Proverbios 6
1 Hijo mío, si te has convertido en garantía de tu prójimo, si has golpeado tus manos en prenda por un extraño,
My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbour, if thou hast struck thy hands for a stranger —
2 estás atrapado por las palabras de tu boca; estás atrapado con las palabras de tu boca.
Thou art snared by the words of thy mouth, thou art caught by the words of thy mouth —
3 Hazlo ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has llegado a la mano de tu vecino. Ve, humíllate. Presiona tu súplica con tu vecino.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbour; go, humble thyself, and urge thy neighbour.
4 No le des sueño a tus ojos, ni el sueño a sus párpados.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Libérate, como una gacela de la mano del cazador, como un pájaro de la trampa del cazador.
Deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Ve a la hormiga, perezoso. Considera sus formas, y sé sabio;
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise;
7 que no tienen jefe, supervisor o gobernante,
Which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 le proporciona el pan en el verano, y recoge su alimento en la cosecha.
Provideth her bread in the summer, and gatherest her food in the harvest.
9 ¿Cuánto tiempo vas a dormir, perezoso? ¿Cuándo te levantarás de tu sueño?
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Un poco de sueño, un poco de sopor, un pequeño pliegue de las manos para dormir —
'Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep' —
11 así que tu pobreza vendrá como un ladrón, y su escasez como hombre armado.
So shall thy poverty come as a runner, and thy want as an armed man.
12 Una persona sin valor, un hombre de iniquidad, es el que anda con la boca perversa,
A base person, a man of iniquity, is he that walketh with a froward mouth;
13 que guiña los ojos, que hace señales con los pies, que hace gestos con los dedos,
That winketh with his eyes, that scrapeth with his feet, that pointeth with his fingers;
14 en cuyo corazón hay perversidad, que urde el mal continuamente, que siempre siembra la discordia.
Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth evil continually; he soweth discord.
15 Por lo tanto, su calamidad vendrá de repente. Se romperá de repente, y eso sin remedio.
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; on a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy.
16 Hay seis cosas que Yahvé odia; sí, siete que son una abominación para él:
There are six things which the LORD hateth, yea, seven which are an abomination unto Him:
17 ojos arrogantes, una lengua mentirosa, manos que derraman sangre inocente,
Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18 un corazón que urde planes perversos, pies que son rápidos en correr a la travesura,
A heart that deviseth wicked thoughts, feet that are swift in running to evil;
19 un testigo falso que dice mentiras, y el que siembra la discordia entre hermanos.
A false witness that breatheth out lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20 Hijo mío, cumple el mandamiento de tu padre, y no abandones las enseñanzas de tu madre.
My son, keep the commandment of thy father, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
21 Átalas continuamente en tu corazón. Átalos alrededor de tu cuello.
Bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck.
22 Cuando camines, te guiará. Cuando duermas, te vigilará. Cuando te despiertes, hablará contigo.
When thou walkest, it shall lead thee, when thou liest down, it shall watch over thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 Porque el mandamiento es una lámpara, y la ley es ligera. Los reproches de instrucción son el camino de la vida,
For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;
24 para alejarte de la mujer inmoral, de los halagos de la lengua de la esposa díscola.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the smoothness of the alien tongue.
25 No codicies su belleza en tu corazón, ni dejar que te cautive con sus párpados.
Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; neither let her captivate thee with her eyelids.
26 Porque una prostituta te reduce a un trozo de pan. La adúltera caza tu preciosa vida.
For on account of a harlot a man is brought to a loaf of bread, but the adulteress hunteth for the precious life.
27 ¿Puede un hombre recoger fuego en su regazo, y sus ropas no sean quemadas?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 O se puede caminar sobre las brasas, y sus pies no se quemen?
Or can one walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 Así es el que se acerca a la mujer de su prójimo. Quien la toque no quedará impune.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not go unpunished.
30 Los hombres no desprecian al ladrón si roba para satisfacerse cuando tiene hambre,
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31 pero si se le encuentra, deberá restituir siete veces. Dará toda la riqueza de su casa.
But if he be found, he must restore sevenfold, he must give all the substance of his house.
32 El que comete adulterio con una mujer está vacío de entendimiento. Quien lo hace destruye su propia alma.
He that committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding; he doeth it that would destroy his own soul.
33 Recibirá heridas y deshonra. Su reproche no será borrado.
Wounds and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 Porque los celos despiertan la furia del marido. No perdonará en el día de la venganza.
For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35 No considerará ningún rescate, ni estará contento, aunque le des muchos regalos.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
