2 Crónicas 14
1 Abías descansó con sus antepasados y lo sepultaron en la Ciudad de David. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Asa. En su tiempo la tierra estuvo en paz durante diez años.
And Abijah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Asa his son in his stead: in his days was the land quiet ten years.
2 Asa hizo lo bueno y lo recto ante Yavé su ʼElohim,
And Asa doth that which is good, and that which is right, in the eyes of Jehovah his God,
3 porque quitó los altares de culto extraño y los lugares altos, quebró las piedras rituales y destruyó los símbolos de Asera.
and turneth aside the altars of the stranger, and the high places, and breaketh the standing-pillars, and cutteth down the shrines,
4 Mandó a Judá que buscara a Yavé, el ʼElohim de sus antepasados, y que practicara la Ley y sus Mandamientos.
and saith to Judah to seek Jehovah, God of their fathers, and to do the law and the command;
5 Además quitó los lugares altos y las imágenes de todas las ciudades de Judá. En su reinado hubo paz.
and he turneth aside out of all cities of Judah the high places and the images, and the kingdom is quiet before him.
6 También edificó ciudades fortificadas en Judá, porque había paz. No hubo guerra contra él en aquellos años, pues Yavé le dio paz.
And he buildeth cities of bulwarks in Judah, for the land hath quiet, and there is no war with him in these years, because Jehovah hath given rest to him.
7 Así que [el rey Asa] dijo a Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades y rodeémoslas con muros y torres, portones y barras, ya que la tierra aún es nuestra, porque buscamos a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim. Lo buscamos, y Él nos dio reposo por todas partes. Así que edificaron y prosperaron.
And he saith to Judah, 'Let us build these cities, and compass [them] with wall, and towers, two-leaved doors, and bars, while the land [is] before us, because we have sought Jehovah our God, we have sought, and He giveth rest to us round about;' and they build and prosper.
8 Asa tuvo un ejército de 300.000 hombres de Judá, quienes llevaban escudos y lanzas, y 280.000 de Benjamín, quienes llevaban escudos y tensaban arcos. Todos eran hombres valientes.
And there is to Asa a force bearing target and spear, out of Judah three hundred thousand, and out of Benjamin, bearing shield and treading bow, two hundred and eighty thousand: all these [are] mighty of valour.
9 Zera, el etíope, salió contra ellos con un ejército de 1.000.000 de hombres y 300 carruajes, y llegó hasta Maresa.
And come out unto them doth Zerah the Cushite with a force of a thousand thousand, and chariots three hundred, and he cometh in unto Mareshah,
10 Entonces Asa salió contra él. Dispusieron la batalla en el valle de Sefata, junto a Maresa.
and Asa goeth out before him, and they set battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11 Asa invocó a Yavé su ʼElohim: ¡Oh Yavé, no hay otro como Tú para ayudar, tanto al poderoso como al que no tiene fuerza! ¡Ayúdanos, oh Yavé ʼElohim nuestro, porque en ti nos apoyamos, y en tu Nombre vamos contra esta multitud! Oh Yavé, Tú eres nuestro ʼElohim, no prevalezca el hombre contra Ti.
And Asa calleth unto Jehovah his God, and saith, 'Jehovah! it is nothing with Thee to help, between the mighty and those who have no power; help us, O Jehovah, our God, for on Thee we have leant, and in Thy name we have come against this multitude; O Jehovah, our God thou [art]; let him not prevail with Thee — mortal man!
12 Yavé derrotó a los etíopes ante Asa y Judá, y los etíopes huyeron.
And Jehovah smiteth the Cushim before Asa, and before Judah, and the Cushim flee,
13 Asa y el ejército que lo acompañaba los persiguieron hasta Gerar. Cayeron tantos de los etíopes que no pudieron recuperarse, porque fueron destrozados ante Yavé y su ejército. Les tomaron un botín muy grande.
and Asa and the people who [are] with him pursue them even to Gerar, and there fall of the Cushim, for they have no preserving, because they have been broken before Jehovah, and before His camp; and they bear away very much spoil,
14 Atacaron también todas las ciudades alrededor de Gerar, porque el terror de Yavé estaba sobre ellas. Saquearon todas las ciudades, pues había en ellas un gran botín.
and smite all the cities round about Gerar, for a fear of Jehovah hath been upon them, and they spoil all the cities, for abundant spoil hath been in them;
15 También atacaron las tiendas de los que tenían ganado. Se llevaron muchas ovejas y camellos y regresaron a Jerusalén.
and also tents of cattle they have smitten, and they capture sheep in abundance, and camels, and turn back to Jerusalem.
