Proverbios 16
1 Los planes del corazón pertenecen al hombre, pero la respuesta de la lengua es de Yahvé.
To man belongeth the preparation of the heart; But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios ante sus propios ojos, pero Yahvé sopesa los motivos.
All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes; But the LORD weigheth the spirit.
3 Encomienda tus obras a Yahvé, y tus planes tendrán éxito.
Commit thy doings to the LORD, And thy purposes shall be established.
4 Yahvé ha hecho todo para su propio fin. sí, incluso los malvados para el día del mal.
The LORD hath ordained every thing for its end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Todo el que es orgulloso de corazón es una abominación para Yahvé; ciertamente no quedarán impunes.
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; From generation to generation he shall not be unpunished.
6 Por la misericordia y la verdad se expía la iniquidad. Por el temor a Yahvé los hombres se apartan del mal.
Through kindness and truth, iniquity is expiated; And, through the fear of the LORD, men depart from evil.
7 Cuando los caminos del hombre agradan a Yahvé, hace que hasta sus enemigos estén en paz con él.
When a man's ways please the LORD, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Mejor es un poco con la justicia, que los grandes ingresos con la injusticia.
Better is a little with righteousness, Than great revenues without right.
9 El corazón del hombre planea su curso, pero Yahvé dirige sus pasos.
The heart of man deviseth his way, But the LORD establisheth his steps.
10 Los juicios inspirados están en los labios del rey. No traicionará su boca.
A divine sentence is upon the lips of a king; His mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
11 Las balanzas y los platillos honestos son de Yahvé; todos los pesos de la bolsa son obra suya.
A just balance and scales are the appointment of the LORD; All the weights of the bag are his work.
12 Es una abominación que los reyes hagan el mal, porque el trono se establece por la justicia.
The doing of wickedness is an abomination to kings; For by righteousness is the throne established.
13 Los labios justos son la delicia de los reyes. Valoran a quien dice la verdad.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings, And they love him who speaketh right things.
14 La ira del rey es un mensajero de la muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo apaciguará.
The wrath of a king is messengers of death; But a wise man will pacify it.
15 En la luz del rostro del rey está la vida. Su favor es como una nube de la lluvia de primavera.
In the light of the king's countenance is life, And his favor is a like a cloud bringing the latter rain.
16 ¡Cuánto mejor es conseguir sabiduría que oro! Sí, conseguir la comprensión es ser elegido más que la plata.
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.
17 El camino de los rectos es apartarse del mal. El que guarda su camino preserva su alma.
It is the highway of the upright to depart from evil; He that taketh heed to his way preserveth his life.
18 La soberbia precede a la destrucción, y un espíritu arrogante antes de una caída.
Pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Es mejor tener un espíritu humilde con los pobres, que repartir el botín con los orgullosos.
Better is it to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to share the spoil with the proud.
20 El que presta atención a la Palabra encuentra la prosperidad. Quien confía en Yahvé es bendecido.
He who giveth heed to the word shall find good; And he who trusteth in the LORD, happy is he!
21 Los sabios de corazón serán llamados prudentes. El placer de los labios favorece la instrucción.
The wise in heart shall be called intelligent, And sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
22 La comprensión es una fuente de vida para quien la tiene, pero el castigo de los tontos es su locura.
Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that hath it. And the chastisement of fools is their folly.
23 El corazón del sabio instruye a su boca, y añade el aprendizaje a sus labios.
The heart of the wise man instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips.
24 Las palabras agradables son un panal, dulce para el alma, y salud para los huesos.
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweet to the taste, and health to the bones.
25 Hay un camino que le parece correcto al hombre, pero al final lleva a la muerte.
There is a way that seemeth right to a man, But the end thereof is the way to death.
26 El apetito del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca le urge.
The hunger of the laborer laboreth for him; For his mouth urgeth him on.
27 Un hombre sin valor trama una travesura. Su discurso es como un fuego abrasador.
A worthless man diggeth mischief, And on his lips there is, as it were, a burning fire.
28 El hombre perverso suscita conflictos. Un susurrador separa a los amigos cercanos.
A deceitful man stirreth up strife, And a whisperer separateth friends.
29 El hombre violento seduce a su prójimo, y lo lleva por un camino que no es bueno.
A man of violence enticeth his neighbor, And leadeth him into a way which is not good.
30 El que guiña los ojos para tramar perversidades, el que comprime sus labios, está empeñado en el mal.
He who shutteth his eyes to devise fraud, He who compresseth his lips, hath accomplished mischief!
31 Las canas son una corona de gloria. Se consigue con una vida de rectitud.
The hoary head is a crown of glory, If it be found in the way of righteousness.
32 El que es lento para la ira es mejor que el poderoso; el que gobierna su espíritu, que el que toma una ciudad.
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he who ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.
33 La suerte está echada, pero todas sus decisiones provienen de Yahvé.
The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole decision thereof is from the LORD.
