Romanos 3
1 Entonces, ¿qué ventaja tiene el judío? ¿O cuál es el beneficio de la circuncisión?
WHAT advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
2 ¡Mucho en todos los sentidos! Porque, en primer lugar, se les confiaron las revelaciones de Dios.
Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
3 Pues, ¿qué pasa si algunos carecen de fe? ¿Acaso su falta de fe anularía la fidelidad de Dios?
For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 ¡Que no sea así! Sí, que Dios sea encontrado verdadero, pero todo hombre sea mentiroso. Como está escrito, “para que se justifiquen sus palabras, y pueda prevalecer cuando entre en juicio”.
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
5 Pero si nuestra injusticia alaba la justicia de Dios, ¿qué diremos? ¿Es injusto el Dios que inflige la ira? Hablo como los hombres.
But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
6 ¡Que nunca lo sea! Porque entonces, ¿cómo juzgará Dios al mundo?
God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
7 Pues si la verdad de Dios por mi mentira abundó para su gloria, ¿por qué también yo sigo siendo juzgado como pecador?
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
8 ¿Por qué no (como se nos denuncia calumniosamente, y como algunos afirman que decimos), “Hagamos el mal, para que venga el bien?” Los que así dicen son justamente condenados.
And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say, ) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
9 ¿Qué pasa entonces? ¿Somos mejores que ellos? No, de ninguna manera. Porque ya hemos advertido tanto a los judíos como a los griegos que todos están bajo el pecado.
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
10 Como está escrito, “No hay nadie justo; No, no uno.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 No hay nadie que lo entienda. No hay nadie que busque a Dios.
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 Todos se han alejado. Juntos han dejado de ser rentables. No hay nadie que haga el bien, no, ni siquiera uno”.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 “Su garganta es una tumba abierta. Con sus lenguas han usado el engaño”. “El veneno de las víboras está bajo sus labios”.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 “Su boca está llena de maldiciones y amargura”.
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 “Sus pies son rápidos para derramar sangre.
Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 La destrucción y la miseria están en sus caminos.
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 El camino de la paz, no lo han conocido”.
And the way of peace have they not known:
18 “No hay temor de Dios ante sus ojos”.
There is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 Ahora bien, sabemos que todo lo que la ley dice, lo dice a los que están bajo la ley, para que toda boca se cierre y todo el mundo quede bajo el juicio de Dios.
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Porque por las obras de la ley, ninguna carne será justificada ante él; porque por la ley viene el conocimiento del pecado.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 Pero ahora, aparte de la ley, se ha revelado una justicia de Dios, testificada por la ley y los profetas;
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 la justicia de Dios por medio de la fe en Jesucristo, para todos y sobre todos los que creen. Porque no hay distinción,
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 pues todos pecaron y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios;
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 siendo justificados gratuitamente por su gracia, mediante la redención que es en Cristo Jesús,
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 a quien Dios envió como sacrificio expiatorio por medio de la fe en su sangre, para demostración de su justicia mediante la anulación de los pecados anteriores, en la tolerancia de Dios;
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 para demostrar su justicia en este tiempo, a fin de que él mismo sea justo y justificador del que tiene fe en Jesús.
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 ¿Dónde está entonces la jactancia? Está excluida. ¿Por qué tipo de ley? ¿De obras? No, sino por una ley de fe.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Sostenemos, pues, que el hombre es justificado por la fe sin las obras de la ley.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29 ¿O acaso Dios es sólo el Dios de los judíos? ¿No es también el Dios de los gentiles? Sí, también de los gentiles,
Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30 pues ciertamente hay un solo Dios que justifica por la fe a los circuncisos y por la fe a los incircuncisos.
Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 ¿Anulamos entonces la ley por la fe? ¡Que nunca sea así! No, nosotros establecemos la ley.
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
