1 Pedro 2
1 Por tanto desechen toda maldad, engaño, hipocresía, envidias y maledicencia.
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
2 Deseen como bebés recién nacidos la leche espiritual no adulterada para que por medio de ella crezcan en [la] salvación,
as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
3 pues ustedes experimentaron la benignidad del Señor.
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 Acérquense a [Cristo], Piedra Viva, ciertamente desechada por [los] hombres, pero para Dios escogida, preciosa.
Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
5 Ustedes también, como piedras vivas, son edificados como casa espiritual y sacerdocio santo para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales aceptables a Dios por medio de Jesucristo.
You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Por lo cual dice la Escritura: Ciertamente, pongo en Sion la Piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa. Y el que cree en Él, Que de ningún modo sea avergonzado.
Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
7 [Él] es precioso para ustedes los que creen, pero para los incrédulos: [La ]piedra que desecharon los edificadores Fue establecida como la cabeza del ángulo.
For you who believe therefore is the honour, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”
8 Y: Piedra de tropiezo y roca que hace caer. Éstos, al ser desobedientes, tropiezan en la Palabra. Tal es su destino.
and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offence.” For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.
9 Pero ustedes son linaje escogido, sacerdocio real, nación santa, pueblo adquirido por Dios para que proclamen las virtudes del que los llamó de la oscuridad a su luz admirable,
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
10 los que en un tiempo no eran pueblo, pero ahora son pueblo de Dios, los no compadecidos por misericordia, pero ahora compadecidos por misericordia.
In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Amados, les ruego como a extranjeros y peregrinos, que se abstengan de los ardientes deseos humanos que se enfrentan en batalla contra el alma.
Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
12 Sea buena su manera de vivir entre los gentiles, para que cuando los malhechores murmuren de ustedes, glorifiquen a Dios cuando vean sus obras buenas [el] día de la supervisión.
having good behaviour amongst the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Por causa del Señor, sométanse a toda institución que tiene poder como máxima autoridad,
Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme,
14 tanto a los gobernadores, como a los enviados por ellos para castigar a los malhechores y para aprobar a los que hacen bien.
or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.
15 Porque así es la voluntad de Dios, que por hacer bien, callen la ignorancia de los hombres insensatos.
For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
16 [Vivan] como libres, como esclavos de Dios, pero no como si tuvieran la libertad como pretexto para la maldad.
Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
17 Honren a todos, amen a la hermandad, teman a Dios, honren al rey.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
18 Esclavos, sométanse con todo respeto a sus amos, no solo a los buenos y apacibles, sino también a los ásperos.
Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
19 Porque esto merece aprobación: cuando alguno soporta aflicciones y padece injustamente por causa de la conciencia delante de Dios.
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience towards God.
20 Pues ¿qué mérito tienen si son abofeteados por pecar y soportan? Pero si cuando hacen el bien soportan y padecen, esto ciertamente es agradable ante Dios,
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
21 porque para esto fueron llamados. También Cristo padeció por nosotros y nos dejó ejemplo para que ustedes sigan sus pisadas.
For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
22 Él no pecó, ni fue hallado engaño en su boca.
who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
23 Cuando era insultado, no replicaba. Cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino se encomendaba al que juzga justamente.
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
24 Él mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero para que nosotros muramos a los pecados y vivamos para la justicia. Por su herida fueron sanados.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
25 Ustedes eran como ovejas descarriadas, pero ahora volvieron al Pastor y Supervisor de sus almas.
For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
