< 2 Samuel 8 >
1 Después de esto aconteció que David derrotó a los filisteos y los sometió. David tomó la rienda de la ciudad principal de la mano de los filisteos.
And it came to pass after this, that David struck the Philistines, and put them to flight, and David took the tribute from out of the hand of the Philistines.
2 También derrotó a Moab y los midió con cordel. Los hacía tenderse en tierra: dos cordeles para morir, y un cordel para vivir. Los moabitas fueron esclavos de David y pagaron tributo.
And David struck Moab, and measured them out with lines, having laid them down on the ground: and there were two lines for slaying, and two lines he kept alive: and Moab became servants to David, yielding tribute.
3 David derrotó a Hadad-ezer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, cuando éste iba a establecer su dominio hasta el río Éufrates.
And David struck Adraazar the son of Raab king of Suba, as he went to extend his power to the river Euphrates.
4 David le capturó 1.700 jinetes y 20.000 hombres de infantería. David desjarretó los caballos de los carruajes y dejó solo para 100 carruajes.
And David took a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all his chariot [horses], and he reserved to himself a hundred chariots.
5 Cuando los sirios de Damasco fueron a ayudar a Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba, David mató a 22.000 hombres de los sirios
And Syria of Damascus comes to help Adraazar king of Suba, and David struck twenty-two thousand men belonging to the Syrian.
6 y estableció guarniciones en Siria de Damasco. Los sirios fueron esclavos de David, y pagaron tributo. A dondequiera que David iba, Yavé le daba la victoria.
And David placed a garrison in Syria near Damascus, and the Syrians became servants and tributaries to David: and the Lord preserved David wherever he went.
7 David tomó los escudos de oro que llevaban los esclavos de Hadad-ezer y los llevó a Jerusalén.
And David took the golden bracelets which were on the servants of Adraazar king of Suba, and brought them to Jerusalem. And Susakim king of Egypt took them, when he went up to Jerusalem in the days of Roboam son of Solomon.
8 También el rey David tomó gran cantidad de bronce de Beta y Berotai, ciudades de Hadad-ezer.
And king David took from Metebac, and from the choice cities of Adraazar, very much brass: with that Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the lavers, and all the furniture.
9 Cuando Toi, rey de Hamat, oyó que David venció a todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,
And You the king of Hemath heard that David had struck all the host of Adraazar.
10 Toi envió a su hijo Joram al rey David para saludarlo y felicitarlo por el combate y la derrota de Hadad-ezer, pues Toi era enemigo de Hadad-ezer. Joram trajo objetos de plata, oro y bronce en su mano,
And You sent Jedduram his son to king David, to ask him of his welfare, and to congratulate him on his fighting against Adraazar and striking him, for he was an enemy to Adraazar: and in his hands were vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass.
11 los cuales el rey David dedicó a Yavé, junto con la plata y el oro que tomó de todas las naciones sometidas:
And these king David consecrated to the Lord, with the silver and with the gold which he consecrated out of all the cities which he conquered,
12 de Aram, Moab, los amonitas, los filisteos, Amalec y del despojo de Hadad-ezer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.
out of Idumea, and out of Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalec, and from the spoils of Adraazar son of Raab king of Suba.
13 David también ganó renombre para él cuando regresó de derrotar a 18.000 sirios en el valle de la Sal.
And David made [himself] a name: and when he returned he struck Idumea in Gebelem to [the number of] eighteen thousand.
14 Estableció guarniciones en Edom. Por todo Edom instaló guarniciones, y todos los edomitas fueron esclavos de David. A dondequiera que David iba, Yavé le daba la victoria.
And he set garrisons in Idumea, even in all Idumea: and all the Idumeans were servants to the king. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.
15 David reinó sobre todo Israel y practicaba el justo juicio con todo su pueblo.
And David reigned over all Israel: and David wrought judgment and justice over all his people.
16 Joab, hijo de Sarvia, estaba al mando del ejército, y Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era el cronista.
And Joab the son of Saruia [was] over the host; and Josaphat the son of Achilud [was keeper] of the records.
17 Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob, y Ahimelec, hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes. Seraías era el escriba.
And Sadoc the son of Achitob, and Achimelech son of Abiathar, [were] priests; and Sasa [was] the scribe,
18 Benaía, hijo de Joiada, estaba a cargo de los cereteos y de los peleteos. Los hijos de David eran los príncipes.
and Banaeas son of Jodae [was] councillor, and the Chelethite and the Phelethite, and the sons of David, were princes of the court.
