2 Crónicas 28
1 Acaz tenía 20 años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó 16 años en Jerusalén, pero no hizo lo recto ante Yavé como David su antepasado.
Achaz was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord, as David his father.
2 Anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel e hizo imágenes de fundición de los baales.
But he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, for he made graven images.
3 Quemó incienso en el valle del hijo de Hinom y pasó a sus hijos por fuego, según las repugnancias de los pueblos que Yavé expulsó de delante de los hijos de Israel.
And [he sacrificed] to their idols in the valley of Benennom, and passed his children through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.
4 También sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, en las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.
And he burnt incense upon the high places, and upon the roofs, and under every shady tree.
5 Por tanto, Yavé su ʼElohim lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, quienes lo derrotaron y le tomaron gran número de prisioneros que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, quien lo derrotó con gran matanza.
And the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and he struck him, and took captive of them a great band of prisoners, and carried him to Damascus. Also [God] delivered him into the hands of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.
6 Porque Peca, hijo de Remalías mató a 120.000 hombres en un solo día en Judá, todos ellos hombres valientes, por cuanto abandonaron a Yavé el ʼElohim de sus antepasados.
And Phakee the son of Romelias king of Israel, killed in Juda in one day a hundred and twenty thousand mighty men; because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.
7 También Zicri, un valiente de Efraín, mató a Maasías, hijo del rey, a Azricam, mayordomo del palacio, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.
And Zechri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maasias the king's son, and Ezrican the chief of his house, and Elcana the king's deputy.
8 Los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivos a 200.000 de sus hermanos, mujeres, hijo e hijas. También tomaron de ellos un gran botín y se lo llevaron a Samaria.
And the children of Israel took captive of their brethren three hundred thousand, women, and sons, and daughters, and they spoiled them of much property, and brought the spoils to Samaria.
9 Pero había allí un profeta de Yavé llamado Oded, quien salió al encuentro del ejército que regresaba a Samaria y les dijo: Ciertamente a causa de que Yavé el ʼElohim de los antepasados de ustedes estaba airado contra Judá, los entregó en su mano, pero ustedes los mataron con una ira que llegó hasta los cielos.
And there was there a prophet of the Lord, his name [was] Oded: and he went out to meet the host that were coming to Samaria, and said to them, Behold, the wrath of the Lord God of your fathers [is] upon Juda, and he has delivered them into your hands, and you have slain them in wrath, and it has reached even to heaven.
10 Ahora se proponen someter a ustedes mismos al pueblo de Judá y de Jerusalén como esclavos y esclavas. ¿Ciertamente no practican ustedes transgresiones contra Yavé su ʼElohim?
And now you talk of keeping the children of Juda and Jerusalem for servants and handmaidens. Behold, am I not with you to testify for the Lord your God?
11 Ahora pues, escúchenme, y devuelvan a los cautivos que tomaron de sus hermanos, pues el ardor de la ira de Yavé está contra ustedes.
And now listen to me, and restore the prisoners of your brethren whom you have taken: for the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon you.
12 Entonces algunos de los jefes de los hijos de Efraín: Azarías, hijo de Hohanam, Berequías y Ezequías, hijo de Meshillemoth, Jehizhiah, hijo de Salum y Amasa, hijo de Hadlai, se levantaron contra los que llegaban de la batalla
And the chiefs of the sons of Ephraim rose up, Udias the son of Joanas, and Barachias the son of Mosolamoth, and Ezekias the son of Sellem, and Amasias the son of Eldai, against those that came from the war,
13 y les dijeron: No traigan acá a los cautivos, porque el pecado contra Yavé caerá sobre nosotros. Ustedes tratan de añadir a nuestros pecados y culpas, pues es muy grande nuestro delito. El ardor de su ira está contra Israel.
and said to them, You shall not bring in hither the prisoners to us, for whereas sin against the Lord [is] upon us, you mean to add to our sins, and to our trespass: for our sin [is] great, and the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon Israel.
14 Entonces el ejército dejó a los cautivos y el botín delante de los jefes y de toda la congregación.
So the warriors left the prisoners and the spoils before the princes and all the congregation.
15 Se levantaron unos varones que fueron designados por nombre y tomaron a los cautivos. Con los despojos vistieron a todos los que estaban desnudos entre ellos y los calzaron. Les dieron de comer y beber, y los ungieron. Llevaron a los débiles en asnos y los condujeron a Jericó, la ciudad de las palmeras, cerca de sus hermanos. Y ellos regresaron a Samaria.
And the men who were called by name rose up, and took hold of the prisoners, and clothed all the naked from the spoils, and gave them garments and shoes, and gave them [food] to eat, and [oil] to anoint themselves [with], and they helped also every one that was weak with asses, and placed them in Jericho, the city of palm-trees, with their brethren; and they returned to Samaria.
16 En aquel tiempo el rey Acaz envió a pedir ayuda al rey de Asiria,
At that time king Achaz sent to the king of Assyria to help him, and on this occasion,
17 porque los edomitas llegaron otra vez, atacaron a Judá y llevaron cautivos.
because the Idumeans had attacked [him], and struck Juda, and taken a number of prisoners.
18 También los filisteos hicieron una incursión en las ciudades de la Sefela y del Neguev de Judá. Tomaron Bet-semes, Ajalón, Gederot y Socó con sus aldeas, Timná con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas, y se establecieron allí,
Also the Philistines had made an attack on the cities of the plain country, and the cities of the south of Juda, and taken Baethsamys, and [the things in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes: and they gave to the king] Aelon, and Galero, and Socho and her villages, and Thamna and her villages, and Gamzo and her villages: and they lived there.
19 por cuanto Yavé humilló a Judá a causa de Acaz, rey de Judá, quien promovió el desenfreno en Judá y fue muy infiel a Yavé.
For the Lord humbled Juda because of Achaz king of Juda, because he grievously departed from the Lord.
20 Tiglat-Pileser, rey de Asiria, fue a él, pero lo redujo en lugar de fortalecerlo.
And there came against him Thalgaphellasar king of Assyria, and he afflicted him.
21 Aunque Acaz despojó la Casa de Yavé, el palacio real y las casas de los jefes para pagar al rey de Asiria, eso no le ayudó.
And Achaz took the things [that were] in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave them to the king of Assyria: but he was no help to him,
22 En el tiempo de su aflicción, el rey Acaz aumentó su infidelidad a Yavé,
but only [troubled him] in his affliction: and he departed yet more from the Lord, and king Achaz said,
23 pues ofreció sacrificios a los ʼelohim de los damascenos que lo vencieron. Decía: Ya que los ʼelohim de los reyes de Siria los ayudaron, yo también ofreceré sacrificios a ellos para que me ayuden. Pero éstos fueron su ruina y la de todo Israel.
I will seek after the gods of Damascus that strike me. And he said, Forasmuch as the gods of the king of Syria themselves strengthen them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, and they will help me. But they became a stumbling block to him, and to all Israel.
24 Además de esto, Acaz recogió los utensilios de la Casa de ʼElohim y los despedazó. Cerró las puertas de la Casa de Yavé e hizo altares en cada esquina de Jerusalén.
And Achaz removed the vessels of the house of the Lord, and cut them in pieces, and shut the doors of the house of the Lord, and made to himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem:
25 Hizo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá para quemar incienso a otros ʼelohim. Así provocó la ira de Yavé, el ʼElohim de sus antepasados.
and in each several city in Juda he made high places to burn incense to strange gods: and they provoked the Lord God of their fathers.
26 Los demás hechos [de Acaz] y todos sus procedimientos, los primeros y los últimos, ciertamente están escritos en el rollo de los Reyes de Judá y de Israel.
And the rest of his acts, and his deeds, the first and the last, behold, [they are] written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.
27 Acaz reposó con sus antepasados y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Ezequías.
And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; for they did not bring him into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Ezekias his son reigned in his stead.
