Hechos 7
1 Entonces el sumo sacerdote preguntó: ¿Es esto cierto?
And the High-priest said—Are these things, so?
2 Y él respondió: Varones hermanos y padres, oigan: El Dios de la gloria apareció a nuestro padre Abraham en Mesopotamia, antes de él vivir en Harán,
And, he, said—Brethren and fathers, hearken! The God of Glory, appeared unto our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, —
3 y le dijo: Sal de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y vé a la tierra que te muestre.
And said unto him—Get thee forth, out of thy land, and from among thy kindred, and come unto the land which, unto thee, I will point out.
4 Salió de [la] tierra de [los] caldeos y vivió en Harán. De allí, después de morir su padre, [Dios] lo trasladó a esta tierra donde ustedes viven ahora.
Then, coming forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, he dwelt in Haran; and, from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, in which, ye, now dwell;
5 Pero no le dio herencia en ella, ni siquiera 30 centímetros. Aunque no tenía hijo, le prometió darla en posesión a él y a su descendencia.
And gave him no inheritance therein, not even a place to set his foot on; and yet promised to give it unto him in possession, and unto his seed after him, when as yet he had not a child.
6 Dios le dijo: Tus descendientes vivirán como extranjeros en una tierra ajena por 400 años, y la esclavizarán y maltratarán.
But God, spake thus—His seed shall be a sojourner in a foreign land, and they will bring it into bondage, and ill-treat it four-hundred years;
7 Pero Yo juzgaré, dijo Dios, a la nación a la cual servirán como esclavos. Después de esto, saldrán y me servirán en este lugar.
And, the nation unto which they shall be in bondage, will, I, judge—said God; and, after these things, shall they come forth, and render divine service unto me, in this place.
8 Hizo con él un Pacto de circuncisión. Así engendró a Isaac y lo circuncidó al octavo día. Isaac [engendró] a Jacob, y Jacob a los 12 patriarcas.
And he gave unto him a covenant of circumcision; and, thus, he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob, the twelve patriarchs.
9 Los patriarcas por envidia hacia José, lo vendieron para Egipto. Pero Dios estaba con él
And, the patriarchs, being jealous of Joseph, gave him up into Egypt; and, God, was, with him,
10 y lo libró de todas sus aflicciones. Le dio gracia y sabiduría delante de Faraón, rey de Egipto, quien lo designó gobernador sobre Egipto y toda su casa.
And rescued him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he appointed him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Entonces en todo Egipto y Canaán vino una hambruna y una gran aflicción, y nuestros antepasados no hallaban alimento.
And there came a famine upon all Egypt and Canaan, and great tribulation, and our fathers could not find pasture.
12 Pero cuando Jacob supo que había alimento en Egipto, envió primero a nuestros antepasados.
But Jacob, hearing there was corn in Egypt, sent off our fathers, first;
13 En la segunda ocasión, José se dio a conocer a sus hermanos, y el linaje de José fue declarado a Faraón.
And, the second time, Joseph was made known unto his brethren, and, the race of Joseph was made, manifest, unto Pharaoh.
14 José llamó a su padre Jacob y a toda su parentela, en número de 75 personas.
And Joseph, sending forth, called for Jacob his father, and all the kindred, consisting of seventy-five souls;
15 Así que Jacob bajó a Egipto, y murieron él y nuestros antepasados.
And Jacob went down [into Egypt]. And he died, he, and our fathers;
16 Sus restos fueron trasladados a Siquem y puestos en el sepulcro que Abraham compró por precio de plata a los hijos de Hamor en Siquem.
And were brought over into Shechem, and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased, for a price of silver, of the sons of Hamor in Shechem.
17 Pero cuando vino el tiempo de la promesa que Dios juró a Abraham, el pueblo crecía y se multiplicaba en Egipto,
Now, just as the time of the promise was drawing near wherewith God had agreed with Abraham, the people grew, and were multiplied in Egypt, —
18 hasta que surgió otro rey que no conocía a José.
Until there arose another sort of king over Egypt, who had not known Joseph.
19 Éste trató con astucia a nuestro linaje y maltrató a los antepasados pues los obligó a que expusieran a sus bebés a la intemperie, a fin de que no sobrevivieran.
The same, dealing craftily with our race, ill-treated our fathers, so as to cause their babes to be exposed, to the end they might not be suffered to live.
20 En aquel tiempo nació Moisés, y fue agradable a Dios. Fue criado tres meses en la casa del padre.
In which season, Moses, was born, and was exceeding goodly, —who was nourished up three months in the house of his father;
21 Pero cuando él fue expuesto, la hija de Faraón lo recogió y lo crió para ella como hijo.
But, when he was exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh rescued him, and nourished him for herself, as a son.
22 Moisés fue educado en toda [la] sabiduría de [los] egipcios y era poderoso en sus palabras y obras.
And, so Moses was trained in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his words and works.
23 Cuando cumplió 40 años, le vino al corazón visitar a sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel.
And, when there was being fulfilled unto him a period of forty years, it came up on his heart to look after his brethren the sons of Israel;
24 Al ver a uno que era tratado injustamente, mató al egipcio y vengó al oprimido.
And, seeing one being wronged, he defended him, and avenged him that was getting worn out, smiting the Egyptian.
25 Suponía entonces que sus hermanos entendían que Dios les daba salvación por medio de él, pero ellos no entendieron.
But he supposed his brethren would understand that, God, through his hand, would give them deliverance; whereas they understood not.
26 Al día siguiente se presentó a [unos de] ellos que se peleaban. Los reconciliaba en paz y decía: Varones, son hermanos. ¿Por qué se maltratan el uno al otro?
On the following day also, he appeared unto them, as they were contending, and would have reconciled them in peace, saying—Men! ye are, brothers! Wherefore wrong ye one another?
27 Pero el que maltrataba a su prójimo lo empujó y dijo: ¿Quién te designó gobernante y juez sobre nosotros?
But, he that was wronging his neighbour, thrust him away, saying—Who hath appointed, thee, to be ruler and judge over us?
28 ¿Quieres tú matarme como mataste ayer al egipcio?
Art, thou, wishing, to kill me, in the same way thou didst kill, yesterday, the Egyptian?
29 Ante esta declaración, Moisés huyó al extranjero, a tierra de Madián, donde engendró dos hijos.
And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
30 Transcurridos 40 años, le apareció un ángel en la región despoblada de la montaña Sinaí, en [la] llama de fuego de una zarza.
And, when forty years were fulfilled, there appeared unto him, in the desert of Mount Sinai, a messenger, in a flame of fire, in a bush.
31 Cuando Moisés la vio, admiraba la visión. Al acercarse para observar, oyó una voz del Señor:
And, Moses, seeing it, marvelled at the sight; and, as he was going near to observe, there came a voice of the Lord—
32 Yo soy el Dios de tus antepasados, el Dios de Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. Moisés quedó aterrado y no [se ]atrevía a mirar.
I, am the God of thy fathers, The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And Moses becoming, terrified, durst not observe.
33 El Señor le dijo: Quita las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es tierra santa.
And the Lord said unto him—Loose the sandals of thy feet; for, the place whereon thou art standing, is, hallowed ground.
34 Ciertamente he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo en Egipto, escuché su gemido y descendí a librarlos. Ahora ven, te enviaré a Egipto.
I have, indeed seen, the ill-treatment of my people that is in Egypt, and, unto their groaning, have I hearkened, and have come down to rescue them. Now, therefore, come! I will send thee into Egypt.
35 A este Moisés, a quien rechazaron y dijeron: ¿Quién te designó gobernante y juez? Dios lo envió como gobernante y redentor por medio de un ángel que le apareció en la zarza.
The same Moses whom they had refused, saying—Who hath appointed thee to be ruler and judge? the same, both as ruler and redeemer, did God send, by the hand of the messenger who had appeared unto him in the bush:
36 Éste los sacó por medio de prodigios y señales milagrosas en la tierra de Egipto, en el mar Rojo y en el desierto durante 40 años.
The same, led them forth, doing wonders and signs in Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the desert, forty years:
37 Éste es el Moisés que dijo a los hijos de Israel: Dios les levantará profeta de entre sus hermanos, como a mí.
The same, is the Moses that said unto the sons of Israel—A prophet, unto you, will God raise up, from among your brethren, like unto me:
38 Éste fue quien estuvo con la congregación en el desierto, con el Ángel que le hablaba en la montaña Sinaí y con nuestros antepasados, quien recibió Palabras vivientes para darnos.
The same, is he that came to be in the assembly in the desert, with the messenger who was speaking with him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, he who welcomed living utterances, to give unto us:
39 Nuestros antepasados no [le] obedecieron, sino [lo] rechazaron. En sus corazones se volvieron a Egipto
Unto whom, our fathers would not become obedient, but thrust him away, and turned in their hearts unto Egypt,
40 y dijeron a Aarón: ¡Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros, porque este Moisés quien nos sacó de [la] tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué le pasó!
Saying unto Aaron—Make as gods who shall go before us; for, as for this Moses who brought us forth out of Egypt, we know not what hath befallen him!
41 En aquellos días hicieron un becerro, ofrecieron sacrificio al ídolo y se regocijaron en las obras de sus manos.
And so they fell to calf-making in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.
42 Pero Dios desistió y los entregó a rendir culto al ejército del cielo, como está escrito en el rollo de los profetas: ¿Oh casa de Israel, me ofrecieron ofrendas y sacrificios en el desierto por 40 años?
But God, turned, and delivered them up to be doing divine service unto the host of heaven, —just as it is written in a book of the prophets—Victims and sacrifices did ye offer unto me, forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?
43 Mas bien llevaron el tabernáculo de Moloc y la estrella del dios Renfán, las imágenes que hicieron para adorarlas. Los deportaré, pues, más allá de Babilonia.
Nay! but ye took with you the tent of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, —the forms which ye made to bow down unto them: therefore will I carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 Nuestros antepasados tenían el Tabernáculo del Testimonio en el desierto, como ordenó el que hablaba a Moisés para hacerlo según el modelo que vio.
The tent of witness, was with our fathers in the desert, according as he who was speaking unto Moses, gave instructions, to make it, according to the model which he had seen.
45 Después que nuestros antepasados lo recibieron, Josué lo introdujo en la posesión de las naciones que Dios expulsó de [la] presencia de nuestros antepasados hasta los días de David,
Which our fathers succeeding to, also brought in, with Joshua, when taking possession of the nations, which God put out from before our fathers until the days of David;
46 quien halló gracia delante de Dios, y pidió construir un Tabernáculo para la casa de Jacob,
Who found favour before God, and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
47 pero Salomón le edificó Casa.
But, Solomon, built him a house.
48 Sin embargo, el Altísimo no mora en [casas] hechas por manos humanas. Como dice el profeta:
Although indeed, the Most High, not in hand-made places, dwelleth; just as, the prophet, saith—
49 El cielo es mi trono, y la tierra, estrado de mis pies. ¿Qué clase de casa me edificarán? dice [el] Señor. ¿O cuál lugar para mi reposo?
Heaven is my thrown, and, the earth, is my footstool: What manner of house, will ye build me, saith the Lord, —Or what shall be the place of my resting?
50 ¿No hizo mi mano todas las cosas?
Hath not, my hand, made all these things?
51 ¡Indómitos e incircuncisos de corazón y de oídos! Ustedes resisten constantemente al Espíritu Santo. Son como sus antepasados.
Ye stiff-necked and uncircumcised in hearts and in ears, ye, always, against the Holy Spirit, do strive! As your fathers, ye also:
52 ¿A cuál de los profetas no persiguieron los antepasados de ustedes? Mataron a los que predijeron la venida del Justo. Lo traicionaron y asesinaron.
Which of the prophets, did not your fathers persecute? Yea they slew them who declared beforehand concerning the coming of the Righteous One—of whom, now, ye, have become, betrayers and murderers!
53 Recibieron la Ley por instrucciones de ángeles y no [la] guardaron.
Who, indeed, received the law through ranks of messengers, —and guarded it not.
54 Al oír estas cosas, sus corazones se enfurecieron y crujían los dientes contra él.
And, while they were hearing these things, they were being pierced in their hearts, and began gnashing their teeth against him.
55 Pero [él], lleno del Espíritu Santo, miró al cielo, vio [la] gloria de Dios y a Jesús en pie a la mano derecha de Dios,
But he, being already full of Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly into heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God;
56 y dijo: ¡Ciertamente veo los cielos abiertos y al Hijo del Hombre en pie a [la ]mano derecha de Dios!
And said—Lo! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man, standing, on the right hand of God.
57 Pero ellos gritaron a gran voz, se taparon los oídos y arremetieron unánimes contra él.
And, crying out with a loud voice, they held their ears, and rushed with one accord upon him;
58 Después de sacarlo de la ciudad, [lo] apedrearon. Los testigos colocaron sus ropas a los pies de un joven llamado Saulo.
And, thrusting him forth outside the city, proceeded to stone him. And, the witnesses, laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 Y mientras apedreaban a Esteban, [él] invocaba: ¡Señor Jesús, recibe mi espíritu!
And they stoned Stephen, as he was invoking and saying—Lord Jesus! give welcome unto my spirit.
60 Cayó de rodillas y clamó a gran voz: ¡Señor, no les atribuyas este pecado! Y después de decir esto durmió.
And, kneeling down, he cried out with a loud voice—Lord! do not charge against them, this sin. And, having said this, he fell asleep.
