Hechos 18

1 Después de esto Pablo salió de Atenas y fue a Corinto.

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

2 Halló a Aquila, un judío nativo de Ponto, y a su esposa Priscila, recién llegados de Italia, porque Claudio ordenó a todos los judíos que salieran de Roma. Pablo fue a ellos,

( And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome: ) and he came to them.

3 y por ser del mismo oficio, el de hacer tiendas, permaneció y trabajaba con ellos.

And because he was of the same trade, he abode with them, and worked: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

4 Todos los sábados discutía en la congregación y persuadía a judíos y a griegos.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

5 Cuando Silas y Timoteo bajaron de Macedonia, Pablo se dedicaba por completo a la predicación de la Palabra y declaraba solemnemente a los judíos: Jesús es el Cristo.

And when Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

6 Pero cuando ellos se opusieron y blasfemaron, él sacudió sus ropas y les dijo: ¡La sangre de ustedes caiga sobre su cabeza! ¡Yo cumplí limpiamente mi deber! Desde ahora me voy a los gentiles.

And when they opposed them, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said to them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go to the Gentiles.

7 Cuando salió de allí, entró en casa de Ticio Justo, adorador de Dios, cuya casa estaba junto a la congregación.

And he departed from there, and entered into the house of a certain man named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house was next to the synagogue.

8 También Crispo, el principal de la congregación judía, creyó en el Señor, y toda su casa con él. Muchos corintios escucharon el mensaje, creyeron y fueron bautizados.

And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

9 El Señor dijo a Pablo en visión de noche: No temas. Habla y no calles,

Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 porque Yo estoy contigo. Ninguno te atacará para maltratarte, porque tengo mucho pueblo en esta ciudad.

For I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city.

11 Vivió en [Corinto] 18 meses y les enseñaba la Palabra de Dios.

And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12 Pero en vista de que Galión era procónsul de Acaya, los judíos conspiraron de común acuerdo contra Pablo. Lo llevaron al tribunal

And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

13 y dijeron: Éste incita a los hombres a adorar a Dios contra la Ley.

Saying, This man persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

14 Cuando Pablo iba a hablar, Galión dijo a los judíos: Si en verdad fuera algún crimen o perversa fechoría, oh judíos, según [la] razón los toleraría,

And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked crimes, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

15 pero si son cuestiones de palabra, de nombres y de la Ley de ustedes, entiéndanse ustedes mismos. Yo no quiero ser juez de estas cosas.

But if it is a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

16 Y los echó del tribunal.

And he drove them from the judgment seat.

17 Entonces todos agarraron a Sóstenes, principal de la congregación judía, y [lo] golpeaban delante del tribunal, pero nada de esto [le] importaba a Galión.

Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

18 Pablo permaneció aún muchos días [en Corinto]. Se despidió de los hermanos y navegó hacia Siria con Priscila y Aquila. En Cencreas se rapó la cabeza, porque tenía un voto.

And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and took his leave of the brethren, and sailed from there into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

19 Llegaron a Éfeso y los dejó allí. Él entró en la congregación y discutía con los judíos.

And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

20 Cuando ellos le rogaron que permaneciera más tiempo, no quiso.

When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

21 Se despidió de ellos y dijo: Si Dios quiere, volveré a ustedes. Y zarpó de Éfeso.

But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return to you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

22 Arribó a Cesarea y saludó a la asamblea. Subió a Antioquía

And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and greeted the church, he went down to Antioch.

23 donde permaneció un tiempo. Salió y atravesó una tras otra las regiones de Galacia y Frigia, y fortalecía a todos los discípulos.

And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

24 Entonces llegó a Éfeso un judío llamado Apolos, de origen alejandrino, varón elocuente y poderoso en las Escrituras.

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 Éste era instruido en el camino del Señor. Era ferviente de espíritu. Hablaba y enseñaba con diligencia con respecto a Jesús, aunque solo conocía el bautismo de Juan.

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 Éste comenzó a hablar con osadía en la congregación judía, pero cuando Priscila y Aquila lo oyeron, lo tomaron aparte y le expusieron más exactamente el Camino.

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly.

27 Cuando él quiso viajar a Acaya para animar a los hermanos, [Priscila y Aquila] escribieron a los discípulos para que lo recibieran. Cuando llegó, ayudó mucho a los que por gracia habían creído.

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he had come, helped them much who had believed through grace:

28 Refutaba con ímpetu a los judíos en público y demostraba por medio de las Escrituras que Jesús es el Cristo.

For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
