Ester 7
1 El rey y Amán fueron a comer con la reina Ester.
So the king and Haman went to drink with Queen Esther.
2 Y al segundo día, mientras bebían vino en el banquete, el rey volvió a preguntar a Ester: ¿Cuál es tu petición, reina Ester? Pues te será concedida. ¿Cuál es tu demanda? ¡Hasta la mitad del reino se te dará!
As they were drinking wine on that second day, the king again said to Esther, “Whatever your petition is, Queen Esther, it will be granted to you. Whatever you request it will be done, even if it takes half of the kingdom.”
3 Entonces la reina Ester respondió: Oh rey, si hallé gracia ante ti, y si place al rey, ¡concédase mi vida por mi petición y la de mi pueblo por mi demanda!
Then Queen Esther answered, “Your Majesty, if I have won your favor, and if it seems best to Your Majesty, let my life be given me as my petition, and my people as my request,
4 ¡Porque yo y mi pueblo fuimos vendidos para ser destruidos, asesinados y exterminados! Si como esclavos y esclavas fuéramos vendidos, yo habría callado, porque aun tal calamidad no sería digna de la molestia al rey.
for I and my people have been sold to be destroyed, killed, and completely annihilated! If we had been merely sold into slavery I would not have disturbed your peace, because such a fate would not have affected the interests of the king.”
5 Y al tomar la palabra, el rey Asuero preguntó a la reina Ester: ¿Quién es y dónde está el que se atreve en su corazón a hacer tal cosa?
Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther, “Who is he and where is he whose heart has impelled him to do this?”
6 Ester dijo: ¡El adversario y enemigo es este perverso Amán! Y Amán quedó aterrorizado delante del rey y de la reina.
“A foe, an enemy: this wicked Haman.” Esther answered. Haman shrank in terror before the king and the queen.
7 Entonces el rey se levantó enfurecido del banquete y se fue al jardín del palacio, pero Amán se quedó para rogar a la reina Ester por su vida, porque vio que el mal ya estaba determinado contra él de parte del rey.
In his wrath the king rose from the place where he was drinking wine and went into the palace garden. Haman stayed to beg Queen Esther for his life, for he saw that the king was fully determined to bring calamity upon him.
8 Cuando el rey volvió del jardín del palacio al lugar donde bebía el vino, ¡ahí estaba Amán caído encima del reclinatorio en el cual estaba recostada Ester! Por lo cual el rey exclamó: ¿Querrá también violar a la reina en mi presencia y en mi propio palacio? Mientras hablaba el rey, los servidores cubrieron el rostro de Amán.
As the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet hall, Haman had flung himself on Esther’s couch. The king cried, “Is he going to rape my queen while I am present in my own house?” As the king spoke these words, the attendants covered Haman’s face
9 Harbona, uno de los servidores del palacio que estaban en presencia del rey, dijo: ¡Ahí está precisamente colocada en casa de Amán una horca de 22,5 metros de altura, la cual preparó Amán para Mardoqueo, quien habló en provecho del rey! Y el rey ordenó: ¡Cuélguenlo en ella!
and Harbonah, one of those who waited on the king, said, “There are the gallows, seventy-five feet high, which Hainan erected for Mordecai, who spoke a good word in behalf of the king, standing in the house of Haman!” The king said “Hang him on them.”
10 Colgaron a Amán en la horca que él preparó para Mardoqueo. Y se aplacó la ira del rey.
So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the wrath of the king was pacified.
