Ezequiel 14
1 Entonces unos ancianos de Israel llegaron y se sentaron frente a mí.
Some elders of Israel arrived and sat down with me.
2 La Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:
A message from the Lord came to me, saying,
3 Hijo de hombre, estos hombres establecieron sus ídolos en sus corazones, y pusieron la piedra de tropiezo de su iniquidad delante de ellos mismos. ¿Debo ser consultado por ellos de algún modo?
“Son of man, these men are worshiping idols in their minds even though they know this will lead them to sin. Why should I respond to their requests?
4 Por tanto háblales: ʼAdonay Yavé dice: Cualquier hombre de la Casa de Israel que estableció ídolos en su corazón, puso la piedra de tropiezo de su iniquidad delante de él mismo y venga al profeta, Yo, Yavé, le responderé según sus numerosos ídolos,
So tell them that this is what the Lord God says: When the people of Israel worship idols in their minds that will lead them to sin, and then come to consult the prophet, I the Lord will give them an answer appropriate to their many idols.
5 a fin de atrapar a la Casa de Israel por el corazón, porque todos ellos se apartaron de Mí a causa de sus ídolos.
Like this I might have the people of Israel decide to recommit themselves to me. Right now, because of their idols, all of them treat me as their enemy.
6 Por tanto dí a la Casa de Israel: ʼAdonay Yavé dice: Regresen y conviértanse de sus ídolos. Aparten sus caras de todas sus repugnancias.
So tell the people of Israel that this is what the Lord God says: Repent! Give up worshiping your idols Stop all your disgusting practices.
7 Porque cualquiera de la Casa de Israel y de los extranjeros que están en Israel, que se aparta de Mí, establece sus ídolos en su corazón, pone delante de él la piedra de tropiezo de su iniquidad y [luego] acuda al profeta a preguntar por Mí, Yo, Yavé, personalmente le responderé.
When the people of Israel or foreigners living with them worship idols in their minds that will lead them to sin and then come to consult the prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself.
8 Pondré mi rostro contra ese hombre. Lo convertiré en una señal y en un dicho, y lo cortaré de mi pueblo. Y sabrán que Yo soy Yavé.
I will oppose anyone who does this and make any example of them that others will talk about. I will remove them from among my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
9 Si el profeta es seducido a decir alguna cosa, Yo, Yavé, seduje a ese profeta. Apuntaré mi furor contra él y lo destruiré de en medio de mi pueblo Israel.
But if the prophet is deceived into giving a message, it was I the Lord who deceived him to do this. I will still reach out and destroy that prophet from my people Israel.
10 Ambos llevarán el castigo de su iniquidad. La iniquidad del profeta será como la iniquidad del que consulta,
They will be responsible for the punishment they receive, as will those who believe in these prophets will receive the same punishment.
11 para que la Casa de Israel ya no se desvíe de Mí, ni se contamine más con sus transgresiones, y sean mi pueblo y Yo sea su ʼElohim, dice ʼAdonay Yavé.
This is so that the people of Israel won't abandon me anymore and won't make themselves unclean with all their sins. Then they will be my people and I will be their God, declares the Lord God.”
12 La Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:
A message from the Lord came to me again, saying,
13 Hijo de hombre, si una tierra peca contra Mí porque se rebela infielmente, y Yo extiendo mi mano sobre ella, le quebranto el sustento del pan, envío a ella hambre y corto de ella a hombres y animales,
“Son of man, if a people in a country sin against me by being unfaithful to me, then I will act against them by cutting off their food supply, so they experience famine, with no food for people or animals.
14 y en ella están estos tres varones: Noé, Daniel y Job, ellos, por su justicia, se librarían, dice ʼAdonay Yavé.
Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job, these three men, were present their good lives would only save themselves, declares the Lord God.
15 Si suelto bestias feroces por la tierra, la asolan y queda desolada de tal modo que nadie puede pasar a causa de las fieras,
I could send wild animals rampaging through the country, so they would leave it uninhabited and desolate, a place no one would travel through for fear of such animals.
16 y estos tres varones están en medio de ella, vivo Yo, dice ʼAdonay Yavé, no podrían librar ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas. Solo ellos serían librados, pero la tierra quedaría desolada.
As I live, declares the Lord God, even if these three men were present, they couldn't save their own sons or daughters. They would only save themselves, but the land would be left desolate.
17 O si Yo traigo la espada sobre aquella tierra, y digo: Espada, pasa por la tierra, y corto de ella a hombres y animales,
I could bring war to that country and say, ‘Have a sword cut through it,’ so that I destroy both people and animals.
18 y estos tres varones están en ella, vivo Yo, dice ʼAdonay Yavé, no podrían librar ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas. Solo ellos serían librados.
As I live, declares the Lord God, even if these three men were present, they couldn't save their own sons or daughters. They would only save themselves.
19 O si envío pestilencia sobre esa tierra y derramo mi furor sobre ella en sangre para cortar de ella hombre y animal,
I could send a disease on that country and because of my anger I would kill many, both people and animals.
20 y están en ella Noé, Daniel y Job, vivo Yo, dice ʼAdonay Yavé, no podrían librar ni a su hijo ni a su hija. Solo ellos mismos, por su justicia, serían librados.
As I live, declares the Lord God, even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were present, they couldn't save their sons or daughters. Their good lives would only save themselves.
21 Por lo cual ʼAdonay Yavé dice: ¿Cuánto más cuando Yo envíe contra Jerusalén mis cuatro juicios terribles: la espada, el hambre, las bestias feroces y la pestilencia para cortar de ella a hombre y animal?
This is what the Lord God says: It will be so much worse when I send my four severe judgments against Jerusalem—war, famine, wild animals, and disease, so that both people and animals are killed!
22 Pero ciertamente quedará en ella un remanente, hijos e hijas que serán llevados fuera. Ciertamente ellos acudirán a ustedes. Ustedes verán su conducta y sus hechos. Y serán consolados de la calamidad que mandé sobre Jerusalén, de todas las cosas que traje sobre ella,
Even so a few of them will survive, some sons and daughters who will be taken captive. They will be brought to you in Babylon, and when you realize what they did and how they acted, you will understand why I had to bring such a disaster down on Jerusalem—everything I did to it.
23 cuando ustedes vean la conducta y los hechos de ellos. Entonces ustedes serán consolados de la calamidad que traje contra Jerusalén, dice ʼAdonay Yavé.
Realizing what they did and how they acted will help you to see that I had good reasons to do everything I did to Jerusalem, declares the Lord God.”
