1 Samuel 3

1 El joven Samuel ministraba a Yavé en presencia de Elí. En aquellos días la Palabra de Yavé era escasa y las visiones no frecuentes.

Now, the boy Samuel, was ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli, —and, the word of Yahweh, had become rare in those days, there was no well-known vision.

2 Por ese tiempo aconteció que mientras Elí estaba acostado en su aposento, cuando sus ojos comenzaban a oscurecerse de modo que no podía ver,

But it came to pass, at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place, his eyes, having begun to be dim, he could not see,

3 antes que se apagara la lámpara de ʼElohim, y mientras Samuel estaba acostado en el Tabernáculo de Yavé, en el lugar donde estaba el Arca de ʼElohim,

though, the lamp of God, was not yet to be put out, and, Samuel, was lying down in the temple of Yahweh, where was the ark of God,

4 Yavé llamó a Samuel. Él respondió: Aquí estoy.

that Yahweh called unto Samuel, and he said—Behold me!

5 Enseguida corrió hacia Elí y dijo: Aquí estoy. ¿Para qué me llamaste? Y Elí le contestó: Yo no te llamé. Vuelve y acuéstate. Y él volvió y se acostó.

So he ran unto Eli and said—Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said—I called not, return—Its down. So he went, and lie down.

6 Yavé volvió a llamar a Samuel. Samuel se levantó, fue a Elí y dijo: Aquí estoy, ¿para qué me llamaste? Y él respondió: Yo no te llamé, hijo mío. Vuelve y acuéstate.

And again Yahweh called once there—Samuel! Then rose Samuel, and went unto Eli, and said—Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said—I called not, my son, return—lie down.

7 Samuel no conocía aún a Yavé, ni la Palabra de Yavé le había sido aún revelada.

Now, Samuel, as yet knew not Yahweh, —nor, as yet, had been revealed unto him, the word of Yahweh.

8 Yavé llamó a Samuel por tercera vez. Y él se levantó, fue a Elí y dijo: Aquí estoy, porque me llamaste. Entonces Elí entendió que Yavé llamaba al joven.

And again Yahweh called—Samuel! a third time. Then he arose, and went unto Eli, and said—Behold me! for thou calledst me. Then did Eli perceive, that, Yahweh, was calling the boy.

9 Elí dijo a Samuel: Vé y acuéstate. Si te llama, dirás: Habla Yavé, porque tu esclavo escucha. Samuel fue y se acostó en su lugar.

So Eli said to Samuel—Go, lie down, and it shall be, if he call unto thee, that thou shalt say—Speak, Yahweh, for thy servant is listening. And Samuel went, and lay down in his place.

10 Yavé llegó y se detuvo. Como las otras veces llamó: ¡Samuel, Samuel! Y Samuel respondió: Habla, porque tu esclavo escucha.

Then came Yahweh, and stood, and called as time after time—Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant is listening.

11 Yavé dijo a Samuel: Mira, Yo haré una cosa en Israel que al que la oiga, le vendrá un sonido vibrante en ambos oídos.

And Yahweh said unto Samuel, Lo! I am doing a thing, in Israel, —at which both ears of everyone that heareth it shall tingle.

12 Ese día cumpliré contra Elí todas las cosas que anuncié con respecto a su casa, desde el principio hasta el fin.

In that day, will I confirm against Eli, all that I have spoken against his house, —beginning and finishing.

13 Porque le informé que castigaré a su casa para siempre por la iniquidad que él sabía, porque sus hijos trajeron una maldición sobre ellos, y él no los reprendió.

Therefore do I tell him, that I am about to judge his house unto times age-abiding, for the iniquity which he knoweth, in that his sons are cursing God, and he hath not rebuked them.

14 Por eso juré a la casa de Elí que la iniquidad de su casa no tendrá jamás algo que apacigüe, ni con sacrificios ni con ofrendas.

And therefore have I sworn, respecting the house of Eli, —that the iniquity of the house of Eli shall receive no propitiatory-covering, by sacrifice or by present, unto times age-abiding.

15 Samuel estuvo acostado hasta la mañana y abrió las puertas del Tabernáculo de Yavé. Pero Samuel temía contar la visión a Elí.

And Samuel lay until the morning, and rose early in the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, —but, Samuel, feared to tell the appearing, unto Eli.

16 Así que Elí llamó a Samuel y le dijo: Hijo mío, Samuel. Y él respondió: Aquí estoy.

So Eli called Samuel, and said—Samuel! my son. And he said—Behold me!

17 Y preguntó: ¿Cuál es la Palabra que te habló? Te ruego que no me la ocultes. Así te haga ʼElohim y aún te añada, si me ocultas alguna Palabra de todas las que te habló.

And he said—What is the word, which he spake unto thee? I pray thee, do not hide it from me. So, let God do to thee, and, so, let him add, if thou hide from me a word, out of anything which he hath spoken unto thee.

18 Entonces Samuel le contó todo, sin ocultarle nada. Y él respondió: Es Yavé. Haga lo que le parezca bien.

So Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, Yahweh, he is; what is good in his own eyes, let him do.

19 Samuel creció, y Yavé estaba con él, y no dejó caer a tierra ninguna de sus Palabras.

And Samuel grew, —and, Yahweh, proved to he with him, and let none of all his words fall to the ground.

20 Todo Israel, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, supo que Samuel fue designado profeta de Yavé.

So all Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, came to know, —that Samuel had become confirmed as a prophet unto Yahweh.

21 Yavé volvió a aparecer en Silo, porque Yavé se revelaba a Samuel en Silo a través de la Palabra de Yavé.

Thus did Yahweh again appear in Shiloh, —for Yahweh had revealed himself unto Samuel in Shiloh, in the word of Yahweh.
