Ester 6
1 Aquella noche el rey no podía dormir. Ordenó que llevaran el rollo de las crónicas de obras memorables y fueron leídas delante del rey.
That night the king could not sleep. He commanded servants to bring the records of the events of his reign, and they were being read aloud to the king.
2 Se halló escrito que Mardoqueo denunció a Bigtán y Teres, dos de los guardianes del palacio que proyectaron poner la mano sobre el rey Asuero.
It was found recorded there that Mordecai had told about Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's officials who guarded the entrance, who had tried to harm King Ahasuerus.
3 El rey preguntó: ¿Qué honor o distinción se dio a Mardoqueo por esto? Y los ministros servidores del rey respondieron: Nada se hizo por él.
The king asked, “What was done to give honor or recognition to Mordecai for doing this?” Then the king's young men who served him said, “Nothing was done for him.”
4 Entonces el rey dijo: ¿Quién está en el patio? Y Amán entraba en ese momento en el patio exterior del palacio del rey para proponer al rey que colgara a Mardoqueo en la horca que él le preparó.
The king said, “Who is in the courtyard?” Now Haman had entered the outer courtyard of the king's house to speak to him about hanging Mordecai on the gallows he set up for him.
5 Y los servidores del rey respondieron: Mira, Amán está en el patio. Y el rey dijo: Que entre.
The king's servants said to him, “Haman is standing in the courtyard.” The king said, “Let him come in.”
6 Así que Amán entró, y el rey le preguntó: ¿Qué se hará al hombre a quien el rey le deleita honrar? Y Amán se dijo: ¿A quién le deleitaría honrar el rey, sino a mí?
When Haman entered, the king said to him, “What should be done for the man whom the king takes pleasure in honoring?” Now Haman said in his heart, “Whom would the king take pleasure in honoring more than me?”
7 Amán respondió al rey: Para el hombre a quien el rey se deleita en honrar,
Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king takes pleasure in honoring,
8 traíganse los atavíos reales que el rey suele usar y el caballo en el cual cabalga el rey. Que se ponga la diadema real en su cabeza,
let royal robes be brought, robes that the king has worn, and a horse that the king has ridden and on whose head is the royal crest.
9 que se den los atavíos y el caballo en mano del jefe más noble del rey, para que vista al hombre a quien el rey se deleita en honrar. Que lo pase a caballo por las calles de la ciudad y proclame delante de él: ¡Así se hará cuando el rey se deleita en honrar a un hombre!
Then let the robes and the horse be given to one of the king's most noble officials. Let them dress the man whom the king takes pleasure in honoring, and let them lead him on the horse through the city streets. Let them proclaim before him, 'This is what is done to the one whom the king takes pleasure in honoring!'”
10 Entonces el rey dijo a Amán: ¡Apresúrate, toma los atavíos y el caballo, y haz como dijiste con Mardoqueo el judío, que se sienta a la puerta del rey! ¡Nada omitas de todo lo que dijiste!
Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robes and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordecai the Jew who sits at the king's gate. Do not fail in a single matter of what you have said.”
11 Así que Amán tomó los atavíos y el caballo. Vistió a Mardoqueo, lo condujo por la plaza abierta de la ciudad y proclamaba delante de él: ¡Así se hace cuando el rey se deleita en honrar a un hombre!
Then Haman took the robe and the horse. He dressed Mordecai and led him on the horse through the city streets. He proclaimed before him, “This is what is done for a man whom the king takes pleasure in honoring!”
12 Mardoqueo volvió a la puerta del rey, pero Amán se apresuró a su casa, lamentándose con la cabeza cubierta.
Mordecai returned to the king's gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning, with his head covered.
13 Amán contó todo lo que le sucedió a su esposa Zeres y a todos sus amigos. Entonces sus atinados amigos y su esposa Zeres le dijeron: Si Mardoqueo, ante quien comenzaste a caer, es de la descendencia de los judíos, no prevalecerás contra él. Ciertamente caerás ante él.
Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that happened to him. Then his men who were known for their wisdom, and Zeresh his wife, said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is Jewish, you will not overcome him, but you will certainly fall before him.”
14 Aún hablaban ellos con él, cuando llegaron los servidores del palacio del rey y se apresuraron a llevar a Amán al banquete que Ester preparó.
While they were talking with him, the king's officials arrived. They hurried to bring Haman to the feast that Esther had prepared.
