Éxodo 22

1 Cuando un hombre robe un buey o un cordero, y lo degüelle o lo venda, por aquel buey pagará cinco bueyes, y por aquel cordero pagará cuatro corderos.

When a man stealeth an ox or a sheep, and slayeth it, or selleth it, with five of the herd, shall he make good—for the ox, or with four of the flock, for the sheep.

2 Si un ladrón es hallado cuando irrumpe en un lugar y es herido de tal modo que muere, a nadie se inculpará por su sangre.

If, in the place of breaking in, the thief be found and he is smitten so that he dieth, there is due for him no shedding of blood:

3 Pero si ya salió el sol, será delito de sangre. Ciertamente hará restitución. Si nada tiene, entonces será vendido por su robo.

should the sun have arisen upon him, there would be shedding of blood due for him, —he is surely to make restitution, if he hath nothing, then is he to be sold, for his theft.

4 Si lo que robó se encuentra vivo en su poder, sea buey, asno u oveja, hará restitución con el doble.

If the thing stolen is found in his hand—whether ox or ass or sheep, alive, with two, shall he make restitution.

5 Cuando alguno destroce un campo o una viña al soltar su bestia a pastar en campo ajeno, hará restitución con lo mejor de su campo o lo mejor de su viña.

When a man causeth a field or a vineyard to be depastured, or hath sent in his own cattle and stripped the field of another, he shall, surely make restitution, out of his own field, according to the yield thereof; or if, all the field, he depasture, with the best of his own field, or with the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

6 Cuando un fuego se propague a las espinas y consuma las gavillas amontonadas o en pie en el campo, el que encendió el fuego restituirá sin falta.

When a fire breaketh out and hath come upon thorns and so there is consumed a stack of sheaves, or the standing corn, or the field, he that kindled the fire, shall surely make restitution.

7 Cuando un hombre dé a su prójimo plata u objetos para que los guarde, y sean robados de la casa de aquel que los guardó, si se halla al ladrón, restituirá el doble.

When a man giveth unto his neighbour silver or jewelry, to keep, and it is stolen out of the house of the man:

8 Pero si el ladrón no es hallado, entonces el dueño de la casa se presentará ante los jueces y jurará si metió su mano en los bienes de su prójimo, o no.

if the thief be found, he shall give in restitution double, if the thief be not found, then shall the owner of the house be brought near unto God to swear that he hath not laid his hand on the property of his neighbour.

9 En todo asunto de transgresión, sea de buey, de asno, de oveja, de ropa, o cualquier pérdida en la que se diga: Esto es así, el asunto de ambos se llevará ante los jueces, y aquel a quien los jueces declaren culpable, pagará el doble a su prójimo.

For any affair of trespass—for an ox, for an ass, for a sheep, for a mantle for anything lost as to which one could say—This is it, unto God, shall come the affair of them both, —he whom God shall condemn, shall make restitution of double to his neighbour.

10 Cuando un hombre dé a su prójimo un asno, buey u oveja, o cualquier animal para que lo guarde, y muera, o sea destrozado o robado sin que nadie vea,

When a man delivereth unto his neighbour, an ass, or an ox or a sheep, or any beast, to keep, —and it dieth or is fractured, or is driven away, no one beholding,

11 se interpondrá juramento ante Yavé entre ambos para afirmar que su mano no se extendió a los bienes de su prójimo, su dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no pagará.

the oath of Yahweh, shall come between them both, That he hath not laid his hand on the property of his neighbour, —then shall the owner thereof accept it and he shall not make restitution.

12 Pero si fue robado de junto a él, hará restitución a su dueño,

But, if it be verily stolen, from him, he shall make restitution to the owner thereof.

13 y si fue destrozado por una fiera, le llevará evidencia y no pagará lo destrozado.

If it be, verily torn in pieces, he shall bring it in as a witness—for that which was torn, he shall not make restitution.

14 Cuando un hombre pida a su prójimo un animal, y sea herido o muerto en ausencia de su dueño, ciertamente lo pagará.

And when a man asketh aught of his neighbour, and it is fractured or dieth, its owner, not being with it, he shall, surely make restitution.

15 Si el dueño está presente, no pagará. Si era alquilado, entrará en su alquiler.

If, its owner, was with it, he shall not make restitution, —if it is, hired, it cometh into its hire.

16 Si un varón seduce a una virgen que no está comprometida y se une a ella, ciertamente deberá pagar la dote a fin de tomarla como esposa para él mismo.

And, when a man enticeth a virgin who is not betrothed, and lieth with her, he shall, surely pay a purchase-price, that she may be his wife.

17 Pero si su padre rehúsa terminantemente dársela, él pagará el dinero conforme a la dote de las vírgenes.

If her father utterly refuse, to give her to him, silver, shall he weigh out, according to the purchase-price of virgins.

18 No dejarás vivir a la hechicera.

A sorceress, shalt thou not suffer to live.

19 Todo el que se ayunte con animal ciertamente será muerto.

Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

20 El que ofrezca sacrificio a cualquier ʼelohim que no sea Yavé, será completamente destruido.

He that sacrificeth to the gods shall be devoted to destruction, —except [he sacrificeth] to Yahweh alone.

21 No maltratarás ni oprimirás al extranjero, porque también ustedes fueron extranjeros en la tierra de Egipto.

And, a sojourner, shalt thou not tread down neither shalt thou drive him away, —for sojourners, ye became in the land of Egypt.

22 No afligirán a la viuda ni al huérfano.

Neither widow nor fatherless, shalt thou humiliate:

23 Porque si los afligen, y ellos elevan su clamor a Mí, ciertamente escucharé el clamor de ellos

if thou, do humiliate, him, when he in anywise crieth out unto me, I will, surely hear, his outcry:

24 y se encenderá mi ira. A ustedes los haré morir a espada, y sus esposas quedarán viudas y sus hijos huérfanos.

so shall kindle mine anger, and I will slay you with the sword, —and your wives, shall become widows, and your, sons fatherless.

25 Si prestas dinero al pobre de mi pueblo que está entre ustedes, no actuarás como un acreedor ni le cobrarás interés.

If, silver, thou wilt lend unto my people—unto the humbled one by thee, thou shalt not be to him like one that lendeth on interest, —thou shalt not lay upon him interest.

26 Si tomas en prenda la ropa de tu prójimo, se lo devolverás antes de la puesta del sol,

If thou, do take in pledge, the mantle of thy neighbour, by the going in of the sun, shalt thou restore it to him;

27 pues la ropa es su único cobertor para su piel. ¿En qué se va a acostar? Y si clama a Mí, sucederá que Yo lo escucharé, porque soy misericordioso.

for that is his only covering, that, is his mantle, for his skin, —wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass when he maketh outcry unto me, then will I hear because, gracious, I am.

28 No insultarás a los jueces, ni maldecirás al magistrado de tu pueblo.

God, shalt thou not revile, —and a prince among thy people, shalt thou not curse.

29 No retardes la ofrenda de tu cosecha y de tu vendimia. Me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.

Thy fulness and thine outflow, shalt thou not delay, —the firstborn of thy sons, shalt thou give to me.

30 Lo mismo harás con el de tu buey y con el de tu oveja. Siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día me lo darás.

Thus, shalt thou do with thine ox with thy sheep, —seven days, shall it be with its dam, on the eighth day, shalt thou give it to me.

31 Me serán hombres santos. No comerán carne despedazada en el campo. La echarán a los perros.

Holy men, therefore shall ye truly become to me, —and flesh in the field torn to pieces, shall ye not eat, to the dogs, shall ye cast it.
