Génesis 42
1 Jacob, al considerar que había grano en Egipto, dijo a sus hijos: ¿Por qué se miran unos a otros?
When Iacob sawe that there was corne to be solde in Egipte he sayde vnto his sones: why are ye negligent?
2 Y añadió: Miren, oí que hay grano en Egipto. Bajen allá y compren algo para nosotros a fin de que vivamos y no muramos.
beholde I haue hearde that there is corne to be solde in Egipte. Gete you thither and bye vs corne fro thece that we maye lyue and not dye.
3 Bajaron, pues, diez de los hermanos de José a comprar grano en Egipto.
So went Iosephs ten brethern doune to bye corne in Egipte
4 Pero Jacob no envió a Benjamín, hermano de José, con sus hermanos, porque dijo: No sea que le ocurra alguna calamidad.
for Ben Iamin Iosephs brother wold not Iacob sende with his other brethren: for he sayde: some mysfortune myght happen him
5 Así que los hijos de Israel fueron a comprar grano entre los que iban, pues la hambruna estaba en la tierra de Canaán.
And the sonnes of Israell came to bye corne amonge other that came for there was derth also in the lande of Canaan.
6 José era el gobernante del país, el que vendía a todo el pueblo de la tierra. Entonces los hermanos de José llegaron y se postraron ante él con su rostro en tierra.
And Ioseph was gouerner in the londe and solde corne to all the people of the londe. And his brethren came and fell flatt on the grounde before him.
7 José vio a sus hermanos y los reconoció, pero fingió ser un extraño para ellos, y les habló duramente. Y les preguntó: ¿De dónde vinieron? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán a comprar alimento.
When Ioseph sawe his brethern he knewe them: But made straunge vnto them and spake rughly vnto them saynge: Whence come ye? and they sayde: out of the lande of Canaan to bye vitayle.
8 Así que José reconoció a sus hermanos, pero ellos no lo reconocieron.
Ioseph knewe his brethern but they knewe not him.
9 Al acordarse José de los sueños que tuvo con respecto a ellos, los acusó: ¡Ustedes son espías! ¡Vinieron para ver lo desprotegido del país!
And Ioseph remembred his dreames which he dreamed of them and sayde vnto them: ye are spies and to se where the lande is weake is youre comynge.
10 Pero ellos le contestaron: No, ʼadón nuestro, tus esclavos vinimos a comprar alimento.
And they sayde vnto him: nay my lorde: but to bye vitayle thy seruauntes are come.
11 Todos nosotros somos hijos de un mismo hombre. Somos honestos. Tus esclavos no somos espías.
We are all one mans sonnes and meane truely and thy seruauntes are no spies.
12 Pero él les dijo: ¡No! Vinieron a ver lo desprotegido del país.
And he sayde vnto them: nay verely but euen to se where the land is weake is youre comynge.
13 Entonces ellos respondieron: Tus esclavos somos 12 hermanos, hijos de un varón de la tierra de Canaán, y mira, el menor está hoy con nuestro padre, y el otro desapareció.
And they sayde: we thi seruauntes are. xij. brethern the sonnes of one man in the lande of Canaan. The yongest is yet with oure father and one no man woteth where he is.
14 Pero José les dijo: Es lo que les digo: ¡Son espías!
Ioseph sayde vnto them that is it that I sayde vnto you that ye are surelye spies.
15 En esto serán probados: Vive Faraón, que no saldrán de aquí hasta cuando venga aquí su hermano menor.
Here by ye shall be proued. For by the lyfe of Pharao ye shall not goo hence vntyll youre yongest brother be come hither.
16 Envíen a uno de ustedes para que traiga a su hermano. Entre tanto, queden ustedes detenidos y sean comprobadas sus palabras, si hay verdad en ustedes, y si no, ¡vive Faraón, que son espías!
Sende therfore one off you and lett him fett youre brother and ye shalbe in preason in the meane season. And thereby shall youre wordes be proued whether there be any trueth in you: or els by the lyfe of Pharao ye are but spies.
17 Y los envió todos juntos a la cárcel por tres días.
And he put them in warde thre dayes.
18 Pero al tercer día José les dijo: Hagan esto y vivirán. Yo temo a ʼElohim.
And Ioseph sayde vnto the the thryd daye: This doo and lyue for I feare Gode
19 Si son honestos, uno de los hermanos quede encarcelado mientras los demás van y llevan el grano para el hambre de sus familias.
Yf ye meane no hurte let one of youre brethern be bounde in the preason and goo ye and brynge the necessarie foode vnto youre housholdes
20 Pero me traerán a su hermano menor para que sus palabras sean verificadas, y no morirán. E hicieron así.
and brynge youre yongest brother vnto me: that youre wordes maye be beleved ad that ye dye not And they did so.
21 Cada cual decía a su hermano: Ciertamente somos culpables por nuestro hermano, pues vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no lo escuchamos. Por eso vino sobre nosotros esta angustia.
Than they sayde one to a nother: we haue verely synned agaynst oure brother in that we sawe the anguysh of his soull when he besought us and wold not heare him: therfore is this troubyll come apon us.
22 Entonces Rubén les respondió: ¿No les hablé: No pequen contra el muchacho? Pero no me escucharon, y ahora, ciertamente, nos es demandada su sangre.
Ruben answered the saynge: sayde I not vnto you that ye shulde not synne agaynst the lad? but ye wolde not heare And now verely see his bloude is requyred.
23 Ellos no sabían que José entendía, porque había un traductor entre ellos.
They were not aware that Ioseph vnderstode them for he spake vnto them by an interpreter.
24 Entonces él se apartó y lloró. Después volvió a ellos y les habló, y al tomar de entre ellos a Simeón, lo ató delante de ellos.
And he turned from them and wepte and than turned to them agayne ad comened with them and toke out Simeon from amonge the and bownde him before their eyes
25 Entonces José ordenó que llenaran sus sacos de grano, devolvieran la plata de cada uno de ellos a su saco y les dieran provisiones para el camino. Y así se hizo con ellos.
ad commaunded to fyll their saekes wyth corne and to put euery mans money in his sacke and to geue them vitayle to spende by the waye. And so it was done to them.
26 Ellos cargaron su grano sobre sus asnos y salieron de allí.
And they laded their asses with the corne and departed thence.
27 Pero en la posada, al abrir uno de ellos su saco para dar forraje a su asno, vio que ahí estaba su dinero en la boca de su saco.
And as one of them opened his sacke for to geue his asse prauender in the Inne he spied his money in his sacks mouth
28 Dijo a sus hermanos: ¡Mi plata fue devuelta, y miren, está en mi saco! Entonces el corazón se les sobresaltó y espantados se dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Qué es esto que ʼElohim nos hizo?
And he sayde vnto his brethren: my money is restored me agayne and is eue in my sackes mouth Than their hartes fayled them and were astoynyed and sayde one to a nother: how cometh it that God dealeth thus with us?
29 Cuando llegaron a su padre Jacob en tierra de Canaán, le contaron todas las cosas que les sucedieron y dijeron:
And they came vnto Iacob their father vnto the lande of Canaan and tolde him all that had happened them saynge.
30 Aquel hombre, el ʼadón de aquella tierra nos habló cosas duras y nos trató como a espías de aquel país.
The lorde of the lade spake rughly to us and toke us for spyes to serche the countte.
31 Pero le dijimos: Nosotros somos honestos, no somos espías.
And we sayde vnto him: we meane truely and are no spies.
32 Somos 12 hermanos, hijos de nuestro padre, uno no aparece, y el menor está hoy con nuestro padre en la tierra de Canaán.
We be. xij. bretren sones of oure father one is awaye and the yongest is now with oure father in the lande of Canaan.
33 Aquel hombre, el ʼadón de aquella tierra, nos dijo: En esto sabré que ustedes son honestos. Dejen a uno de sus hermanos conmigo, y tomen grano para el hambre de sus familias y váyanse.
And the lorde of the countre sayde vnto us: here by shall I knowe yf ye meane truely: leaue one of youre brethern here with me and take foode necessary for youre housholdes and get you awaye
34 Tráiganme a su hermano menor, y así sabré que no son espías, que son honestos. Les devolveré a su hermano y podrán negociar en el país.
and brynge youre yongest brother vnto me And thereby shall I knowe that ye are no spyes but meane truely: So will I delyuer you youre brother agayne and ye shall occupie in the lande.
35 Sucedió que al vaciar ellos sus sacos, ahí estaba la bolsa de dinero de cada uno en su saco. Y al ver ellos y su padre las bolsas de dinero tuvieron temor.
And as they emptied their sackes beholde: euery mans bundell of money was in his sacke And when both they and their father sawe the bundells of money they were afrayde.
36 Entonces su padre Jacob les dijo: Ustedes me privaron de hijos: José ya no está, Simeón tampoco está, y quieren llevarse a Benjamín. ¡Todas estas cosas están contra mí!
And Iacob their father sayde vnto them: Me haue ye robbed of my childern: Ioseph is away and Simeon is awaye and ye will take Ben Iamin awaye. All these thinges fall vpon me.
37 Rubén habló a su padre: Ordena que mueran mis dos hijos si no te lo traigo. Entrégalo en mi mano, que yo te lo devolveré.
Ruben answered his father saynge: Slee my two sonnes yf I bringe him not to the agayne. Delyuer him therfore to my honde and I will brynge him to the agayne:
38 Pero él respondió: Mi hijo no bajará con ustedes, pues su hermano murió y quedó él solo. Si alguna desgracia le acontece en el camino por donde van, harán descender mis canas con dolor al Seol. (Sheol h7585)
And he sayde: my sonne shall not go downe with you. For his brother is dead and he is left alone Moreouer some mysfortune myght happen vpon him by the waye which ye goo. And so shuld ye brynge my gray head with sorowe vnto the graue. (Sheol h7585)
