< Proverbios 31 >
1 Las palabras del rey Lemuel: la revelación que le enseñó su madre:
The words of king Lamuel. The vision by which his mother instructed him:
2 “¡Oh, hijo mío! ¡Oh, hijo de mi vientre! ¡Oh, hijo de mis votos!
“What, O my beloved? What, O beloved of my womb? What, O beloved of my vows?
3 No des tu fuerza a las mujeres, ni tus caminos a lo que destruye a los reyes.
Do not give your substance to women, or your riches to overthrow kings.
4 No es para reyes, Lemuel, no es para los reyes beber vino, ni que los príncipes digan: “¿Dónde está la bebida fuerte?
Not to kings, O Lamuel, not to kings give wine. For there are no secrets where drunkenness reigns.
5 para que no beban y se olviden de la ley, y pervierten la justicia debida a quien está afligido.
And perhaps they may drink and forget judgments, and alter the case of the sons of the poor.
6 Da de beber fuerte al que está a punto de perecer, y el vino a los amargados de alma.
Give strong drink to the grieving, and wine to those who are bitter in soul.
7 Que beba y se olvide de su pobreza, y no recordar más su miseria.
Let them drink, and forget their needs, and remember their sorrow no more.
8 Abre la boca para el mudo, en la causa de todos los que quedan desolados.
Open your mouth for the mute and for all the cases of the sons who are passing through.
9 Abre tu boca, juzga con justicia, y servir de justicia a los pobres y necesitados”.
Open your mouth, declare what is just, and do justice to the indigent and the poor.
10 ¿Quién puede encontrar una mujer digna? Porque su valor está muy por encima de los rubíes.
Who shall find a strong woman? Far away, and from the furthest parts, is her price.
11 El corazón de su marido confía en ella. No le faltará ganancia.
The heart of her husband confides in her, and he will not be deprived of spoils.
12 Ella le hace el bien y no el mal, todos los días de su vida.
She will repay him with good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 Busca lana y lino, y trabaja con entusiasmo con sus manos.
She has sought wool and flax, and she has worked these by the counsel of her hands.
14 Es como los barcos mercantes. Ella trae su pan desde lejos.
She has become like a merchant’s ship, bringing her bread from far away.
15 También se levanta cuando todavía es de noche, da comida a su casa, y porciones para sus sirvientas.
And she has risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and provisions to her maids.
16 Considera un campo y lo compra. Con el fruto de sus manos, planta un viñedo.
She has considered a field and bought it. From the fruit of her own hands, she has planted a vineyard.
17 Ella arma su cintura con fuerza, y hace que sus brazos sean fuertes.
She has wrapped her waist with fortitude, and she has strengthened her arm.
18 Ella percibe que su mercancía es rentable. Su lámpara no se apaga por la noche.
She has tasted and seen that her tasks are good; her lamp shall not be extinguished at night.
19 Pone las manos en la rueca, y sus manos sostienen el huso.
She has put her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
20 Ella abre sus brazos a los pobres; sí, extiende sus manos a los necesitados.
She has opened her hand to the needy, and she has extended her hands to the poor.
21 No teme a la nieve por su casa, porque toda su casa está vestida de escarlata.
She shall not fear, in the cold of snow, for her household. For all those of her household have been clothed two-fold.
22 Hace para sí misma alfombras de tapiz. Su ropa es de lino fino y de color púrpura.
She has made embroidered clothing for herself. Fine linen and purple is her garment.
23 Su marido es respetado en las puertas, cuando se siente entre los ancianos de la tierra.
Her husband is noble at the gates, when he sits among the senators of the land.
24 Ella hace prendas de lino y las vende, y entrega las fajas al comerciante.
She has made finely woven cloth and sold it, and she has delivered a waistband to the Canaanite.
25 La fuerza y la dignidad son su vestimenta. Se ríe de la hora que viene.
Strength and elegance are her clothing, and she will laugh in the final days.
26 Ella abre su boca con sabiduría. La instrucción amable está en su lengua.
She has opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
27 Ella mira bien los caminos de su casa, y no come el pan de la ociosidad.
She has considered the paths of her household, and she has not eaten her bread in idleness.
28 Sus hijos se levantan y la llaman bendita. Su marido también la elogia:
Her sons rose up and predicted great happiness; her husband rose up and praised her.
29 “Muchas mujeres hacen cosas nobles, pero tú los superas a todos”.
Many daughters have gathered together riches; you have surpassed them all.
30 El encanto es engañoso, y la belleza es vana; pero la mujer que teme a Yahvé, será alabada.
Charm is false, and beauty is vain. The woman who fears the Lord, the same shall be praised.
31 ¡Dale del fruto de sus manos! ¡Que sus obras la alaben en las puertas!
Give to her from the fruit of her own hands. And let her works praise her at the gates.
