2 Samuel 2
1 Después de esto aconteció que David consultó a Yavé, y preguntó: ¿Subo a alguna de las ciudades de Judá? Y Yavé le contestó: Sube. Y David preguntó: ¿A dónde subo? Y Él respondió: A Hebrón.
After this, Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go vp into any of the cities of Iudah? And the Lord sayd vnto him, Goe vp. And Dauid sayd Whither shall I goe? Hee then answered, Vnto Hebron.
2 David subió allá, y también sus dos esposas Ahinoam la jezreelita, y Abigail, la que fue esposa de Nabal carmelita.
So Dauid went vp thither, and his two wiues also, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.
3 David también llevó a sus hombres que estaban con él, cada uno con su familia, y vivieron en las ciudades de Hebrón.
And Dauid brought vp the men that were with him, euery man with his houshold, and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
4 Los hombres de Judá llegaron y ungieron allí a David como rey sobre la casa de Judá. Le informaron a David: Los hombres de Jabes de Galaad son los que sepultaron a Saúl.
Then the men of Iudah came, and there they anoynted Dauid King ouer the house of Iudah. And they tolde Dauid, saying, that the men of Iabesh Gilead buried Saul.
5 David envió mensajeros a los hombres de Jabes de Galaad y les dijo: Benditos sean ustedes por Yavé, porque hicieron esta misericordia con su ʼadón Saúl al sepultarlo.
And Dauid sent messengers vnto the men of Iabesh Gilead, and said vnto them, Blessed are ye of the Lord, that yee haue shewed such kindenes vnto your lord Saul, that you haue buried him.
6 Ahora Yavé mostrará su bondad hacia ustedes, y también yo les recompensaré esa bondad por haber hecho tal cosa.
Therefore now the Lord shewe mercie and trueth vnto you: and I will recompence you this benefite, because ye haue done this thing.
7 Ahora pues, fortalézcanse sus manos y sean valientes, pues después de morir Saúl, su ʼadón, los de la casa de Judá me ungieron como rey de ellos.
Therefore nowe let your handes be strong, and be you valiant: albeit your master Saul bee dead, yet neuerthelesse the house of Iudah hath anoynted me King ouer them.
8 Pero Abner, hijo de Ner, jefe del ejército de Saúl, tomó a Is-boset, hijo de Saúl, lo llevó a Mahanaim
But Abner the sonne of Ner that was captaine of Sauls hoste, tooke Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul, and brought him to Mahanaim,
9 y lo proclamó rey sobre Galaad, Asurí, Jezreel, Efraín, Benjamín y todo Israel.
And made him King ouer Gilead, and ouer the Ashurites, and ouer Izreel, and ouer Ephraim, and ouer Beniamin, and ouer al Israel.
10 Is-boset, hijo de Saúl, tenía 40 años cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó dos años. Solo la casa de Judá seguía a David.
Ish-bosheth Sauls sonne was fourtie yeere olde when he began to reigne ouer Israel, and reigned two yeere: but the house of Iudah followed Dauid.
11 David fue rey en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá siete años y seis meses.
(And the time which Dauid reigned in Hebron ouer the house of Iudah, was seuen yeere and sixe moneths)
12 Abner, hijo de Ner, salió de Mahanaim a Gabaón con los esclavos de Is-boset, hijo de Saúl.
And Abner the sonne of Ner, and the seruantes of Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul went out of Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 Joab, hijo de Sarvia, y los esclavos de David salieron y los encontraron junto al estanque de Gabaón. Éstos se sentaron a un lado del estanque y aquéllos al otro lado.
And Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and the seruants of Dauid went out and met one another by the poole of Gibeon: and they sate downe, the one on the one side of the poole, and the other on the otherside of the poole.
14 Abner dijo a Joab: ¡Levántense los jóvenes y que compitan ante nosotros! Y Joab respondió: ¡Que se levanten!
Then Abner saide to Ioab, Let the yong men nowe arise, and play before vs. And Ioab said, Let them arise.
15 Se levantaron y avanzaron: 12 por Benjamín y por Is-boset, hijo de Saúl, y 12 de los esclavos de David.
Then there arose and went ouer twelue of Beniamin by number, which perteined to Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul, and twelue of the seruants of Dauid.
16 Echó mano cada uno de la cabeza de su contrario, le hundió la espada en el costado y cayeron juntos, por lo cual fue llamado aquel lugar Campo de los Lados, el cual está en Gabaón.
And euery one caught his fellowe by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellowes side, so they fell downe together: wherefore ye place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
17 Aquel día la batalla fue muy dura, pero Abner y los hombres de Israel fueron derrotados delante de los esclavos de David.
And the battel was exceeding sore that same day: for Abner and the men of Israel fell before the seruants of Dauid.
18 Estaban allí los tres hijos de Sarvia: Joab, Abisai y Asael. Y Asael era tan veloz de pies como las gacelas del campo.
And there were three sonnes of Zeruiah there, Ioab, and Abishai, and Asahel. And Asahel was as light on foote as a wilde roe.
19 Asael persiguió a Abner, y no se desviaba de detrás de Abner ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda.
And Asahel followed after Abner, and in going he turned neither to the right hand nor to the left from Abner.
20 Abner, al regresar, le dijo: ¿Eres Asael? Y le respondió: Sí, soy yo.
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, Yea.
21 Abner le dijo: Apártate a la derecha o a la izquierda. Echa mano a uno de los jóvenes y toma su despojo. Pero Asael no quiso dejar de perseguirlo.
Then Abner said, Turne thee either to the right hande, or to the left, and take one of the yong men, and take thee his weapons: and Asahel would not depart from him.
22 Y Abner volvió a decir a Asael: ¡Deja de perseguirme! ¿Por qué debo herirte y derribarte a tierra? ¿Cómo levantaré mi rostro ante Joab tu hermano?
And Abner saide to Asahel, Depart from me: wherefore shoulde I smite thee to the grounde? howe then shoulde I be able to holde vp my face to Ioab thy brother?
23 Pero como él no quiso apartarse, Abner lo hirió con el casquillo de la lanza por la quinta costilla, y la lanza le salió por la espalda. Allí cayó y murió en el mismo sitio. Sucedió que todo el que llegaba al lugar donde Asael cayó muerto, se detenía.
And when he woulde not depart, Abner with the hinder ende of the speare smote him vnder the fift ryb, that the speare came out behind him: and he fell downe there, and dyed in his place. And as many as came to the place where Asahel fell downe and dyed, stoode still.
24 Pero Joab y Abisai siguieron tras Abner. Cuando se ocultó el sol ellos llegaron a la colina de Amá, que está delante de Gía, en el camino a la región despoblada de Gabaón.
Ioab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sunne went downe, when they were come to the hill Ammah, that lieth before Giah, by the way of the wildernesse of Gibeon.
25 Y los hijos de Benjamín se agruparon detrás de Abner y formaron una sola tropa. Se detuvieron en la cumbre de una colina.
And the children of Beniamin gathered them selues together after Abner, and were on an heape and stoode on the top of an hill.
26 Entonces Abner gritó a Joab: ¿Devorará la espada para siempre? ¿No sabes que al final habrá amargura? ¿Hasta cuándo te tardas en decir al pueblo que deje de perseguir a sus hermanos?
Then Abner called to Ioab, and said, Shall the sworde deuoure for euer? knowest thou not, that it will be bitternesse in the latter ende? howe long then shall it be, or thou bid the people returne from following their brethren?
27 Y Joab contestó: Vive ʼElohim que si no hubieras hablado, ciertamente el pueblo no hubiera dejado de perseguir a su prójimo hasta la mañana.
And Ioab sayde, As God liueth, if thou haddest not spoken, surely euen in the morning the people had departed euery one backe from his brother.
28 Joab ordenó sonar la corneta y todo el pueblo se detuvo. No persiguieron más a Israel ni continuaron la lucha.
So Ioab blew a trumpet, and all the people stoode still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
29 Abner y sus hombres caminaron por el Arabá toda aquella noche, y al cruzar el Jordán marcharon por todo el Bitrón y llegaron a Mahanaim.
And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plaine, and went ouer Iorden, and past through all Bithron till they came to Mahanaim.
30 Joab también volvió de perseguir a Abner. Cuando pasó revista a todo el ejército, faltaron de los esclavos de David 19 hombres y Asael.
Ioab also returned backe from Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of Dauids seruants nineteene men and Asahel.
31 Pero los esclavos de David hirieron a 360 hombres de Benjamín dirigidos por Abner, quienes murieron.
But the seruants of Dauid had smitten of Beniamin, and of Abners men, so that three hundreth and threescore men dyed.
32 Llevaron a Asael y lo sepultaron en el sepulcro de su padre que estaba en Belén. Después Joab y sus hombres caminaron toda aquella noche hasta que les amaneció en Hebrón.
And they tooke vp Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem: and Ioab and his men went all night, and when they came to Hebron, the day arose.
