Habacuc 1
1 La profecía que vio el profeta Habacuc. Diálogo de reclamo.
The burden that Habakkuk the prophet has seen:
2 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh Yavé, clamaré y no escuchas? Grito a Ti: ¡Violencia! Pero no salvas.
Until when, O YHWH, have I cried, And You do not hear? I cry to You, “Violence!” And You do not save.
3 ¿Por qué me muestras iniquidad y haces que mire la perversidad? Destrucción y violencia hay delante de mí, y surge lucha y contención.
Why do You show me iniquity, And cause [me] to behold perversity? And spoiling and violence [are] before me, And there is strife, and contention lifts [itself] up,
4 Por eso la Ley no tiene poder y la justicia no prevalece. El perverso encierra al justo, de modo que la justicia resulta pervertida.
Therefore law ceases, And judgment does not go forth forever, For the wicked is surrounding the righteous, Therefore wrong judgment goes forth.
5 Miren las naciones y observen. Sean asombrados, porque Yo haré una obra en sus días que, aun cuando se la cuenten, no la creerían.
“Look on nations, and behold and marvel greatly. For a work He is working in your days, You do not believe though it is declared.
6 Ciertamente levanto a los caldeos, pueblo cruel e impetuoso que marcha por la anchura de la tierra para poseer poblaciones ajenas.
For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, The bitter and hasty nation, That is going to the broad places of earth, To occupy dwelling places not his own.
7 Terribles y temibles, de ellos mismos procede su justicia y su dignidad.
He [is] terrible and fearful, His judgment and his excellence go forth from him.
8 Sus caballos son más veloces que leopardos y más feroces que lobos nocturnos. Su caballería galopa y viene. Sus jinetes vienen de lejos. Vuelan como un águila cuando se precipita sobre la presa.
His horses have been swifter than leopards, And sharper than evening wolves, And his horsemen have increased, Even his horsemen from afar come in, They fly as an eagle, hastening to consume.
9 Todos ellos vienen a hacer violencia. Sus caras están vueltas con afán hacia adelante. Recogen cautivos como arena.
All for violence—he comes in, Their faces swallowing up the east wind, And he gathers a captivity as the sand.
10 Se burlan de los reyes, se mofan de sus jefes y se ríen de toda fortaleza. Levantan terraplén y la conquistan.
And he scoffs at kings, And princes [are] a laughter to him, He laughs at every fortification, And he heaps up dust, and captures it.
11 Luego ellos pasarán como huracán y ofenderán al atribuir su fuerza a su ʼeloha.
Then the spirit has passed on, Indeed, he transgresses, And [ascribes] this—his power—to his god.”
12 ¡Oh Yavé, ʼElohim mío y Santo mío! No moriremos. Tú, Oh Yavé, los escogiste para juzgar, y Tú, oh Roca, los estableciste para corregir.
Are You not of old, O YHWH, my God, my Holy One? We do not die, O YHWH, You have appointed him for judgment, And, O Rock, You have founded him for reproof.
13 Tus ojos son demasiado puros para aprobar el mal y no puedes contemplar la perversidad. ¿Por qué guardas silencio cuando el perverso destruye al que es más justo que él?
Purer of eyes than to behold evil, You are not able to look on perverseness, Why do You behold the treacherous? You keep silent when the wicked Swallow the more righteous than he,
14 ¿Por qué tratas a los hombres como a los peces del mar, como reptiles que no tienen amo?
And You make man as fishes of the sea, As a creeping thing [with] none ruling over him.
15 A todos ellos los sacan con anzuelo, los atrapan en su red y los juntan con su red barredera, por lo cual se alegran y se regocijan.
He has brought up each of them with a hook, He catches it in his net, and gathers it in his dragnet, Therefore he delights and rejoices.
16 Por esto hacen sacrificio a su red y ofrendan a su red barredera, porque por ellas su porción es abundante y suculenta su comida.
Therefore he sacrifices to his net, And makes incense to his dragnet, For by them [is] his portion fertile, and his food fat.
17 ¿Por tanto, seguirá vaciando su red sin cesar? ¿Seguirá aniquilando a las naciones sin compasión?
Does he therefore empty his net, And continually not spare to slay nations?
