1 Corintios 13
1 Si yo hablo en lenguas humanas y angélicas, y no tengo amor, soy un bronce que resuena, o un címbalo que vibra.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 Y si tuviera [don de ]profecía y entendiera todos los misterios y todo conocimiento, y si tuviera toda la fe para remover montañas, pero no tengo amor, nada soy.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.
3 Si distribuyera todas mis posesiones y entregara mi cuerpo para enorgullecerme, pero no tengo amor, de nada me sirve.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.
4 El amor es paciente. Es bondadoso. No está lleno de envidia. No se alaba, no es arrogante,
Love suffereth long, is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not herself, is not puffed up,
5 no es indecente, no es egoísta, no se irrita, no guarda rencor.
doth not behave herself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, maketh no account of an injury,
6 No se goza por la injusticia, pero se regocija por la verdad.
rejoiceth not at iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth,
7 Todo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.
beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 El amor nunca caduca. Pero si hay profecías, cesarán; si hay lenguas, acabarán; si hay conocimiento, será abolido.
Love never faileth; but whether there are prophesyings, they will come to an end; whether tongues, they will cease; whether knowledge, it will be done away.
9 Porque en parte conocemos y en parte profetizamos,
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;
10 pero cuando venga lo perfecto, lo imperfecto será abolido.
but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part will be done away.
11 Cuando [yo] era niño, hablaba como niño, pensaba como niño, opinaba como niño. Cuando llegué a ser hombre, dejé lo que era de niño.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I had the feelings of a child, I thought as a child; since I have become a man, I have put away the things of the child.
12 Porque ahora vemos el reflejo como en un espejo, pero entonces [veremos] cara a cara. Ahora conozco en parte, pero entonces conoceré como he sido conocido.
For now we see in a mirror, obscurely; but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall fully know even as I also am fully known.
13 Y ahora permanecen estos tres: [la] fe, [la ]esperanza, [el ]amor. Pero [el] mayor de éstos es el amor.
And now there abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
