Proverbios 4
1 Escuchad, hijos, la instrucción de un padre. Presta atención y conoce la comprensión;
Hear, you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2 porque te doy un aprendizaje sólido. No abandones mi ley.
For I give you a good gift; forsake you not my law.
3 Porque yo era hijo de mi padre, tierna y única a los ojos de mi madre.
For I also was a son obedient to [my] father, and loved in the sight of [my] mother:
4 Me enseñó y me dijo: “Que tu corazón retenga mis palabras. Guarda mis mandamientos y vive.
who spoke and instructed me, [saying], Let our speech be fixed in your heart, keep [our] commandments, forget them not:
5 Obtenga sabiduría. Compréndelo. No lo olvides, y no te desvíes de las palabras de mi boca.
and do not neglect the speech of my mouth.
6 No la abandones, y ella te preservará. Ámala, y ella te mantendrá.
And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to you: love it, and it shall keep you.
7 La sabiduría es suprema. Consigue sabiduría. Sí, aunque te cueste todas tus posesiones, sé comprensivo.
8 Estimadla, y ella os exaltará. Ella te llevará al honor cuando la abraces.
Secure it, and it shall exalt you: honour it, that it may embrace you;
9 Ella dará a tu cabeza una guirnalda de gracia. Te entregará una corona de esplendor”.
that it may give to your head a crown of graces, and may cover you with a crown of delight.
10 Escucha, hijo mío, y recibe mis palabras. Los años de tu vida serán muchos.
Hear, [my] son, and receive my words; and the years of your life shall be increased, that the resources of your life may be many.
11 Te he enseñado el camino de la sabiduría. Te he guiado por caminos rectos.
For I teach you the ways of wisdom; and I cause you to go in right paths.
12 Cuando vayas, tus pasos no se verán obstaculizados. Cuando corras, no tropezarás.
For when you go, your steps shall not be straitened; and when you run, you shall not be distressed.
13 Agarra firmemente la instrucción. No la dejes ir. Quédate con ella, porque es tu vida.
Take hold of my instruction; let it not go, —but keep it for yourself for your life.
14 No entres en el camino de los malvados. No sigas el camino de los hombres malos.
Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors.
15 Evítalo y no pases de largo. Apártate de él y pasa de largo.
In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, go not there; but turn from them, and pass away.
16 Porque no duermen si no hacen el mal. Se les quita el sueño, a menos que hagan caer a alguien.
For they can’t sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not.
17 Porque comen el pan de la maldad y beber el vino de la violencia.
For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with wine of transgression.
18 Pero el camino de los justos es como la luz del amanecer que brilla más y más hasta el día perfecto.
But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go on and shine, until the day be fully come.
19 El camino de los malvados es como la oscuridad. No saben con qué tropiezan.
But the ways of the ungodly are dark; they know not how they stumble.
20 Hijo mío, atiende a mis palabras. Poned el oído en mis palabras.
[My] son, attend to my speech; and apply your ear to my words:
21 Que no se aparten de tus ojos. Manténgalos en el centro de su corazón.
that your fountains may not fail you; keep them in [your] heart.
22 Porque son la vida para los que las encuentran, y salud a todo su cuerpo.
For they are life to those that find them, and health to all [their] flesh.
23 Guarda tu corazón con toda diligencia, porque de ella brota el manantial de la vida.
Keep your heart with the utmost care; for out of these are the issues of life.
24 Aparta de ti la boca perversa. Poner los labios corruptos lejos de ti.
Remove from you a froward mouth, and put far away from you unjust lips.
25 Deja que tus ojos miren al frente. Fija tu mirada directamente delante de ti.
Let your eyes look right on, and let your eyelids assent [to] just [things].
26 Haz que el camino de tus pies sea llano. Que se establezcan todos sus caminos.
Make straight paths for your feet, and order your ways aright.
27 No te vuelvas a la derecha ni a la izquierda. Retira tu pie del mal.
Turn not aside to the right hand nor to the left, but turn away your foot from an evil way.
