben ustedes que después, aunque deseaba heredar la bendición, fue rechazado porque no halló oportunidad de cambio de mente, aunque la buscó con lágrimas.
For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with tears.
18 Pues ustedes no se acercaron a la montaña que se podía palpar y que ardía en fuego, ni a oscuridad y tiniebla, ni a la tempestad,
For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,
19 ni al sonido de una trompeta, ni a tal ruido de palabras que los que lo oyeron suplicaron que no se les hablara Palabra,
the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which those who heard it begged that not one more word should be spoken to them,
20 porque no soportaban lo que se decía. Aun si una bestia tocaba la montaña era apedreada.
for they could not stand that which was commanded, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned”.
21 Tan terrible era el espectáculo que Moisés dijo: Estoy aterrado y tiemblo.
So fearful was the appearance that Moses said, “I am terrified and trembling.”
22 Ustedes, en cambio, se acercaron a la Montaña Sion, a la ciudad del Dios vivo, la Jerusalén celestial, a muchos millares de ángeles,
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,
23 a la congregación de inscritos en [los] cielos, a Dios, el Juez de todos, a espíritus de justos perfeccionados,
to the festal gathering and assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 a Jesús, el Mediador del Nuevo Pacto, y a su sangre rociada que habla mejor que la de Abel.
to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.
25 Miren que no desechen al que habla. Porque si no escaparon aquellos que desecharon al que los amonestaba en la tierra, mucho menos nosotros [escaparemos] si nos apartamos del que nos habla desde [los] cielos,
See that you do not refuse him who speaks. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,
26 cuya voz entonces sacudió la tierra, pero ahora prometió: Una vez más Yo sacudiré no solo la tierra sino también el cielo.
whose voice shook the earth then, but now he has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens.”
27 Esta frase: una vez más, indica la remoción de las cosas movibles, como cosas hechas, para que permanezcan las inconmovibles.
This phrase, “Yet once more” signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
28 Por cuanto recibimos un reino inconmovible, mostremos gratitud a Dios de manera aceptable con reverencia y temor,
Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let’s have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,
29 porque nuestro Dios es fuego consumidor.
for our God is a consuming fire.
