1 Samuel 6
1 El Arca de Yavé permaneció siete meses en el campo de los filisteos.
And it came to pass, that the ark of Yahweh was in the country of the Philistines, seven months.
2 Entonces los filisteos convocaron a sus sacerdotes y adivinos y les preguntaron: ¿Qué hacemos con el Arca de Yavé? Dígannos de qué manera la debemos enviar a su lugar.
Then called the Philistines for the priests and for the diviners, saying, What shall we do with the ark of Yahweh? Let us know, wherewith we shall send it to its own place.
3 Y respondieron: Si envían el Arca del ʼElohim de Israel, no la envíen vacía, sino ciertamente deben devolverle a Él una ofrenda por la culpa, y entonces serán sanados. De esta manera sabrán por qué su mano no se apartó de sobre ustedes.
And they said—If ye are going to send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away, empty, but ye must, surely return, to him, a guilt-offering, —then, shall ye be healed, and it shall be known to you, wherefore his hand would not turn away from you.
4 Y ellos preguntaron: ¿Cuál será la ofrenda por la culpa que le debemos enviar? Y respondieron: Cinco tumores de oro y cinco ratones de oro, según el número de los jefes de los filisteos, por cuanto una misma plaga estuvo sobre todos ustedes y sus jefes.
And they said—What shall be the guilt-offering, that we shall return to him? And they said—By the number of the lords of the Philistines, five tumours of gold, and five mice of gold, —for, one plague, was on you all, and on your lords.
5 Por tanto, hagan figuras de sus tumores y de los ratones que destruyen la tierra, y den gloria al ʼElohim de Israel. Tal vez alivie su mano de sobre ustedes, sus ʼelohim, y su tierra.
Wherefore ye shall make likenesses of your turnouts, and likenesses of your mice that are laying waste the land, and shall, give unto the, God of Israel, glory, —Peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your god, and from off your land.
6 ¿Por qué endurecen sus corazones, como los egipcios y Faraón endurecieron sus corazones? Después que él se burló de ellos, ¿no los dejaron ir, y salieron?
Wherefore, then, should ye make your heart dull, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh made their heart dull! When he had done his great doings upon them, did they not let them go, and they departed?
7 Ahora pues, tomen y preparen un carruaje nuevo y dos vacas que estén criando, sobre las cuales no se haya puesto ningún yugo. Sujeten las vacas al carruaje y dejen sus becerros en el establo lejos de ellas.
Now, therefore, take and get ready, one new waggon, and two milch kine, whereon hath never come yoke, —then shall ye fasten the kine in the waggon, and withdraw their calves from them, into the shed;
8 Después tomen el Arca de Yavé y pónganla en el carruaje. Y pondrán en una caja al lado de ella los objetos de oro que le devuelven como ofrenda por la culpa. Y dejarán que [el Arca] se vaya.
and ye shall take the ark of Yahweh, and place it in the waggon, also, the jewels of gold which ye send back to him as a guilt-offering, shall ye put into a coffer, at the side thereof, —so shall ye let it go, and it shall depart.
9 Observen, si sube por el camino de su territorio hacia Bet-semes, [entendemos que] Él nos hizo este gran mal. Pero si no, entonces sabremos que no fue su mano la que nos golpeó, sino que nos ocurrió por accidente.
Then shall ye look—if, by the way of its own boundary, it goeth up to Beth-shemesh, he, it was who caused us this great affliction, —but, if not, then shall we know that it was not, his hand, that smote us, a chance, it was, that befell us.
10 Y aquellos hombres lo hicieron así: Tomaron dos vacas que estaban criando, las sujetaron al carruaje y encerraron sus becerros en el establo.
The men, therefore, did so, and took two milch kine, and fastened them in the waggon, —but, their calves, shut they up in the shed.
11 Luego pusieron el Arca de Yavé en el carruaje, junto con la caja de los ratones de oro y las figuras de sus tumores.
And they put the ark of Yahweh, into the waggon, —also the coffer, with the mice of gold, and the likenesses of their tumours.
12 Las vacas se encaminaron por el camino de Bet-semes, y seguían un camino recto, andaban y bramaban sin apartarse ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda. Los jefes de los filisteos fueron tras ellas hasta el límite de Bet-semes.
And the kine went straight along the road, on the way to Beth-shemesh, yea, along the main highway, they went, lowing as they went, turning not aside, to the right hand or to the left. And, the lords of the Philistines, went along after them, as far as the bounds of Beth-shemesh.
13 Los de Bet-semes cosechaban el trigo en el valle, y al levantar sus ojos, vieron el Arca y se regocijaron al verla.
Now, they of Beth-shemesh, were reaping their wheat-harvest in the vale, —so they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to meet it.
14 El carruaje llegó al campo de Josué de Bet-semes, y se detuvo allí, donde había una gran piedra. Ellos entonces cortaron la madera del carruaje, y ofrecieron las vacas en holocausto a Yavé.
And, the waggon, entered into the field of Joshua, a man of Beth-shemesh, and stood still, there, where also, was a great stone, —so they clave into pieces the planks of the waggon, and, the kine, offered they up as an ascending-sacrifice, unto Yahweh.
15 Levitas bajaron el Arca de Yavé y la caja que estaba a su lado, que tenía adentro los objetos de oro, y los pusieron sobre aquella gran piedra. Aquel día los hombres de Bet-semes ofrecieron holocaustos y sacrificios a Yavé.
And, the Levites, took down the ark of Yahweh, and the coffer that was with it, wherein were the jewels of gold, and put them upon the great stone, —and, the men of Beth-shemesh, caused to go up ascending-offerings and offered sacrifices, that day, unto Yahweh.
16 Cuando los cinco jefes de los filisteos vieron esto, regresaron a Ecrón aquel mismo día.
And, the five lords of the Philistines, saw it, —and returned unto Ekron, the same day.
17 Los tumores de oro que los filisteos pagaron a Yavé como ofrenda por la culpa, fueron estos: uno por Asdod, uno por Gaza, uno por Ascalón, uno por Gat y uno por Ecrón.
Now, these, are the golden boils which, the Philistines returned as a guilt-offering unto Yahweh, —For Ashdod, one, for Gaza, one, for Ashkelon, one, for Gath, one, for Ekron, one;
18 Los ratones de oro eran según el número de todas las ciudades de los filisteos pertenecientes a los cinco jefes, tanto ciudades fortificadas como pueblos sin muro. La gran piedra sobre la cual pusieron el Arca de Yavé, permanece en el campo de Josué de Bet-semes hasta hoy.
And the golden mice, by the number of all the cities of the Philistines, pertaining to the five lords, both fortified cities, and country villages, —yea, even the great meadow whereon they rested the ark of Yahweh, until this day, is in the field-land of Joshua, the man of Beth-shemesh.
19 Pero Él castigó a algunos de los hombres de Bet-semes porque miraron dentro del Arca de Yavé. De todo el pueblo mató a 50.070 hombres, y el pueblo hizo duelo porque Yavé lo castigó con gran mortandad.
And, when he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they looked into the ark of Yahweh, yea smote of the people seventy men [and] fifty thousand men, the people mourned, for that Yahweh had smitten the people with a great smiting.
20 Entonces los hombres de Bet-semes dijeron: ¿Quién podrá permanecer en pie delante de Yavé, el ʼElohim santo? ¿A quién subirá desde nosotros?
Then said the men of Beth-shemesh, Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? and, unto whom, shall he go up from us?
21 Y enviaron mensajeros a los habitantes de Quiriat-jearim y dijeron: ¡Los filisteos devolvieron el Arca de Yavé! Bajen, y súbanla al lugar de ustedes.
And they sent messengers unto the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying, —The Philistines have returned the ark of Yahweh, come down, fetch it up unto you.
