Deuteronomio 5
1 Entonces Moisés convocó a todo Israel y les dijo: ¡Escucha, Israel, los Estatutos y Ordenanzas que yo proclamo hoy a sus oídos para que los aprendan y los practiquen!
And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and observe to do them.
2 Yavé nuestro ʼElohim hizo un Pacto con nosotros en Horeb.
Jehovah our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3 No fue con nuestros antepasados con quienes Yavé hizo este Pacto, sino con nosotros, los que hoy estamos aquí, todos vivos.
Jehovah did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
4 Cara a cara Yavé habló con ustedes en la Montaña, desde en medio del fuego.
Jehovah spoke with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire
5 Yo mediaba en aquel tiempo entre ustedes y Yavé para ponerles delante la Palabra de Yavé, porque temieron a causa del fuego y no subieron a la montaña. Y [Él] dijo:
(I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to show you the word of Jehovah, for ye were afraid because of the fire, and did not go up onto the mount), saying,
6 Yo soy Yavé tu ʼElohim, Quien te sacó de tierra de Egipto, de la casa de esclavitud.
I am Jehovah thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
7 No tendrás otros ʼelohim delante de Mí.
Thou shall have no other gods before me.
8 No te harás imagen ni alguna semejanza de lo que esté arriba en el cielo, o abajo en la tierra o en las aguas debajo de la tierra.
Thou shall not make to thee a graven image: any likeness that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
9 No te postrarás ante ellas ni les servirás, porque Yo soy Yavé tu ʼElohim, ʼElohim celoso, que visito la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y la cuarta [generación] de los que me aborrecen,
Thou shall not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them, for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, and upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,
10 pero hago misericordia con millares de los que me aman y guardan mis Mandamientos.
and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
11 No tomarás el Nombre de Yavé tu ʼElohim en vano, porque Yavé no tendrá como inocente al que tome su Nombre en vano.
Thou shall not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain, for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
12 Guardarás el día sábado para santificarlo, tal como Yavé tu ʼElohim te ordenó.
Observe the sabbath day, to keep it holy, as Jehovah thy God commanded thee.
13 Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,
Six days thou shall labor, and do all thy work,
14 pero el séptimo es sábado consagrado a Yavé tu ʼElohim. No harás ninguna labor, ni tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu esclavo, ni tu esclava, ni tu buey, ni tu asno, ni ningún otro animal tuyo, ni el extranjero que habita en tus ciudades para que puedan descansar tu esclavo y tu esclava, así como tú.
but the seventh day is a sabbath to Jehovah thy God: thou shall not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thine ox, nor thy donkey, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates, that thy man-servant and thy maid-servant may rest as well as thou.
15 Pues recuerda que fuiste esclavo en tierra de Egipto, y que Yavé tu ʼElohim te sacó de allá con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, por lo cual Yavé tu ʼElohim te manda guardar el día sábado.
And thou shall remember that thou were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God brought thee out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm, therefore Jehovah thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
16 Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, como Yavé tu ʼElohim te ordenó, para que se prolonguen tus días y te vaya bien en la tierra que Yavé tu ʼElohim te da.
Honor thy father and thy mother, as Jehovah thy God commanded thee, that thy days may be long, and that it may go well with thee in the land which Jehovah thy God gives thee.
17 No asesinarás.
Thou shall not murder.
18 No adulterarás.
Neither shall thou commit adultery.
19 No robarás.
Neither shall thou steal.
20 No dirás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.
Neither shall thou bear false witness against thy neighbor.
21 No codiciarás la esposa de tu prójimo, ni desearás la casa de tu prójimo, ni su campo, ni su esclavo, ni su esclava, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni cosa alguna que pertenece a tu prójimo.
Neither shall thou covet thy neighbor's wife. Neither shall thou desire thy neighbor's house, his field, or his man-servant, or his maid-servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is thy neighbor's.
22 Estas Palabras Yavé habló a gran voz a toda su congregación en la Montaña, desde en medio del fuego, la nube y la densa oscuridad, y no añadió más. Las escribió sobre dos tablas de piedra y me las dio.
These words Jehovah spoke to all your assembly on the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice, and he added no more. And he wrote them upon two tablets of stone, and gave them to me.
23 Sucedió que cuando ustedes oyeron la voz desde en medio de la oscuridad, mientras la Montaña ardía con fuego, todos los jefes de sus tribus y sus ancianos se acercaron a mí
And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that ye came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders.
24 y dijeron: Mira, Yavé nuestro ʼElohim nos mostró su gloria y su grandeza. Oímos su voz desde en medio del fuego. Hoy vimos que ʼElohim habla con el hombre, sin embargo éste vive.
And ye said, Behold, Jehovah our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man, and he lives.
25 Pero ¿por qué moriremos? Pues este gran fuego nos devorará. Si continuamos oyendo la voz de Yavé nuestro ʼElohim, moriremos.
Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of Jehovah our God any more, then we shall die.
26 Porque ¿cuál es el hombre que oyó la voz del ʼElohim vivo que habla desde en medio del fuego, como nosotros la oímos, y aún vivimos?
For who is there of all flesh, who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
27 Acércate tú y escucha todo lo que Yavé nuestro ʼElohim diga. Dinos todo lo que Yavé nuestro ʼElohim te dice, y nosotros escucharemos y lo haremos.
Go thou near, and hear all that Jehovah our God shall say. And speak thou to us all that Jehovah our God shall speak to thee, and we will hear it, and do it.
28 Yavé escuchó las palabras de ustedes mientras me hablaban y me dijo: Escuché las palabras que te habló este pueblo. Está bien todo lo que dijeron.
And Jehovah heard the voice of your words, when ye spoke to me. And Jehovah said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken to thee. They have well said all that they have spoken.
29 ¡Oh si ellos tuvieran tal corazón que me temieran y guardaran siempre mis Mandamientos para que les vaya bien a ellos y a sus hijos para siempre!
Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their sons forever!
30 Vé y diles: Regresen a sus tiendas.
Go say to them, Return ye to your tents.
31 Pero tú permanece aquí conmigo y te diré todos los Mandamientos, Estatutos y Ordenanzas que les enseñarás para que los cumplan en la tierra que Yo les doy como posesión.
But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak to thee all the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which thou shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
32 Así que cuidarán de hacer como Yavé su ʼElohim les ordenó. No se apartarán ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda.
Ye shall observe to do therefore as Jehovah your God has commanded you. Ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
33 Andarán por todo el camino que Yavé su ʼElohim les ordenó para que vivan y les vaya bien, y prolonguen los días en la tierra que van a poseer.
Ye shall walk in all the way which Jehovah your God has commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
