Éxodo 3

1 Moisés apacentaba el rebaño de su suegro Jetro, sacerdote de Madián, y condujo el rebaño al extremo del desierto. Llegó a Horeb, la Montaña de ʼElohim.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the farthest end of the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God, unto Horeb.

2 Entonces el Ángel de Yavé se le apareció en una llama de fuego en medio de una zarza. Él vio que la zarza ardía con fuego, pero no se consumía.

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3 Y Moisés dijo: Me desviaré y observaré esta gran aparición. Por qué no se consume la zarza.

And Moses said: 'I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.'

4 Cuando Yavé vio que él se desviaba para observar, lo llamó de en medio de la zarza y le dijo: ¡Moisés! ¡Moisés! Y él respondió: ¡Aquí estoy!

And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said: 'Moses, Moses.' And he said: 'Here am I.'

5 Entonces Él le dijo: No te acerques acá. Quita las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás parado es suelo santo.

And He said: 'Draw not nigh hither; put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.'

6 También le dijo: Yo soy el ʼElohim de tu padre, de Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. Entonces Moisés ocultó su rostro, porque tuvo temor de mirar a ʼElohim.

Moreover He said: 'I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

7 Y Yavé dijo: Ciertamente vi la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y escuché su clamor por causa de sus opresores, porque conozco sus padecimientos.

And the LORD said: 'I have surely seen the affliction of My people that are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their pains;

8 Así que descendí para librarlos del poder de los egipcios y llevarlos de esa tierra a una tierra buena y espaciosa que fluye leche y miel, al lugar del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del heveo y del jebuseo.

and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

9 Ahora, mira, el clamor de los hijos de Israel llegó hasta Mí. También vi la opresión de los egipcios contra ellos.

And now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto Me; moreover I have seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

10 Por tanto te enviaré a Faraón para que saques de Egipto a mi pueblo, los hijos de Israel.

Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth My people the children of Israel out of Egypt.'

11 Pero Moisés respondió a ʼElohim: ¿Quién soy yo para que vaya a Faraón y saque de Egipto a los hijos de Israel?

And Moses said unto God: 'Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?'

12 Y Él respondió: Ciertamente Yo estaré contigo. Ésta será la señal de que te envié: Cuando saques al pueblo de Egipto, servirán a ʼElohim sobre esta montaña.

And He said: 'Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be the token unto thee, that I have sent thee: when thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.'

13 Entonces Moisés dijo a ʼElohim: Cuando vaya a los hijos de Israel y les diga: El ʼElohim de sus antepasados me envió a ustedes, y ellos me pregunten: ¿Cuál es su Nombre? ¿Qué les diré?

And Moses said unto God: 'Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them: The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me: What is His name? what shall I say unto them?'

14 ʼElohim respondió a Moisés: Yo soy el que soy. Y añadió: Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: Yo soy me envió a ustedes.

And God said unto Moses: 'I AM THAT I AM'; and He said: 'Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel: I AM hath sent me unto you.'

15 Además ʼElohim dijo a Moisés: Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: Yavé, el ʼElohim de sus antepasados, de Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, me envió a ustedes. Éste es mi Nombre para siempre jamás, Y éste es mi memorial para todas las generaciones.

And God said moreover unto Moses: 'Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you; this is My name for ever, and this is My memorial unto all generations.

16 Vé, reúne a los ancianos de Israel y diles: Yavé, ʼElohim de sus antepasados, de Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, me apareció y me dijo: En verdad los visité y vi lo que se les hace en Egipto.

Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, hath appeared unto me, saying: I have surely remembered you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt.

17 Y dije: Los sacaré de la aflicción de Egipto a la tierra del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del heveo y del jebuseo, una tierra que fluye leche y miel.

And I have said: I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.

18 Ellos atenderán lo que tú dices. Luego irás tú y los ancianos de Israel ante el rey de Egipto y le dirán: Yavé, el ʼElohim de los hebreos, se encontró con nosotros. Así que ahora te rogamos que nos permitas ir una jornada de tres días al desierto para ofrecer sacrificios a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim.

And they shall hearken to thy voice. And thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him: The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, hath met with us. And now let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.

19 Sin embargo, Yo sé que el rey de Egipto no los dejará salir, sino forzado por una mano poderosa.

And I know that the king of Egypt will not give you leave to go, except by a mighty hand.

20 De manera que Yo extenderé mi mano, golpearé a Egipto con todos mis prodigios que haré en medio de él, y después de esto los dejará ir.

And I will put forth My hand, and smite Egypt with all My wonders which I will do in the midst thereof. And after that he will let you go.

21 Concederé que este pueblo halle gracia ante los egipcios. Sucederá que cuando partan, no se irán vacíos,

And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. And it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty;

22 sino cada mujer pedirá a su vecina y a la huésped de su casa objetos de plata y de oro, y ropa, y los pondrán sobre sus hijos e hijas. Así despojarán a los egipcios.

but every woman shall ask of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment; and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.'
