Génesis 4
1 Adán se unió a su esposa Eva, y ella concibió. Dio a luz a Caín, y dijo: Adquirí un varón de parte de Yavé.
And the man knew Eve his wife: and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
2 Volvió a dar a luz, a su hermano Abel. Abel fue pastor de ovejas, y Caín fue labrador de la tierra.
And she bore again, his brother, Abel; and Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 Con el transcurso del tiempo, sucedió que Caín llevó a Yavé una ofrenda del fruto de la tierra.
And it came to pass in process of time, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground and offering unto the Lord.
4 También Abel llevó de los primerizos de su rebaño y de los más gordos de ellos. Yavé miró con agrado a Abel y a su ofrenda,
And Abel—he also brought of the firstlings of his flock, and of the fattest thereof; and the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering;
5 pero no miró con agrado a Caín ni la ofrenda suya. Y Caín se enfureció muchísimo, y decayó su semblante.
But unto Cain and to his offering he had no respect; and it was very displeasing to Cain, and his countenance fell.
6 Entonces Yavé dijo a Caín: ¿Por qué te enfureciste, y por qué decayó tu semblante?
And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 Si haces lo bueno, ¿no serás enaltecido? Pero si no haces lo bueno, el pecado acecha a la puerta. Su deseo ardiente va contra ti, pero tú debes dominarlo.
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door; and unto thee is its desire, but thou canst rule over it.
8 Caín habló a su hermano Abel: Vayamos al campo. Y él fue. Pero sucedió que cuando estaban ellos en el campo, Caín se levantó contra su hermano Abel y lo asesinó.
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 Entonces Yavé preguntó a Caín: ¿Dónde está tu hermano Abel? Y él respondió: No sé. ¿Soy yo guardián de mi hermano?
And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel they brother? and he said, I know not; am I my brother's keeper?
10 Pero Él dijo: ¿Qué hiciste? ¡La voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a Mí desde la tierra!
And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11 Ahora, ¡maldito seas tú por la tierra que ensanchó su boca para recibir de tu mano la sangre de tu hermano!
And now be thou cursed from the ground, which hath opened its mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand:
12 Cuando trabajes la tierra no te dará su fuerza. Errante y fugitivo serás en la tierra.
When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield its strength unto thee; fugitive and vagabond shalt thou be on the earth.
13 Y Caín respondió a Yavé: ¡Grande es mi castigo para soportarlo!
And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Si me expulsas hoy de sobre la superficie de la tierra, estaré oculto de tu presencia. Seré errante y fugitivo en la tierra y sucederá que cualquiera que me encuentre, me asesinará.
Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the ground; and from thy face shall I be hid; and if I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, it will come to pass, that every one that findeth me will slay me.
15 Entonces Yavé le dijo: Ciertamente cualquiera que mate a Caín, siete veces será castigado. Y Yavé puso una señal a Caín a fin de que no lo asesinara cualquiera que lo encontrara.
And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him seven-fold. And the Lord set a sign unto Cain, that any one finding him should not kill him.
16 Caín salió de la Presencia de Yavé y se estableció en la tierra de Nod, al oriente de Edén.
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 Caín se unió a su esposa. Ella concibió y dio a luz a Enoc. Caín edificó una ciudad y le dio el nombre de su hijo Enoc.
And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and bore Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son Enoch.
18 A Enoc le nació Irad, e Irad engendró a Mejuyael, y Mejuyael engendró a Metusael, y Metusael engendró a Lamec.
And unto Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begat Mechujael: and Mechujael begat Methushael; and Methushael begat Lemech.
19 Lamec tomó para él dos esposas: el nombre de la primera era Ada, y el nombre de la segunda, Zila.
And Lemech took unto himself two wives, the name of one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 Ada dio a luz a Jabal, quien fue antepasado de los que habitan en tiendas y crían ganado.
And Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and have cattle.
21 El nombre de su hermano era Jubal, quien fue antepasado de todos los que tocan arpa y flauta.
And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all such as play on the harp and guitar.
22 También Zila dio a luz a Tubal Caín, forjador de toda herramienta de bronce y de hierro. La hermana de Tubal Caín fue Naama.
And Zillah, she also bore Tubal-cain, an artificer in every article of copper and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
23 Lamec dijo a sus esposas: Ada y Zila: ¡Escuchen mi voz! Esposas de Lamec, Presten oído a mi dicho: Que a un hombre maté porque me hirió, Y a un muchacho maté porque me golpeó.
And Lemech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; ye wives of Lemech, hearken unto my speech; for I have slain a man to my own wounding, and a young-man to my hurt.
24 Si siete veces es vengado Caín, 70 veces siete lo será Lamec.
If Cain shall be avenged seven-fold, truly Lemech seventy and seven-fold.
25 Adán se unió otra vez a su esposa. Ella dio a luz un hijo y lo llamó Set, porque pensó: ʼElohim me concedió otro descendiente en lugar de Abel, a quien Caín asesinó.
And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son, and called his name Sheth [[Seth]]; for God [said she] hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 A Set también le nació un hijo y lo llamó Enós. Entonces se comenzó a invocar el Nombre de Yavé.
And to Sheth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
