Salmos 44

1 Por el jefe de los músicos. Por los hijos de Coré. Un salmo contemplativo. Hemos escuchado con nuestros oídos, Dios; nuestros padres nos han contado el trabajo que hicisteis en sus días, en los días de antaño.

For the end, a Psalm for instruction, for the sons of Core. O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, the work which you wrought in their days, in the days of old.

2 Has expulsado a las naciones con tu mano, pero tú los plantaste. Has afligido a los pueblos, pero los difundes en el extranjero.

Your hand utterly destroyed the heathen, and you did plant them: you did afflict the nations, and cast them out.

3 Porque no obtuvieron la tierra en posesión por su propia espada, ni su propio brazo los salvó; sino tu mano derecha, tu brazo y la luz de tu rostro, porque les fuiste favorable.

For they inherited not the land by their [own] sword, and their [own] arm did not deliver them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you were well pleased in them.

4 Dios, tú eres mi Rey. ¡Comando victorias para Jacob!

You are indeed my King and my God, who command deliverances for Jacob.

5 A través de ti, derrotaremos a nuestros adversarios. Por tu nombre, aplastaremos a los que se levantan contra nosotros.

In you will we push down our enemies, and in your name will we bring to nothing them that rise up against us.

6 Porque no confiaré en mi arco, ni mi espada me salvará.

For I will not trust in my bow, and my sword shall not save me.

7 Pero tú nos has salvado de nuestros adversarios, y han avergonzado a los que nos odian.

For you have saved us from them that afflicted us, and have put to shame them that hated us.

8 En Dios nos hemos jactado todo el día. Daremos gracias a tu nombre por siempre. (Selah)

In God will we make our boast all the day, and to your name will we give thanks for ever. (Pause)

9 Pero ahora nos has rechazado y nos has deshonrado, y no salgan con nuestros ejércitos.

But now you have cast off, and put us to shame; and you will not go forth with our hosts.

10 Nos haces retroceder ante el adversario. Los que nos odian se apropian del botín.

You have turned us back before our enemies; and they that hated us spoiled for themselves.

11 Nos has hecho como ovejas para comer, y nos han dispersado entre las naciones.

You made us as sheep for meat; and you scattered us amongst the nations.

12 Vendes a tu pueblo por nada, y no han ganado nada con su venta.

You have sold your people without price, and there was no profit by their exchange.

13 Nos conviertes en un reproche para nuestros vecinos, una burla y un escarnio a los que nos rodean.

You have made us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision them that are round about us.

14 Nos has convertido en un sinónimo entre las naciones, una sacudida de cabeza entre los pueblos.

You have made us a proverb amongst the Gentiles, a shaking of the head amongst the nations.

15 Todo el día mi deshonra está ante mí, y la vergüenza cubre mi cara,

All the day my shame is before me, and the confusion of my face has covered me,

16 ante la burla de quien reprocha y abusa verbalmente, por el enemigo y el vengador.

because of the voice of the slanderer and reviler; because of the enemy and avenger.

17 Todo esto se nos ha venido encima, pero no te hemos olvidado. No hemos sido falsos a su pacto.

All these things are come upon us: but we have not forgotten you, neither have we dealt unrighteously in your covenant.

18 Nuestro corazón no ha retrocedido, ni nuestros pasos se han desviado de tu camino,

And our heart has not gone back; but you have turned aside our paths from your way.

19 aunque nos hayas aplastado en la guarida de los chacales, y nos cubrió con la sombra de la muerte.

For you have laid us low in a place of affliction, and the shadow of death has covered us.

20 Si hemos olvidado el nombre de nuestro Dios, o extender nuestras manos a un dios extraño,

If we have forgotten the name of our God, and if we have spread out our hands to a strange god; shall not God search these things out?

21 ¿No buscará Dios esto? Porque él conoce los secretos del corazón.

for he knows the secrets of the heart.

22 Sí, por tu causa nos matan todo el día. Se nos considera como ovejas para el matadero.

For, for your sake we are killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for slaughter.

23 ¡Despierta! ¿Por qué duermes, Señor? ¡Levántate! No nos rechaces para siempre.

Awake, therefore sleep you, O Lord? arise, and do not cast [us] off for ever.

24 ¿Por qué ocultas tu rostro? ¿y olvidar nuestra aflicción y nuestra opresión?

Therefore turn you your face away, [and] forget our poverty and our affliction?

25 Porque nuestra alma se inclina hacia el polvo. Nuestro cuerpo se aferra a la tierra.

For our soul has been brought down to the dust; our belly has cleaved to the earth.

26 Levántatepara ayudarnos. Redímenos por tu amorosa bondad.

Arise, O Lord, help us, and redeem us for your name's sake.
