Génesis 30

1 Al ver Raquel que no daba hijos a Jacob, tuvo celos de su hermana y decía a Jacob: ¡Dame hijos o me muero!

And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said to Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.

2 Entonces la ira de Jacob se encendió contra Raquel y contestó: ¿Estoy yo en lugar de ʼElohim que te impide el fruto del vientre?

And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel; and he said, [Am] I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

3 Ella dijo: Aquí está mi esclava Bilha. Únete a ella, y que dé a luz sobre mis rodillas. Así también yo seré edificada por ella.

And she said, Behold, my maid Bilhah, go in to her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.

4 Le entregó a su esclava Bilha como mujer, y Jacob se unió a ella.

And she gave him Bilhah, her handmaid, for a wife: and Jacob went in to her.

5 Bilha concibió y dio a luz un hijo a Jacob.

And Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

6 Entonces Raquel dijo: ʼElohim me juzgó. También oyó mi voz y me dio un hijo. Por tanto lo llamó Dan.

And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore she called his name Dan.

7 Bilha, esclava de Raquel, concibió otra vez y dio a luz un segundo hijo a Jacob.

And Bilhah, Rachel's maid, conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.

8 Y Raquel dijo: Con gran conflicto luché contra mi hermana y vencí. Y lo llamó Neftalí.

And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.

9 Al ver Lea que cesó de dar a luz, tomó a su esclava Zilpa, y la dio a Jacob como mujer.

When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah, her maid, and gave her Jacob for a wife.

10 Zilpa, esclava de Lea, dio a luz un hijo a Jacob.

And Zilpah, Leah's maid, bore Jacob a son.

11 Entonces Lea dijo: ¡Vino la ventura! Y lo llamó Gad.

And Leah said, A troop cometh: and she called his name Gad.

12 Zilpa, esclava de Lea, dio a luz un segundo hijo a Jacob.

And Zilpah, Leah's maid, bore Jacob a second son.

13 Y Lea dijo: ¡Soy feliz! Porque las mujeres me llamarán dichosa. Y lo llamó Aser.

And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.

14 Durante la cosecha del trigo, Rubén fue y halló mandrágoras en el campo, y las llevó a su madre Lea. Y Raquel dijo a Lea: Te ruego que me des de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

And Reuben went, in the days of wheat-harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.

15 Y ella le contestó: ¿Te parece poco que me quitaste a mi esposo, y quieres llevarte las mandrágoras de mi hijo? Raquel respondió: Bueno, que se una contigo esta noche en pago por las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

And she said to her, [Is it] a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to-night for thy son's mandrakes.

16 Cuando Jacob regresaba del campo al llegar la noche, Lea le salió al encuentro, y dijo: Únete a mí, porque te alquilé formalmente por unas mandrágoras de mi hijo. Y se unió con ella aquella noche.

And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in to me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.

17 ʼElohim oyó a Lea, quien concibió y dio a luz un quinto hijo a Jacob.

And God hearkened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob the fifth son.

18 Y Lea dijo: ʼElohim me dio mi recompensa, por cuanto di mi esclava a mi esposo. Por eso lo llamó Isacar.

And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.

19 Lea concibió otra vez y dio a luz un sexto hijo a Jacob.

And Leah conceived again, and bore Jacob the sixth son.

20 Y Lea dijo: ʼElohim me dio buena dote. Porque le di a luz seis hijos, esta vez mi esposo vivirá conmigo. Y lo llamó Zabulón.

And Leah said, God hath endowed me [with] a good dower; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.

21 Después dio a luz una hija y la llamó Dina.

And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah.

22 ʼElohim se acordó de Raquel. ʼElohim la oyó y abrió su matriz.

And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and rendered her fruitful.

23 Concibió y dio a luz un hijo, y dijo: ʼElohim quitó mi afrenta.

And she conceived, and bore a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:

24 Lo llamó José y dijo: Añádame Yavé otro hijo.

And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD will add to me another son.

25 Aconteció que cuando Raquel dio a luz a José, Jacob dijo a Labán: Despídeme para que me vaya a mi lugar y a mi tierra.

And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, that I may go to my own place, and to my country.

26 Dame mis esposas y mis hijos por los cuales te serví, y me iré, pues tú bien sabes cuál es el trabajo que realicé para ti.

Give [me] my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and let me go: for thou knowest my service which I have done thee.

27 Pero Labán le respondió: Halle yo gracia ante tus ojos. Percibí que Yavé me bendijo por tu causa.

And Laban said to him, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thine eyes, [tarry: for] I have learned by experience, that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.

28 Y añadió: Señálame tu salario, y te lo pagaré.

And he said, Appoint me thy wages, and I will give [it].

29 Pero Jacob dijo: Tú mismo sabes lo que te serví y cómo estuvo tu ganado conmigo.

And he said to him, Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle were with me.

30 Pues poco tenías antes de mi venida, y aumentó mucho. Yavé te bendijo con mi presencia. Así que, ¿cuándo trabajaré yo por mi propia casa?

For [it was] little which thou hadst before I [came], and it is [now] increased to a multitude; and the Lord hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for my own house also?

31 Y él contestó: ¿Qué te daré? Y Jacob dijo: No me des algo. Volveré a apacentar tu rebaño si haces esto para mí:

And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shalt not give me any thing; if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed [and] keep thy flock:

32 Hoy pasaré por todo tu rebaño y separaré de entre las cabras y ovejas toda manchada y moteada, y toda oscura. Éstas serán mi salario.

I will pass through all thy flock to-day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and [of such] shall be my hire.

33 Así mañana, cuando vayas a comprobar mi salario, mi honradez responderá por mí: Todo lo que no sea moteado o manchado entre las cabras, o de color oscuro entre los corderos, se considerará hurtado por mí.

So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that [is] not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be accounted stolen with me.

34 Y Labán respondió: ¡Convenido! ¡Que sea como tú dices!

And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.

35 Sin embargo, aquel mismo día Labán separó todas las cabras y los machos cabríos manchados y moteados. Toda aquella que tenía algo de blanco y todos los corderos de color los entregó en manos de sus hijos.

And he removed that day the he-goats that were ring-streaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted; every one that had [some] white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave [them] into the hands of his sons.

36 Además interpuso tres días de camino entre él y Jacob. Y Jacob quedó y apacentaba el resto del rebaño de Labán.

And he set three days' journey between himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.

37 Entonces Jacob tomó varas verdes de álamo, de avellano y de castaño, y descortezó en ellas mondaduras blancas para descubrir así lo blanco de las varas.

And Jacob took to him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut-tree; and peeled white streaks in them, and made the white appear which [was] in the rods.

38 Puso las varas que descortezó en los abrevaderos, delante del rebaño en las canales de agua donde bebían las ovejas, las cuales se apareaban cuando iban a beber.

And he set the rods, which he had peeled, before the flocks in the gutters in the watering-troughs, when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.

39 Las ovejas se apareaban delante de las varas y parían borregos listados, moteados y manchados.

And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ring-streaked, speckled, and spotted.

40 Entonces Jacob separaba los corderos, y colocaba con su propio rebaño lo listado y todo lo que era oscuro en el rebaño de Labán. Él colocó su manada aparte y no la mezcló con el rebaño de Labán.

And Jacob separated the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks towards the ring-streaked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban: and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not with Laban's cattle.

41 Sucedía que cuantas veces se apareaban las robustas, Jacob colocaba las varas en los abrevaderos delante de las ovejas para que concibieran ante las varas.

And it came to pass, whenever the stronger cattle conceived, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.

42 En cambio, cuando las débiles llegaban, no las colocaba. Así las más débiles eran para Labán, y las más fuertes para Jacob.

But when the cattle were feeble, he put [them] not in: so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.

43 El hombre se enriqueció muchísimo y logró poseer numerosos rebaños, esclavas y esclavos, camellos y asnos.

And the man increased exceedingly, and had many cattle, and maid-servants, and men-servants, and camels, and asses.
