Deuteronomio 28

1 Sucederá que si escuchas atentamente la voz de Yavé tu ʼElohim para guardar y practicar todos sus Mandamientos que yo te ordeno hoy, también Yavé tu ʼElohim te exaltará por encima de todas las naciones de la tierra.

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth.

2 Si escuchas la voz de Yavé tu ʼElohim, todas estas bendiciones vendrán sobre ti y te alcanzarán:

And all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

3 Bendito serás tú en la ciudad y en el campo.

Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

4 Bendito el fruto de tu vientre, de tu tierra, de tus animales, la cría de tus manadas vacunas y los borregos de tu rebaño.

Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the young of thy flock.

5 Bendita será tu cesta y tu artesa de amasar.

Blessed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.

6 Bendito serás cuando entres y cuando salgas.

Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

7 Yavé hará que tus enemigos, los que se levantan contra ti, sean derrotados delante de ti. Por un camino saldrán contra ti, y por siete caminos huirán de ti.

The LORD will cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thee; they shall come out against thee one way, and shall flee before thee seven ways.

8 Yavé mandará su bendición sobre tus graneros y sobre todo lo que emprenda tu mano. Te bendecirá en la tierra que te da Yavé tu ʼElohim.

The LORD will command the blessing with thee in thy barns, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto; and He will bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

9 Yavé te confirmará como su pueblo santo, como te juró, si guardas los Mandamientos de Yavé tu ʼElohim y andas en sus caminos.

The LORD will establish thee for a holy people unto Himself, as He hath sworn unto thee; if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in His ways.

10 Todos los pueblos de la tierra mirarán que el Nombre de Yavé es invocado sobre ti, y tendrán temor a ti.

And all the peoples of the earth shall see that the name of the LORD is called upon thee; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11 Yavé hará que sobreabundes en bienes, el fruto de tu vientre, el fruto de tu bestia, el producto de tu terreno, y la tierra que Yavé juró a tus antepasados que te la daría.

And the LORD will make thee over-abundant for good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, in the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 Yavé te abrirá su buen tesoro, el cielo, para dar la lluvia a tu tierra en su tiempo y bendecir toda la obra de tu mano. Prestarás a muchas naciones, pero tú no tomarás prestado.

The LORD will open unto thee His good treasure the heaven to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow.

13 Si escuchas los Mandamientos de Yavé tu ʼElohim que te mando hoy para que los guardes y los cumplas, Yavé te pondrá como cabeza y no como cola, estarás encima solamente, y no estarás debajo.

And the LORD will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them;

14 No te apartes, ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda de ninguna de las Palabras que yo te ordeno hoy para seguir y servir a otros ʼelohim.

and shalt not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

15 Pero sucederá que si no escuchas la voz de Yavé tu ʼElohim para observar y practicar todos sus Mandamientos y Estatutos que yo te ordeno hoy, vendrán sobre ti y te alcanzarán todas estas maldiciones:

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

16 Maldito serás en la ciudad y en el campo.

Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

17 Malditas serán tu cesta y tu artesa de amasar.

Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.

18 Maldito será el fruto de tu vientre y de tu tierra, el parto de tu ganado vacuno y la cría de tu rebaño.

Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the young of thy flock.

19 Maldito serás cuando entres y cuando salgas.

Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

20 Yavé enviará contra ti maldición, quebranto y asombro en todo cuanto pongas la mano y hagas, hasta que seas destruido y perezcas pronto, a causa de la maldad de tus obras por las cuales me dejaste.

The LORD will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken Me.

21 Yavé ordenará que se te pegue la mortandad, hasta que Él te extermine de la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla.

The LORD will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until He have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it.

22 Yavé te herirá con tuberculosis, fiebre, inflamación y calor sofocante, sequía, calamidad repentina, hongo y calamidad repentina, y hongo y honguillo. Te perseguirán hasta que perezcas.

The LORD will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with drought, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

23 El cielo que está sobre tu cabeza será de bronce, y la tierra que está debajo de ti, de hierro.

And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

24 Yavé dará a tu tierra polvo y ceniza como lluvia, los cuales descenderán del cielo sobre ti hasta que seas destruido.

The LORD will make the rain of thy land powder and dust; from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

25 Yavé ordenará que seas derrotado delante de tus enemigos. Por un camino saldrás contra ellos y por siete caminos huirás de ellos, y serás objeto de terror para todos los reinos de la tierra.

The LORD will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them; and thou shalt be a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth.

26 Tu cadáver servirá de comida a todas las aves del cielo y a las fieras de la tierra, y no habrá quien las ahuyente.

And thy carcasses shall be food unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be none to frighten them away.

27 Yavé te golpeará con la úlcera de Egipto, tumores, sarna y erupciones de las cuales no podrás ser curado.

The LORD will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

28 Yavé te golpeará con demencia, ceguera y turbación de corazón.

The LORD will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart.

29 Como el ciego palpa en la oscuridad, así palparás a medio día. No prosperarás en tus caminos, sino solo serás oprimido y robado continuamente, sin que alguno te salve.

And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not make thy ways prosperous; and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee.

30 Te desposarás con una mujer, pero otro hombre se unirá a ella. Edificarás casa y no vivirás en ella. Plantarás viña, pero no recogerás su fruto.

Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.

31 Tu buey será degollado delante de tus ojos, pero no comerás de él. Tu asno será arrebatado delante de ti, y no te será devuelto. Tus ovejas serán dadas a tus enemigos, y no tendrás quien te las rescate.

Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies; and thou shalt have none to save thee.

32 Tus hijos y tus hijas serán entregados a otro pueblo. Tus ojos lo verán y desfallecerán por ellos todo el día, pero no habrá fuerza en tu mano.

Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day; and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand.

33 Un pueblo que no conoces comerá del fruto de tu tierra y de todo tu trabajo. Serás oprimido y quebrantado todos los días,

The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed away:

34 y enloquecerás a causa de lo que verán tus ojos.

so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

35 Yavé te golpeará con póstula maligna en las rodillas y en las piernas, desde la planta de tu pie hasta tu coronilla, sin que puedas ser curado.

The LORD will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head.

36 Yavé te llevará a ti y al rey que designaste sobre ti, a una nación que ni tú ni tus antepasados conocieron. Allí servirás a otros ʼelohim, al palo y a la piedra.

The LORD will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.

37 Serás objeto de espanto. Servirás de refrán y de burla a todos los pueblos a los cuales Yavé te lleve.

And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples whither the LORD shall lead thee away.

38 Sacarás mucha semilla al campo, pero recogerás poco, porque el saltamontes la devorará.

Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather little in; for the locust shall consume it.

39 Plantarás viñas y las cultivarás, pero no recogerás uvas, ni beberás vino, porque el gusano se las comerá.

Thou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but thou shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worm shall eat them.

40 Tendrás olivos en todo tu territorio, pero no te ungirás con aceite, porque tu aceituna se caerá.

Thou shalt have olive-trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olives shall drop off.

41 Engendrarás hijos e hijas, pero no serán para ti, porque irán en cautividad.

Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be thine; for they shall go into captivity.

42 La langosta devorará toda tu arboleda y el fruto de tu tierra.

All thy trees and the fruit of thy land shall the locust possess.

43 El extranjero que esté en medio de ti se elevará cada vez más por encima de ti, y tú descenderás más y más abajo.

The stranger that is in the midst of thee shall mount up above thee higher and higher; and thou shalt come down lower and lower.

44 Él te prestará y tú no le podrás prestar. Él será cabeza y tú serás cola.

He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him; he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

45 Vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones. Te perseguirán y te alcanzarán hasta que seas destruido, por cuanto no escuchaste la voz de Yavé tu ʼElohim para guardar sus Mandamientos y Estatutos que Él te prescribió.

And all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded thee.

46 Serán señal y maravilla en ti y en tus descendientes para siempre,

And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever;

47 por cuanto no serviste a Yavé tu ʼElohim con alegría y gozo de corazón por la abundancia de todas las cosas.

because thou didst not serve the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things;

48 Servirás a tus enemigos que Yavé enviará contra ti, en medio de hambre, sed, desnudez y la falta de todas las cosas. Pondrá sobre tu cuello un yugo de hierro hasta que te destruya.

therefore shalt thou serve thine enemy whom the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

49 Como águila que se lanza, así Yavé traerá contra ti de lejos, del extremo de la tierra, a una nación cuya lengua no entenderás,

The LORD will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the vulture swoopeth down; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;

50 pueblo de aspecto feroz, que no respetará al anciano, ni del joven tendrá compasión.

a nation of fierce countenance, that shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favour to the young.

51 Devorará el fruto de tu ganado y el fruto de tu tierra hasta que seas destruido. No te dejará grano, ni mosto, ni aceite, ni la cría de tu ganado vacuno ni las crías de tu rebaño, hasta que te destruya.

And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy ground, until thou be destroyed; that also shall not leave thee corn, wine, or oil, the increase of thy kine, or the young of thy flock, until he have caused thee to perish.

52 Asediará en toda tu tierra todas tus ciudades, hasta que caigan tus muros altos y fortificados en los cuales confías. Él te sitiará en todas tus ciudades y toda tu tierra que te dio Yavé tu ʼElohim.

And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fortified walls come down, wherein thou didst trust, throughout all thy land; and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

53 Por la angustia con la cual te oprimirá tu enemigo durante el asedio, te comerás el fruto de tu vientre, la carne de tus propios hijos e hijas que Yavé tu ʼElohim te dio.

And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters whom the LORD thy God hath given thee; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall straiten thee.

54 El hombre refinado y delicado en medio de ti será hostil hacia su hermano, su amada esposa y el resto de sus hijos que le queden,

The man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil against his brother, and against the wife of his bosom, and against the remnant of his children whom he hath remaining;

55 para no dar a ninguno de ellos de la carne de sus hijos que él come, porque nada le quedó debido al asedio y a la angustia con la cual tu enemigo te atormentará en todas tus ciudades.

so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he hath nothing left him; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall straiten thee in all thy gates.

56 La mujer refinada y delicada entre ustedes, que nunca probó poner la planta de su pie en la tierra por delicadeza y refinamiento, será hostil hacia el varón de su regazo, su hijo, su hija,

The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil against the husband of her bosom, and against her son, and against her daughter;

57 su placenta que sale de entre sus piernas y sus hijos que dé a luz. Pues se los comerá a escondidas por la carencia de todo en el asedio y por la angustia con la cual te oprimirá tu enemigo en tus ciudades.

and against her afterbirth that cometh out from between her feet, and against her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall straiten thee in thy gates.

58 Si no tienes el cuidado de cumplir todas las Palabras de esta Ley escritas en este rollo, para temer a este Nombre glorioso y temible, Yavé tu ʼElohim,

If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and awful Name, the LORD thy God;

59 entonces Yavé aumentará de manera asombrosa tus enfermedades y las de tus descendientes, enfermedades severas y duraderas, y perniciosas y crónicas.

then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

60 Traerá sobre ti todas las enfermedades de Egipto de las cuales temiste, y se pegarán a ti.

And He will bring back upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast in dread of; and they shall cleave unto thee.

61 Yavé también traerá sobre ti toda enfermedad y todo azote que no están escritos en el rollo de esta Ley hasta que seas destruido.

Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

62 Así, después de ser tan numeroso como las estrellas del cielo, quedarán pocos en número por cuanto no obedeciste la voz de Yavé tu ʼElohim.

And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

63 Sucederá que así como Yavé se gozó en ustedes para hacerles bien y multiplicarlos, así Yavé se gozará en ustedes para arruinarlos y destruirlos. Serán arrancados de la tierra a la cual entran para tomarla como posesión.

And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest in to possess it.

64 Entonces Yavé te dispersará por todos los pueblos, desde un extremo de la tierra hasta el otro, y allí servirás a otros ʼelohim que ni tú ni tus antepasados conocieron: al palo y a la piedra.

And the LORD shall scatter thee among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers, even wood and stone.

65 Entre aquellas naciones no hallarás reposo ni habrá descanso para la planta de tu pie, pues Yavé te dará allí un corazón tembloroso, desfallecimiento de ojos y angustia de alma.

And among these nations shalt thou have no repose, and there shall be no rest for the sole of thy foot; but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and languishing of soul.

66 Tendrás tu vida como algo que pende delante de ti. Estarás temeroso de noche y de día, y no tendrás seguridad de tu vida.

And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear night and day, and shalt have no assurance of thy life.

67 Por la mañana dirás: ¡Quién me diera que fuera la noche! Y en la noche dirás: ¡Quién me diera que fuera la mañana! Esto sucederá por el terror con el cual serás atemorizado, y por el espectáculo que verán tus ojos.

In the morning thou shalt say: 'Would it were even!' and at even thou shalt say: 'Would it were morning!' for the fear of thy heart which thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

68 Yavé te hará regresar a Egipto en naves por el camino del cual yo te dije: Nunca más volverás. Allí serán ofrecidos en venta a sus enemigos como esclavos y esclavas, y no habrá quien los compre.

And the LORD shall bring thee back into Egypt in ships, by the way whereof I said unto thee: 'Thou shalt see it no more again'; and there ye shall sell yourselves unto your enemies for bondmen and for bondwoman, and no man shall buy you.
