Gálatas 3
1 ¡Oh gálatas insensatos! ¡Ante sus ojos fue exhibido Jesucristo crucificado! ¿Quién los hechizó?
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you to keep you from obeying the truth? In your presence, before your very eyes, Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.
2 Solo esto quiero averiguar de ustedes: ¿Recibieron el Espíritu por [las ]obras de [la ]Ley, o por [la ]predicación de [la ]fe?
Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
3 ¿Son tan insensatos que después de comenzar [por el ]Espíritu, ahora son perfeccionados por [el] cuerpo?
Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now trying to be perfected by the flesh?
4 ¿Tantas cosas padecieron en vano? Si en verdad fue en vano.
Did you suffer so much in vain?—if indeed it was in vain.
5 El que les suministra el Espíritu y efectúa milagros entre ustedes, ¿[lo hace] por [las ]obras de [la ]Ley o por [la ]fe de [la ]predicación?
Does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you because you perform the works of the law or because you hear with faith?
6 Abraham creyó a Dios, y le fue tomado en cuenta como justicia.
Remember, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
7 Entonces sepan que éstos son [los ]hijos de Abraham: los de [la ]fe.
Therefore you must understand that those who have faith are the sons of Abraham.
8 La Escritura, al prever que Dios declara justos a [los ]gentiles por [la ]fe, proclamó con anticipación [las ]Buenas Noticias a Abraham: Todos los pueblos serán benditos en ti.
Now the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in yoʋ.”
9 Así que los de [la ]fe son benditos con el creyente Abraham.
So then, those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
10 Los que confían en [las ]obras de [la ]Ley están bajo maldición, pues está escrito: Maldito todo el que no permanece en todas las cosas que fueron escritas en el rollo de la Ley para hacerlas.
For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”
11 Es evidente que por [la ]Ley nadie es declarado justo delante de Dios, porque: El justo vivirá por [la ]fe.
Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, because “the righteous will live by faith.”
12 Pero [la] Ley no es por [la ]fe, sino: El que hizo estas cosas vivirá por ellas.
But the law is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The person who does these things will live by them.”
13 Cristo nos redimió de la maldición de la Ley al convertirse en maldición por nosotros, porque está escrito: Maldito todo el que es colgado en un madero,
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”
14 a fin de que la bendición de Abraham llegara a los gentiles por medio de Jesucristo, para que por medio de la fe recibiéramos la promesa del Espíritu.
He redeemed us so that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Hermanos, hablo como humano: Nadie anula o añade a un pacto que fue ratificado.
Brothers, let me give an example from everyday life: When a man-made covenant is ratified, no one annuls it or adds to it.
16 Pero las promesas fueron hechas a Abraham y a su descendencia. No dice: Y a sus descendencias, como de muchas, sino como de una: Y a su descendencia, la cual es Cristo.
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say, “And to his descendants,” referring to many, but referring to one man it says, “And to yoʋr descendant,” who is Christ.
17 Esto digo: La Ley que vino 430 años después no invalida un Pacto previamente ratificado por Dios, para anular la promesa.
My point is this: The law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul a covenant previously ratified by God to Christ, so as to invalidate the promise.
18 Porque si la herencia es por [la ]Ley, ya no es por [la ]promesa. Pero Dios se comprometió por medio de [la] promesa a Abraham.
For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by the promise; but God granted it to Abraham by a promise.
19 Entonces, ¿para qué [sirve] la Ley? Fue añadida por causa de las transgresiones hasta que viniera la Descendencia a la cual fue hecha la promesa. [La Ley] fue ordenada por medio de [los ]ángeles en mano de un mediador.
Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the descendant should come to whom the promise had been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.
20 El mediador no es de una sola [parte], pero Dios es Uno.
Now a mediator does not represent just one party, but God is one.
21 ¿Entonces la Ley está contra las promesas? ¡Claro que no! Porque si una Ley que puede dar vida fue dada, entonces la justicia sería verdaderamente por la Ley.
Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, truly righteousness would have come through the law.
22 Pero la Escritura encerró todas las cosas bajo [el ]pecado, para que la promesa de [la ]fe en Jesucristo fuera dada a los que creen.
But the Scripture has confined all under sin, so that the promise might be given on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ to those who believe.
23 Antes de venir la fe estábamos confinados, destinados bajo [la] Ley para la fe que estaba a punto de ser revelada.
Now before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined until the faith that was to come would be revealed.
24 Así que la Ley fue nuestro tutor hasta Cristo para que fuéramos declarados justos por [la ]fe.
The law, then, was our guardian until Christ came, so that we could be justified by faith.
25 Y como vino la fe, ya no estamos bajo tutor,
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,
26 porque todos [ustedes] son hijos de Dios por la fe en Cristo Jesús.
for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 Pues todos los que fueron bautizados en Cristo, se vistieron de Cristo.
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 No hay judío ni griego, no hay esclavo ni libre, no hay varón ni hembra. Porque todos ustedes son uno solo en Cristo Jesús.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 Si ustedes son de Cristo, entonces son descendencia de Abraham, herederos según [la ]promesa.
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants and heirs according to the promise.
