Eclesiastés 3
1 Todo tiene su tiempo. Todo lo que se quiere bajo el cielo tiene su hora:
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens:
2 Tiempo de nacer y tiempo de morir. Tiempo de plantar y tiempo de arrancar lo plantado.
A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 Tiempo de matar y tiempo de curar. Tiempo de destruir y tiempo de edificar.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 Tiempo de llorar y tiempo de reír. Tiempo de endechar y tiempo de bailar.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 Tiempo de esparcir piedras y tiempo de reunir piedras. Tiempo de abrazar y tiempo de no abrazar.
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 Tiempo de buscar y tiempo de perder. Tiempo de guardar y tiempo de desechar.
A time to seek, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 Tiempo de romper y tiempo de coser. Tiempo de callar y tiempo de hablar.
A time to rend, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 Tiempo de amar y tiempo de aborrecer. Tiempo de guerra y tiempo de paz.
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.
9 ¿Qué provecho hay para el trabajador de aquello en lo cual trabaja?
What profit hath he that worketh from that wherein he laboureth?
10 Vi el trabajo que ʼElohim dio a los hijos de hombres para que se ocupen.
I have seen the travail that God hath given to the sons of men to toil in.
11 Todo lo hizo apropiado en su tiempo, y colocó eternidad en su corazón. Pero el hombre no entiende lo que hizo ʼElohim desde el principio hasta el fin.
He hath made everything beautiful in its time; also he hath set the world in their heart, so that man findeth not out from the beginning to the end the work that God doeth.
12 Sé que nada hay mejor para ellos que gozarse y hacer bien en sus vidas.
I know that there is nothing good for them but to rejoice and to do well in their life;
13 También que es don de ʼElohim que todo hombre coma y beba, y vea el bien de toda su labor.
yea also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14 Entendí que todo lo que hace ʼElohim es perpetuo. A ello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá. ʼElohim lo hizo así para que los hombres teman ante Él.
I know that whatever God doeth, it shall be for ever; there is nothing to be added to it, nor anything to be taken from it; and God doeth [it], that [men] should fear before him.
15 Lo que es, ya fue. Lo que será, ya fue, Y ʼElohim restaura lo que pasó.
That which is was long ago, and that which is to be hath already been; and God bringeth back again that which is past.
16 Además vi bajo el sol: En el lugar de la justicia hay impiedad, Y en el lugar de la equidad hay iniquidad.
And moreover I saw under the sun, that in the place of judgment, wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, wickedness was there.
17 Y dije en mi corazón: Al justo y al perverso los juzgará ʼElohim. Porque allí hay un tiempo Para todo lo que se quiere y todo lo que se hace.
I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
18 Me dije con respecto a los hijos de hombres: ʼElohim ciertamente los probó para que ellos vean que solo son como las bestias.
I said in my heart, It is thus with the children of men, that God may prove them, and that they should see that they themselves are but beasts.
19 Porque lo mismo que sucede al hombre sucede a la bestia. Un mismo suceso es: como muere uno, así muere el otro. Todos tienen un mismo aliento. El hombre no tiene ventaja sobre el animal, porque todo es vanidad.
For what befalleth the children of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other, and they have all one breath; and man hath no pre-eminence above the beast: for all is vanity.
20 Todos van a un mismo lugar. Todos proceden del polvo y todos vuelven al polvo.
All go unto one place: all are of the dust, and all return to dust.
21 ¿Quién conoce el espíritu de los hijos de hombres? ¿Va él hacia arriba? ¿Y el hálito de la bestia baja a la tierra?
Who knoweth the spirit of the children of men? Doth it go upwards? and the spirit of the beasts, doth it go downwards to the earth?
22 Así vi que nada hay mejor para el hombre que alegrarse en sus obras, porque ésa es su parte. ¿Porque quién lo llevará para que vea lo que ocurrirá después de él?
And I have seen that there is nothing better than that man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion; for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
