1 sino que digan lo que conviene a la sana doctrina,

Now you, speak the things that suit sound doctrine:

2 que los hombres mayores sean templados, sensatos, de mente sobria, sanos en la fe, en el amor y en la perseverancia,

older men are to be sober, dignified, prudent, sound in the faith, in love and in endurance;

3 y que las mujeres mayores sean igualmente reverentes en su conducta, no calumniadoras ni esclavas del mucho vino

similarly older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good

4 que instruyan a las mujeres jóvenes en el amor a sus maridos, en el amor a sus hijos,

—so that they may instruct the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 que sean sobrias, castas, trabajadoras en el hogar, bondadosas, sometidas a sus propios maridos, para que la palabra de Dios no sea blasfemada.

to be prudent, pure, good homemakers, subordinating themselves to their own husbands, so that the Word of God not be maligned.

6 Asimismo, exhorta a los más jóvenes a ser sobrios.

Similarly, exhort the young men to be self-controlled,

7 En todo, muéstrate como ejemplo de buenas obras. En tu enseñanza, muestra integridad, seriedad, incorruptibilidad,

in all things presenting yourself as an example of good works: showing integrity, dignity and incorruptibility in your teaching

8 y solidez de palabra que no pueda ser condenada, para que el que se oponga a vosotros se avergüence, sin tener nada malo que decir de nosotros.

—healthy speech, beyond reproach—so that the opponent may be put to shame, having nothing slighting to say about us.

9 Exhorta a los siervos a que estén sujetos a sus propios amos y sean agradables en todo, sin contradecir,

Exhort slaves to subordinate themselves to their own owners, to be well pleasing in all things, not talking back,

10 sin robar, sino mostrando toda buena fidelidad, para que adornen en todo la doctrina de Dios, nuestro Salvador.

not pilfering but showing total trustworthiness, so as to adorn the doctrine of our Savior God in everything.

11 Porque la gracia de Dios se ha manifestado, trayendo la salvación a todos los hombres,

For the saving grace of God has appeared for all men,

12 instruyéndonos para que, renunciando a la impiedad y a los deseos mundanos, vivamos en este tiempo sobria, justa y piadosamente; (aiōn g165)

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live prudently, righteously and godly in this present age, (aiōn g165)

13 aguardando la esperanza bienaventurada y la manifestación de la gloria de nuestro gran Dios y Salvador Jesucristo,

looking for the blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

14 que se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros, para redimirnos de toda iniquidad y purificar para sí un pueblo que le pertenezca, celoso de buenas obras.

who gave Himself for us, so that He might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for Himself a special people, zealous for good works.

15 Decid estas cosas y exhortad y reprended con toda autoridad. Que nadie os desprecie.

Speak these things, whether you exhort or reprove, with all authority. Let no one disdain you.
