1 Pedro 3
1 Del mismo modo ustedes esposas, sujétense a sus esposos para que también los que no creen en la Palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por medio de la conducta de sus esposas
In like manner, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be gained by the behaviour of their wives;
2 cuando consideren su conducta casta y respetuosa.
beholding your chaste behaviour [coupled] with fear.
3 Su adorno no sea el externo, de peinados ostentosos, de joyas de oro o de vestidos lujosos,
Whose [adorning] let it not be the outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;
4 sino el adorno imperecedero de un espíritu agradable y apacible, el cual es muy valioso y es de grande estima delante de Dios.
but [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [apparel] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 Porque así también se adornaban en otro tiempo las santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, y estaban sometidas a sus esposos,
For after this manner aforetime the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
6 como Sara obedeció a Abraham y lo llamaba señor, de la cual ustedes son hijas cuando hacen el bien sin temor.
as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose children ye now are, if ye do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
7 Los esposos del mismo modo, convivan con comprensión, y muestren honor a la esposa como a vaso más frágil, y como a coherederas de [la] gracia de [la] vida, para que sus conversaciones con Dios no sean impedidas.
Ye husbands, in like manner, dwell with [your wives] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the woman, as unto the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finalmente, sean todos de un mismo sentir, compasivos, con amor fraternal, misericordiosos, humildes.
Finally, [be] ye all likeminded, compassionate, loving as brethren, tenderhearted, humbleminded:
9 No devuelvan mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición. Al contrario, bendigan, pues fueron llamados para heredar bendición.
not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but contrariwise blessing; for hereunto were ye called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 Porque: El que desea amar [la] vida Y ver días buenos, Refrene su lengua de mal Y sus labios de hablar engaño.
For, He that would love life, And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Huya del mal y haga el bien. Busque [la ]paz y persígala.
And let him turn away from evil, and do good; Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
12 Porque [los] ojos del Señor están sobre [los] justos Y sus oídos atentos a su súplica. Pero [el] rostro del Señor está contra los que hacen el mal.
For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, And his ears unto their supplication: But the face of the Lord is upon them that do evil.
13 ¿Quién los perjudicará cuando sigan el bien?
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be zealous of that which is good?
14 Pero también si algunos sufren por causa de la justicia son inmensamente felices. Por tanto no se intimiden ni se perturben por temor a ellos.
But and if ye should suffer for righteousness’ sake, blessed [are ye]: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;
15 Santifiquen al Señor Dios en sus corazones. Estén siempre preparados para defender con mansedumbre y reverencia ante todo el que les pida razón de la esperanza que hay en ustedes.
but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: [being] ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:
16 Pero tengan buena conciencia con gentileza y respeto, para que los que calumnian su buena conducta en Cristo se avergüencen.
having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.
17 Porque si es la voluntad de Dios, mejor es que padezcan por hacer el bien que por hacer el mal.
For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that ye suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing.
18 Porque también Cristo padeció una sola vez por [los] pecados, [el] Justo por [los] injustos, para llevarnos a Dios. En verdad murió en el cuerpo, pero fue vivificado en el Espíritu.
Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but quickened in the spirit;
19 Él también fue y predicó a los espíritus que estaban en prisión,
in which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison,
20 los que fueron desobedientes en otro tiempo, cuando esperaba anhelantemente la longanimidad de Dios en [los ]días de Noé, mientras se preparaba el arca en la cual unos pocos, esto es, ocho personas, fueron salvadas por medio del agua.
which aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water:
21 El bautismo en agua, como figura de esa realidad, nos salva, no porque quita las impurezas del cuerpo, sino como la aspiración de una buena conciencia hacia Dios, por la resurrección de Jesucristo,
which also after a true likeness doth now save you, [even] baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
22 Quien ascendió al cielo y se sentó a la derecha de Dios. Ángeles, autoridades y potestades están sujetos a Él.
who is on the right hand of God, having gone into heaven; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
