Hechos 9
1 Saulo, quien aún respiraba amenaza y muerte contra los discípulos del Señor, fue al sumo sacerdote.
But, Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, going unto the High-priest,
2 Le solicitó cartas de autorización para las congregaciones judías de Damasco, a fin de que, si hallaba hombres o mujeres de este Camino, fueran llevados atados a Jerusalén.
asked from him letters for Damascus, unto the synagogues; to the end that, if he should find, any, who were of The Way, whether men or women, he might bring them, bound, unto Jerusalem.
3 Pero cuando estaba cerca de Damasco, de repente una luz del cielo resplandeció alrededor de él.
But, as he was journeying, it came to pass that he was drawing near unto Damascus, and, suddenly, there flashed around him a light out of heaven;
4 Saulo cayó en tierra y oyó una voz que le decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?
And, falling unto the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him—Saul! Saul! why, me, art thou persecuting?
5 Preguntó: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y le [contestó]: Yo soy Jesús, a Quien tú persigues.
And he said—Who art thou, Lord? And, he, [said] —I, am Jesus, whom, thou, art persecuting!
6 Levántate, entra en la ciudad, y allí se te dirá lo que tienes que hacer.
But rise up, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
7 Los hombres que iban con él se detuvieron estupefactos al oír en verdad la voz, pero sin ver a alguien.
But, the men who were accompanying him, stood speechless, —hearing, indeed, the voice, but beholding no one.
8 Entonces Saulo fue levantado de la tierra. Abrió sus ojos y nada veía. Lo tomaron de la mano y lo llevaron a Damasco.
And Saul arose from the earth, and, his eyes being opened, he could see nothing; and, taking him by the hand, they led him into Damascus, —
9 Estuvo tres días sin ver. No comió ni bebió.
And he was three days without seeing, and did neither eat nor drink.
10 Un discípulo llamado Ananías estaba en Damasco. El Señor le habló en visión: Ananías. Y él respondió: Aquí estoy, Señor.
Now there was a certain disciple in Damascus, by name Ananias; and, the Lord, said unto him in a vision—Ananias! And, he, said—Lo! I, [am here], Lord!
11 El Señor le ordenó: Vé a la casa de Judas en la calle Derecha, y pregunta por Saulo de Tarso. Porque ciertamente, él habla con Dios.
And the Lord [said] unto him—Rise! go into the street which is called Straight, and seek, in the house of Judas, one Saul, by name, of Tarsus. For lo! he is praying, —
12 Vio a un hombre que se llama Ananías quien entró e impuso [las] manos sobre él para que viera.
And hath seen a man [in a vision], Ananias by name, coming in and laying on him his hands, to the intent he should see.
13 Ananías respondió: Señor, oí de muchos con respecto a este hombre, cuántos males hizo a tus santos en Jerusalén.
And Ananias, answered—Lord! I have heard from many concerning this man, how many evil things unto thy saints he hath done in Jerusalem;
14 Aquí tiene autoridad de los principales sacerdotes para atar a todos los que invocan tu Nombre.
And, here, he hath authority from the High-priests to bind all them that call upon thy name.
15 Pero el Señor le contestó: Vé, porque éste me es un instrumento elegido para llevar mi Nombre ante naciones, reyes e hijos de Israel.
But the Lord said unto him—Be going thy way; for, a choice vessel unto me, is this man, to bear my name before both [the] nations and kings, and the sons of Israel;
16 Porque Yo le mostraré cuánto tiene que padecer por mi Nombre.
For, I, will let him understand how many things he must needs, for my name, suffer.
17 Entonces Ananías fue a la casa, le impuso las manos y dijo: Hermano Saulo, el Señor Jesús, Quien te apareció en el camino, me envió para que veas y seas lleno del Espíritu Santo.
And Ananias departed, and entered into the house; and, laying upon him his hands, said—Saul, brother! The Lord, hath sent me, —Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way by which thou wast coming, —that thou mayest recover sight, and be filled with Holy Spirit.
18 Al instante le cayeron de los ojos como escamas y recobró la vista. Se levantó y fue bautizado.
And, straightway, there fell from him—from his eyes, —as it were scales; he recovered sight also, and, arising, was immersed:
19 Comió, recuperó la fuerza y se quedó algunos días con los discípulos en Damasco.
And, receiving food, gained strength. And he came to be with the disciples who were in Damascus certain days;
20 De inmediato predicaba a Jesús en las congregaciones judías: ¡Éste es el Hijo de Dios!
And, straightway, in the synagogues, he began proclaiming Jesus, that, This, is the Son of God.
21 Todos los que escuchaban se asombraban y decían: ¿No es éste el que aniquiló a los que invocan este Nombre en Jerusalén? ¿No venía acá para llevarlos atados a los principales sacerdotes?
And all who were hearing were astonished, and began to say—is not, this, he who destroyed, in Jerusalem, them that invoke this name; and, here, for this purpose, had come, in order that he might lead them, bound, unto the High-priests?
22 Pero Saulo confundía mucho más a los judíos que residían en Damasco. Argumentaba: ¡Éste es el Cristo!
But, Saul, was the more gaining power; and was confounding the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, shewing, by comparison, that—This, is the Christ.
23 Después de muchos días los judíos se confabularon para matarlo,
Now, when a considerable number of days were being fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him;
24 pero Saulo supo del complot. Vigilaban estrictamente las puertas de día y de noche para matarlo.
But their plot was made known unto Saul, —and they were even narrowly watching the gates, both day and night, that they might kill him;
25 Una noche los discípulos lo bajaron por el muro en una canasta.
But the disciples, taking him by night, through the wall, let him down, lowering him in a basket.
26 Después de llegar a Jerusalén intentaba reunirse con los discípulos, pero todos le temían, pues no creían que era un discípulo.
And, when he had arrived in Jerusalem, he made attempts to join himself unto the disciples; and all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
27 Pero Bernabé [lo] llevó ante los apóstoles. Les relató cómo vio al Señor en el camino, que Dios le habló, y que Saulo habló con osadía en el Nombre de Jesús en Damasco.
But, Barnabas, taking him, brought him unto the apostles, and related unto them, —how, in the way, he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken unto him; and how, in Damascus, he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.
28 Estaba con [los apóstoles] en Jerusalén. Entraba y salía, y hablaba con osadía en el Nombre del Señor.
And he was with them, coming in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord;
29 También conversaba y discutía con los helenistas, pero ellos intentaban matarlo.
And was both speaking and discussing with the Grecian Jews, —but, they, were setting to work to kill him.
30 Cuando los hermanos lo supieron, lo bajaron a Cesarea y lo enviaron a Tarso.
And the brethren, discovering it, brought him down into Caesarea, and sent him away unto Tarsus.
31 Entretanto la iglesia en toda Judea, Galilea y Samaria tenía paz. Era edificada, andaba en el temor del Señor y se multiplicaba con la fortaleza del Espíritu Santo.
So then, the assembly throughout the whole of Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, had peace, building itself up, and going on its way in the fear of the Lord; and, by the advocacy of the Holy Spirit, was being multiplied.
32 Cuando Pedro recorría la región, fue a visitar a los santos en Lida.
And it came to pass that, Peter, going through all [quarters] went down unto the saints also dwelling in Lydda.
33 Allí encontró a un paralítico llamado Eneas, quien había estado ocho años acostado en una camilla.
And he found there a certain man, by name Aeneas, who, for eight years, had been lying prostrate upon a bed, for he was paralysed.
34 Y Pedro le dijo: ¡Eneas, Jesucristo te sana! ¡Levántate y toma tu cama! Inmediatamente se levantó.
And Peter said unto him—Aeneas! Jesus Christ healeth thee! Arise, and smooth thy bed for thyself. And, straightway, he arose.
35 Lo vieron todos los habitantes de Lida y Sarón, quienes dieron la vuelta hacia el Señor.
And all who dwelt in Lydda and Saron, saw him, —and, they, turned unto the Lord.
36 En Jope estaba una discípula llamada Tabita, que significa Gacela, quien hacía muchas buenas obras y [daba] limosnas.
Now, in Joppa, there was a certain female disciple, by name Tabitha, which, being translated, means Dorcas [a Gazelle]. The same, was full of good works and alms which she was doing.
37 En aquellos días ella enfermó y murió. La lavaron y la pusieron en un aposento alto.
And it came to pass in those days, that she, sickening, died; and, bathing her, they laid her in an upper room.
38 Cuando supieron que Pedro estaba en Jope, lugar que no está lejos de Lida, enviaron a dos hombres para rogarle: No demores en venir acá.
Now, Lydda being nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was therein, sent off two men unto him, beseeching him—Do not delay to come through unto us!
39 Entonces Pedro fue con ellos. Lo llevaron al aposento alto. Las viudas se presentaron ante él. Lloraban y mostraban los vestidos y mantos que Gacela hacía cuando estaba con ellas.
And Peter, arising, went with them, —whom, when he arrived, they brought up into the upper room; and there stood by him all the widows, weeping, and showing the tunics and mantles—whatsoever things Dorcas was making while she was with them.
40 Entonces Pedro mandó que todos salieran de la habitación. Se arrodilló, habló con Dios, se volvió al cuerpo y le dijo: ¡Tabita, levántate! Ella abrió sus ojos, vio a Pedro y [se] sentó.
But Peter, putting them all outside, knelt down and prayed; and, turning towards the body, said—Tabitha, arise! And she, opening her eyes and seeing Peter, sat up.
41 Al darle la mano, la levantó. Llamó a los santos y a las viudas, y la presentó viva.
And, giving her his hand, he raised her up; and, calling the saints and the widows, presented her, living.
42 Esto se supo en toda Jope, y muchos creyeron en el Señor.
And it became known throughout the whole of Joppa, and many believed upon the Lord.
43 Permaneció muchos días en Jope, en la casa de Simón el curtidor.
And it came to pass that, for a considerable number of days, he abode in Joppa, with one Simon, a tanner.
