Éxodo 9
1 Entonces Yavé dijo a Moisés: Vé a Faraón y dile: Yavé el ʼElohim de los hebreos dice: Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva,
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
2 porque si tú rehúsas dejarlos ir y continúas la retención de ellos,
For if you refuse to let them go, and will hold them still,
3 ciertamente la mano de Yavé vendrá con una peste muy severa sobre tus ganados que están en el campo, los caballos, los asnos, los camellos, la manada de ganado vacuno y los rebaños.
Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon your cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.
4 Pero Yavé hará distinción entre los ganados de Israel y los ganados de Egipto, y nada morirá de todo lo que pertenece a los hijos de Israel.
And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel.
5 Yavé fijó plazo y dijo: Mañana Yavé hará esto en la tierra.
And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.
6 Al día siguiente Yavé hizo esto, y todo el ganado de Egipto murió, pero del ganado de los hijos de Israel ni uno murió.
And the LORD did that thing on the next day, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
7 Faraón envió [observadores], y ciertamente del ganado de los hijos de Israel no pereció ni uno. Pero el corazón de Faraón se endureció y no dejó salir al pueblo.
And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
8 Entonces Yavé dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: Tomen puñados de ceniza de un horno, y que Moisés la lance hacia el cielo en la presencia de Faraón.
And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9 Se convertirá en un polvo fino sobre toda la tierra de Egipto, el cual ocasionará un sarpullido que producirá úlceras en hombres y bestias en toda la tierra de Egipto.
And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
10 Entonces tomaron la ceniza de un horno y se presentaron ante Faraón. Moisés la lanzó hacia el cielo y se formó un sarpullido que produjo úlceras en los hombres y en las bestias.
And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.
11 Los hechiceros no pudieron permanecer en la presencia de Moisés a causa de las úlceras, pues había úlceras en los hechiceros y en todos los egipcios.
And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
12 Pero Yavé endureció el corazón de Faraón, y no los escuchó, según Yavé predijo a Moisés.
And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses.
13 Entonces Yavé dijo a Moisés: Levántate de mañana y preséntate a Faraón y dile: Yavé el ʼElohim de los hebreos dice: Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva,
And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
14 pues esta vez Yo enviaré todas mis plagas sobre ti, tus esclavos y tu pueblo, para que entiendas que no hay otro como Yo en toda la tierra.
For I will at this time send all my plagues upon your heart, and upon your servants, and upon your people; that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth.
15 Porque ahora Yo hubiera podido extender mi mano para herirte con pestilencia, a ti y a tu pueblo, y serías exterminado de la tierra.
For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may strike you and your people with pestilence; and you shall be cut off from the earth.
16 Pero en verdad, por esto te permití permanecer, para mostrarte mi poder y para proclamar mi Nombre en toda la tierra.
And in very deed for this cause have I raised you up, in order to show in you my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
17 ¿Aun te exaltas contra mi pueblo para no dejarlos salir?
As yet exalt you yourself against my people, that you will not let them go?
18 Ciertamente, mañana a esta hora enviaré un granizo muy pesado, como nunca hubo en Egipto desde el día cuando se fundó hasta ahora.
Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19 Por tanto, envía ahora a que recojan tu ganado y lo que tengas en el campo y lo pongan bajo seguridad, porque a toda persona o animal que se halle en el campo y no esté recogido en casa, le caerá el granizo y morirá.
Send therefore now, and gather your cattle, and all that you have in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
20 El que tuvo temor a la Palabra de Yavé de entre los esclavos de Faraón, hizo que sus esclavos y su ganado huyeran a las casas.
He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
21 Pero el que no tomó en cuenta la Palabra de Yavé, dejó a sus esclavos y sus ganados en el campo.
And he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.
22 Luego Yavé dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo para que caiga granizo sobre toda la tierra de Egipto, personas, animales y toda planta del campo a través de toda la tierra de Egipto.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth your hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
23 Moisés extendió su vara hacia el cielo y Yavé envió truenos y granizo. Cayeron rayos sobre la tierra, y Yavé hizo llover granizo sobre Egipto.
And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24 Así que hubo granizo y fuego que relampagueaba continuamente en medio del granizo, tan severo como nunca lo hubo en toda la tierra de Egipto desde cuando fue una nación.
So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25 Aquel granizo golpeó todo lo que estaba en el campo a través de la tierra de Egipto, tanto hombres como bestias. El granizo destrozó toda planta del campo y desgajó todos los árboles del campo.
And the hail stroke throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail stroke every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.
26 Solo en la tierra de Gosén, donde estaban los hijos de Israel, no hubo granizo.
Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
27 Entonces Faraón envió a llamar a Moisés y a Aarón y les dijo: Pequé esta vez. Yavé es el Justo, y yo y mi pueblo los perversos.
And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
28 Supliquen a Yavé, porque ha habido suficientes truenos y granizo de ʼElohim. Entonces los dejaré salir y ya no los detendré más.
Implore the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and all of you shall stay no longer.
29 Moisés le respondió: Cuando salga de la ciudad extenderé mis manos a Yavé. Los truenos cesarán y no habrá más granizo, para que entiendas que la tierra es de Yavé.
And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know how that the earth is the LORD's.
30 Pero yo sé que ni tú ni tus esclavos temen aún a la Presencia de Yavé ʼElohim.
But as for you and your servants, I know that all of you will not yet fear the LORD God.
31 Así que el lino y la cebada fueron destruidos, porque la cebada estaba ya espigada y el lino en caña,
And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bud.
32 pero el trigo y el centeno no fueron destruidos por ser tardíos.
But the wheat and the spelt were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
33 Cuando Moisés salió de la presencia de Faraón y de la ciudad, extendió sus manos hacia Yavé. Cesaron los truenos y el granizo, y la lluvia no cayó más sobre la tierra.
And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.
34 Pero cuando Faraón vio que la lluvia, el granizo y los truenos cesaron, volvió a pecar y tanto él como sus esclavos endurecieron su corazón.
And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35 Así que el corazón de Faraón se endureció y no dejó ir a los hijos de Israel, como Yavé predijo por medio de Moisés.
And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.
