Ezequiel 19
1 Tú, levanta una lamentación por los gobernantes de Israel:
“As for you, take up a lament for the princes of Israel
2 ¡Qué madre la tuya! Era una leona entre leones. Crió sus cachorros tendida entre los leoncillos.
and say: ‘What was your mother? A lioness among the lions! She lay down among the young lions; she reared her cubs.
3 Crió a uno de sus cachorros hasta que fue leoncillo que aprendió a agarrar la presa y devoraba hombres.
She brought up one of her cubs, and he became a young lion. After learning to tear his prey, he devoured men.
4 Las naciones oyeron con respecto a él. Lo atraparon en la fosa y con grillos lo llevaron a la tierra de Egipto.
When the nations heard of him, he was trapped in their pit. With hooks they led him away to the land of Egypt.
5 Cuando vio que después de mucha espera había perdido su esperanza, tomó otro de sus cachorros, y lo desarrolló como leoncillo.
When she saw that she had waited in vain, that her hope was lost, she took another of her cubs and made him a young lion.
6 Merodeaba entre los leones, y se desarrolló hasta ser un león joven. Él aprendió también a desgarrar la presa y devoraba hombres.
He prowled among the lions, and became a young lion. After learning to tear his prey, he devoured men.
7 Hizo estragos en palacios y asoló ciudades. Quedó desolada la tierra y cuanto había en ella a causa del estruendo de sus rugidos.
He broke down their strongholds and devastated their cities. The land and everything in it shuddered at the sound of his roaring.
8 Las gentes que se reunieron de todos lados arremetieron contra él. Tendieron sus redes sobre él, y fue atrapado en la fosa de ellas.
Then the nations set out against him from the provinces on every side. They spread their net over him; he was trapped in their pit.
9 En una jaula y con grilletes lo llevaron al rey de Babilonia y lo metieron en una prisión, para que su rugido no se oyera más en las montañas de Israel.
With hooks they caged him and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into captivity so that his roar was heard no longer on the mountains of Israel.
10 Tu madre era como una vid en tu viña, plantada junto a las aguas. Era metida en una prisión llena de ramas a causa de la abundancia de aguas.
Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, planted by the water; it was fruitful and full of branches because of the abundant waters.
11 Ella produjo varas fuertes para cetros de soberanos. Se elevó su estatura entre las nubes. Era vista desde lejos por su altura y por sus numerosas ramas.
It had strong branches, fit for a ruler’s scepter. It towered high above the thick branches, conspicuous for its height and for its dense foliage.
12 Pero fue arrancada con furia y derribada a tierra. El viento de oriente secó su fruto. Sus fuertes ramas fueron quebradas. Se secaron y el fuego las consumió.
But it was uprooted in fury, cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were stripped off and they withered; the fire consumed them.
13 Y ahora está plantada en el desierto, en tierra seca y sedienta.
Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.
14 Una de sus ramas produjo el fuego que consumió su fruto. No queda en ella vara fuerte para cetros de soberanos. Ésta es una lamentación y se convirtió en una lamentación.
Fire has gone out from its main branch and devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a ruler’s scepter.’ This is a lament and shall be used as a lament.”
