Salmos 140

1 Para el músico principal. Un salmo de David. Líbrame, Yahvé, de los hombres malos. Presérvame de los hombres violentos:

“To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Deliver me, O Lord, from an evil man; from a man of violence do thou keep me;

2 los que traman maldades en sus corazones. Se reúnen continuamente para la guerra.

Who think over evil [resolves] in their heart, [who] every day are gathered together for war.

3 Han afilado su lengua como una serpiente. El veneno de la víbora está bajo sus labios. (Selah)

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent: the poison of the adder is under their lips. (Selah)

4 Yahvé, guárdame de las manos de los malvados. Presérvame de los hombres violentos que se han empeñado en hacer tropezar mis pies.

Preserve me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, from the man of violence do thou keep me, who think of overthrowing my steps.

5 Los soberbios han escondido una trampa para mí, han extendido las cuerdas de una red por el camino. Me han puesto trampas. (Selah)

The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the side of [my] track; traps have they set for me. (Selah)

6 Dije a Yahvé: “Tú eres mi Dios”. Escucha el clamor de mis peticiones, Yahvé.

I have said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my supplications.

7 Yahvé, el Señor, la fuerza de mi salvación, has cubierto mi cabeza en el día de la batalla.

O thou Eternal Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head on the day of battle.

8 Yahvé, no concedas los deseos de los malvados. No permitas que sus planes malvados tengan éxito, o se enorgullecerán. (Selah)

Grant not, O Lord, the longings of the wicked; suffer not his wicked device to succeed: lest they exalt themselves. (Selah)

9 En cuanto a la cabeza de los que me rodean, que la maldad de sus propios labios los cubra.

[As for] the heads of those that encompass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

10 Que caigan sobre ellos carbones encendidos. Que sean arrojados al fuego, en fosas cenagosas, de las que nunca se levantan.

Let burning coals be cast upon them: let them be thrown into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

11 Un orador malvado no se establecerá en la tierra. El mal perseguirá al hombre violento para derrocarlo.

Let not the man of an [evil] tongue be established on the earth: may evil hunt down the violent man to his downfall.

12 Sé que Yahvé mantendrá la causa de los afligidos, y justicia para los necesitados.

I know that the Lord will procure right for the afflicted, [and] justice for the needy.

13 Seguramente los justos darán gracias a tu nombre. Los rectos morarán en tu presencia.

Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell before thy presence.
