Génesis 2
1 Fueron hechos los cielos y la tierra, y toda su hueste.
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 En el día séptimo ʼElohim había acabado su labor que hizo. Descansó de toda su obra en el día séptimo.
And on the seventh day Elohim ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 ʼElohim bendijo el día séptimo y lo santificó, porque en él ʼElohim descansó de toda su obra que tenía para hacer.
And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which Elohim created and made.
4 Este fue el origen de los cielos y la tierra cuando fueron creados. El día en el cual Yavé ʼElohim hizo [la] tierra y [los] cielos
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that YHWH Elohim made the earth and the heavens,
5 no había aún alguna planta del campo. Ni brotaba aún en la tierra alguna hierba del campo, porque Yavé ʼElohim no había enviado lluvia sobre la tierra. Ni había hombre para que labrara el suelo.
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for YHWH Elohim had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 Pero subía de la tierra un vapor que regaba la superficie del suelo.
But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 Entonces Yavé ʼElohim modeló al hombre de la tierra roja, e insufló en su nariz aliento de vida. Y el hombre fue un ser viviente.
And YHWH Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 Yavé ʼElohim plantó un huerto al oriente de Edén, y colocó allí al hombre que creó.
And YHWH Elohim planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 Yavé ʼElohim hizo brotar de la tierra todo árbol agradable a la vista y bueno para comer. En medio del huerto estaba el árbol de la vida y el árbol del conocimiento del bien y del mal.
And out of the ground made YHWH Elohim to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10 Del Edén salía un río que regaba el huerto y desde allí se dividía en cuatro cauces.
And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11 El nombre del primero era Pisón. Éste es el que rodea toda la tierra de Havila, donde hay oro.
The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 El oro de aquella tierra es bueno. Allí hay ámbar y piedra ónice.
And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13 El nombre del segundo río era Guijón. Éste es el que rodea toda la tierra de Cus.
And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
14 El nombre del tercer río era Hidequel, que fluye al oriente de Asiria. Y el cuarto río era el Éufrates.
And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
15 Entonces Yavé ʼElohim tomó al hombre y lo puso en el huerto de Edén para que lo cultivara y lo guardara.
And YHWH Elohim took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 Yavé ʼElohim ordenó al hombre: De todo árbol del huerto puedes comer.
And YHWH Elohim commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 Pero del árbol del conocimiento del bien y del mal, no comerás de él, porque el día cuando comas de él, ciertamente morirás.
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18 Y Yavé ʼElohim dijo: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo. Le haré ayuda semejante a él.
And YHWH Elohim said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 Porque Yavé ʼElohim formó de la tierra toda bestia del campo y toda ave de los cielos, y los llevó al hombre para que viera cómo los llamaría. Así como el hombre llamó a cada ser viviente, ése es su nombre.
And out of the ground YHWH Elohim formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 El hombre dio nombres a todos los animales, a las aves del cielo y a toda bestia del campo. Pero para el hombre no se halló una ayuda semejante a él.
And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21 Entonces Yavé ʼElohim hizo caer al hombre en un sueño profundo. Y mientras dormía, tomó una de sus costillas y cerró la carne en su lugar.
And YHWH Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 De la costilla que Yavé ʼElohim tomó del hombre hizo una mujer, y la llevó al hombre.
And the rib, which YHWH Elohim had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 Y el hombre exclamó: ¡Ahora ésta es hueso de mis huesos y carne de mi carne! Por esto será llamada Varona, porque del varón fue tomada.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Por tanto el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre, se unirá a su esposa y serán una sola carne.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 El hombre y su esposa estaban ambos desnudos, y no se avergonzaban.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
