Eclesiastés 9
1 Ciertamente tomé todas estas cosas en mi corazón para explicar todo esto: Que los justos y los sabios, y sus obras, todas estas cosas están en la mano de ʼElohim, aun el amor y el odio, pero el hombre no lo sabe, aunque todo está delante de ellos.
For all this did I reflect over in my heart and to explain all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their services, are in the hand of God: that man knoweth neither love nor hatred; it is all [ordained] before them;
2 Todo acontece a todos de una misma manera. Lo mismo le ocurre al justo que al impío, al bueno, al puro, al impuro, al que ofrece sacrificios y al que no los ofrece, tanto al recto como al perverso, al que jura en vano como al que respeta su juramento.
Every thing as it is to happen to all; there is but one occurrence for the righteous, and for the wicked; for the good and for the clean, and for the unclean; and for him that sacrificeth, and for him that sacrificeth not; as is the good, so is the sinner; he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
3 Este es un mal que hay en todo lo que ocurre bajo el sol: Que un mismo suceso acontece a todos, y que el corazón de los hijos de hombres está lleno de maldad, que la locura está en su corazón mientras vive, ¡Y después de esto bajan al lugar de los muertos!
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one occurrence for all, and that also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and that madness is in their heart while they live, and after this they go to the dead.
4 Pero hay esperanza para todo el que está entre los vivos, pues mejor es perro vivo que león muerto.
For whoever is yet united with all the living hath still hope; for a living dog fareth better than a dead lion.
5 Porque los vivos saben que van a morir, pero los muertos nada saben, ni tienen más recompensa, porque su memoria es puesta en el olvido.
For the living know that they will die; but the dead know not the least; nor have they longer any reward; for their memory is forgotten.
6 En verdad su amor, su odio y su envidia ya perecieron. Nunca más tendrán parte en todo lo que se hace bajo el sol.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, are now already lost; and they will have never more a portion in all that is done under the sun.
7 Anda, come tu pan con gozo y bebe tu vino con corazón alegre, porque ʼElohim ya aprobó tus obras.
Go, eat with joy thy bread, and drink with a merry heart thy wine, if God have already received thy works in favor.
8 En todo tiempo sean blancas tus ropas, y nunca falte ungüento sobre tu cabeza.
At all times let thy garments be white, and let oil not be wanting on thy head.
9 Goza de la vida con la mujer que amas todos los días de tu vana vida que te fue dada bajo el sol todos los días de vanidad, pues ésta es tu recompensa en la vida y en el trabajo con el cual te ocupas bajo el sol.
Enjoy life with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which God hath given thee under the sun, [yea, ] all the days of thy vanity; for this is thy portion in this life, and in thy toil with which thou toilest under the sun.
10 Todo lo que venga a la mano para hacer, hazlo según tus fuerzas, porque en el Seol, adonde vas, no hay obra ni trabajo, ni ciencia, ni sabiduría. (Sheol h7585)
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do with thy might, that do; for there is no work, nor experience, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the nether world, whither thou goest.— (Sheol h7585)
11 Me volví y vi bajo el sol: Que la carrera no es de los veloces, Ni la batalla de los fuertes, Ni de los sabios el pan, Ni de los entendidos la riqueza, Ni de los hábiles el favor, Sino un tiempo y una oportunidad los alcanzan a todos ellos.
I turned about, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the mighty; and that also the wise have no bread, nor yet the men of understanding riches, nor yet men of knowledge favor; but time and fate will overtake them all.
12 Porque el hombre no conoce su tiempo: Como los peces son atrapados en la traicionera red Y los pájaros caen en la trampa, Así son atrapados los hijos de hombres En el tiempo malo cuando les viene de repente.
For man also knoweth not his time, like the fishes that are caught in an evil net, and like the birds that are caught in the snare: like these are the sons of men ensnared at an evil time, when it falleth upon them suddenly.
13 También vi algo que para mí es de gran sabiduría bajo el sol:
Also in this manner have I seen wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
14 Una pequeña ciudad con pocos hombres en ella, y llega contra ella un gran rey, y construye contra ella grandes torres de asedio.
There was a little city, and the men therein were few; and there came against it a great king, who enclosed it, and built around it great works of siege;
15 Y en ella se halla un hombre pobre pero sabio, el cual libra a la ciudad con su sabiduría. Sin embargo, nadie se acuerda de aquel hombre pobre.
But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he delivered the city by his wisdom; yet no man had thought of that same poor man.
16 Entonces me dije: Mejor es la sabiduría que la fuerza, aunque la sabiduría del pobre sea menospreciada, y sus palabras no sean escuchadas.
Then said I, Wisdom is better than might: although the poor man's wisdom is held in contempt, and his words are not heard.
17 Las palabras de los sabios dichas en quietud Son más aceptables que el clamor de un magistrado entre los necios.
The words of wise men heard in quiet are better than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
18 Mejor es la sabiduría que las armas de guerra, Pero un solo perverso destruye mucho bien.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner causes much good to be lost.
