Romanos 13
1 Que toda alma se someta a las autoridades superiores, porque no hay autoridad sino de Dios, y las que hay son ordenadas por Dios.
Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God,
2 Por lo tanto, el que resiste a la autoridad resiste la ordenanza de Dios; y los que resisten recibirán para sí el juicio.
so that he who is setting himself against the authority, against God's ordinance hath resisted; and those resisting, to themselves shall receive judgment.
3 Porque los gobernantes no son un terror para la buena obra, sino para la mala. ¿Deseas no tener miedo a la autoridad? Haced lo que es bueno, y tendréis la alabanza de la autoridad,
For those ruling are not a terror to the good works, but to the evil; and dost thou wish not to be afraid of the authority? that which is good be doing, and thou shalt have praise from it,
4 porque es un servidor de Dios para vosotros para el bien. Pero si hacéis lo que es malo, temed, porque no lleva la espada en vano, pues es un servidor de Dios, vengador para la ira del que hace el mal.
for of God it is a ministrant to thee for good; and if that which is evil thou mayest do, be fearing, for not in vain doth it bear the sword; for of God it is a ministrant, an avenger for wrath to him who is doing that which is evil.
5 Por tanto, es necesario que estéis sometidos, no sólo por la ira, sino también por la conciencia.
Wherefore it is necessary to be subject, not only because of the wrath, but also because of the conscience,
6 Por eso también pagas los impuestos, pues son servidores del servicio de Dios, haciendo continuamente esto mismo.
for because of this also pay ye tribute; for servants of God they are, on this very thing attending continually;
7 Por tanto, dad a cada uno lo que debéis: si debéis impuestos, pagad impuestos; si tributo, tributo; si respeto, respeto; si honor, honor.
render, therefore, to all [their] dues; to whom tribute, the tribute; to whom custom, the custom; to whom fear, the fear; to whom honour, the honour.
8 No debáis a nadie nada, sino amaros unos a otros; porque el que ama a su prójimo ha cumplido la ley.
To no one owe anything, except to love one another; for he who is loving the other — law he hath fulfilled,
9 Porque los mandamientos: “No cometerás adulterio”, “No asesinarás”, “No robarás”, “No codiciarás” y cualquier otro que haya, se resumen en esta frase: “Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”.
for, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false testimony, Thou shalt not covet;' and if there is any other command, in this word it is summed up, in this: 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;'
10 El amor no hace daño al prójimo. Por tanto, el amor es el cumplimiento de la ley.
the love to the neighbour doth work no ill; the love, therefore, [is] the fulness of law.
11 Haced esto, conociendo el tiempo, que ya es hora de que os despertéis del sueño, porque la salvación está ahora más cerca de nosotros que cuando creímos por primera vez.
And this, knowing the time, that for us, the hour already [is] to be aroused out of sleep, for now nearer [is] our salvation than when we did believe;
12 La noche está lejos, y el día está cerca. Despojémonos, pues, de las obras de las tinieblas y pongámonos la armadura de la luz.
the night did advance, and the day came nigh; let us lay aside, therefore, the works of the darkness, and let us put on the armour of the light;
13 Caminemos correctamente, como de día; no en juergas y borracheras, no en promiscuidades sexuales y actos lujuriosos, y no en contiendas y envidias.
as in day-time, let us walk becomingly; not in revellings and drunkennesses, not in chamberings and lasciviousnesses, not in strife and emulation;
14 Sino revestíos del Señor Jesucristo, y no proveáis para la carne, para sus concupiscencias.
but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take no forethought — for desires.
