Hechos 28
1 Después supimos que la isla se llamaba Malta.
And when we were escaped, then we knew that the island was called Melita.
2 Los nativos nos mostraban una bondad extraordinaria. A causa de la lluvia y el frío encendieron una hoguera y nos acogieron a todos.
And the barbarians shewed us no common kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
3 Pablo recogió una brazada de maleza y la echó al fuego. Una víbora que huía del calor se apoderó de su mano.
But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, a viper came out by reason of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 Cuando los nativos vieron que el animal colgaba de la mano de él, se decían unos a otros: Sin duda, este hombre es un homicida a quien, después de salvarse del mar, la Justicia no le permitió vivir.
And when the barbarians saw the beast hanging from his hand, they said one to another, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped from the sea, yet Justice hath not suffered to live.
5 Pero él sacudió el animal en el fuego y nada malo padeció.
Howbeit he shook off the beast into the fire, and took no harm.
6 Ellos esperaban que él se hinchara o cayera muerto de repente. Pero esperaron mucho y vieron que nada malo le ocurría. Cambiaron de parecer y decían que él era un dios.
But they expected that he would have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but when they were long in expectation, and beheld nothing amiss came to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
7 En los alrededores de aquel lugar había unas tierras de Publio, el principal de la isla. Él nos recibió con mucha bondad y nos hospedó por tres días.
Now in the neighbourhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius; who received us, and entertained us three days courteously.
8 El padre de Publio estaba en cama con fiebre y disentería. Cuando Pablo entró, habló con Dios, impuso las manos sobre él y lo sanó.
And it was so, that the father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery: unto whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laying his hands on him healed him.
9 Cuando sucedió esto, los demás enfermos de la isla acudían y eran sanados.
And when this was done, the rest also which had diseases in the island came, and were cured:
10 Ellos también nos honraron con muchas atenciones, y al zarpar, nos dieron todo lo necesario.
who also honoured us with many honours; and when we sailed, they put on board such things as we needed.
11 Tres meses después nos embarcaron en una nave alejandrina que había invernado en la isla, que tenía escrito en la proa: A los Dióscuros.
And after three months we set sail in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the island, whose sign was The Twin Brothers.
12 Llegamos a Siracusa y permanecimos allí tres días.
And touching at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.
13 Luego bordeamos alrededor y llegamos a Regio. El segundo día sopló un viento del sur y arribamos a Puteoli.
And from thence we made a circuit, and arrived at Rhegium: and after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli:
14 Hallamos allí a unos hermanos y nos invitaron a permanecer siete días. Así llegamos a Roma.
where we found brethren, and were entreated to tarry with them seven days: and so we came to Rome.
15 Cuando los hermanos de allí escucharon con respecto a nosotros fueron a encontrarnos hasta el Foro de Apio y Tres Tabernas. Cuando los vimos Pablo dio gracias a Dios y se animó.
And from thence the brethren, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius, and The Three Taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
16 Entramos en Roma. A Pablo se le permitió que viviera por su cuenta con el soldado que lo custodiaba.
And when we entered into Rome, Paul was suffered to abide by himself with the soldier that guarded him.
17 Al tercer día él convocó a los judíos más prominentes. Cuando llegaron, les dijo: Varones hermanos, yo no hice algo contra el pueblo ni contra las costumbres de los antepasados. Fui entregado preso desde Jerusalén en las manos de los romanos,
And it came to pass, that after three days he called together those that were the chief of the Jews: and when they were come together, he said unto them, I, brethren, though I had done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, yet was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans:
18 quienes me interrogaron y me querían soltar por no hallar en mí ninguna causa de muerte.
who, when they had examined me, desired to set me at liberty, because there was no cause of death in me.
19 Pero al oponerse los judíos, me vi obligado a apelar a César, no porque tenía algo de qué acusar a mi nación.
But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had aught to accuse my nation of.
20 Por esta causa los llamé para verlos y hablarles, pues por la esperanza de Israel estoy rodeado por esta cadena.
For this cause therefore did I entreat you to see and to speak with [me]: for because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
21 Entonces ellos le dijeron: Nosotros no hemos recibido cartas de Judea con respecto a ti, ni llegó algún hermano a denunciar o hablar malo en cuanto a ti.
And they said unto him, We neither received letters from Judaea concerning thee, nor did any of the brethren come hither and report or speak any harm of thee.
22 Pero pensamos que es conveniente escuchar de ti lo que piensas, porque ciertamente sabemos que en todas partes se habla mal de esta secta.
But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.
23 Los citó para un día y muchos acudieron al hospedaje, a quienes exponía mañana y tarde y testificaba solemnemente sobre el reino de Dios. Los persuadía con respecto a Jesús según la Ley de Moisés y los profetas.
And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded [the matter], testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.
24 Ciertamente algunos creyeron lo que Pablo anunciaba, pero otros no.
And some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.
25 No lograban acuerdo y se despedían. Entonces Pablo les dijo: Bien habló el Espíritu Santo por medio del profeta Isaías a los antepasados de ustedes:
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Isaiah the prophet unto your fathers,
26 Vé a este pueblo y dí: Al oír oirán, pero de ningún modo entenderán. Al ver verán, pero de ningún modo percibirán.
saying, Go thou unto this people, and say, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:
27 Porque el corazón de este pueblo fue endurecido. Sus oídos oyeron pesadamente y cerraron sus ojos, para que no vean con los ojos, ni oigan con los oídos, ni entiendan con el corazón, y cambien de mente, y Yo los sane.
For this people’s heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.
28 Sepan ustedes que esta salvación de Dios se envió a los gentiles. Ellos también oirán.
Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles: they will also hear.
30 Permaneció dos años enteros en su [casa] alquilada y recibía a todos los que lo visitaban.
And he abode two whole years in his own hired dwelling, and received all that went in unto him,
31 Proclamaba el reino de Dios y enseñaba con respecto al Señor Jesucristo con toda osadía y sin impedimento.
preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, none forbidding him.
