Números 31
1 Yahvé habló a Moisés, diciendo:
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
2 “Véngate de los hijos de Israel contra los madianitas. Después te reunirás con tu pueblo”.
“Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites—afterward you are gathered to your people.”
3 Moisés habló al pueblo diciendo: “Arma a los hombres de entre ustedes para la guerra, para que vayan contra Madián, para ejecutar la venganza de Yahvé contra Madián.
And Moses speaks to the people, saying, “Arm men from [among] you for the war, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of YHWH on Midian;
4 Enviaréis mil de cada tribu, de todas las tribus de Israel, a la guerra.”
one thousand for a tribe—you send one thousand for a tribe, of all the tribes of Israel, to the war.”
5 Así que fueron entregados, de los miles de Israel, mil de cada tribu, doce mil armados para la guerra.
And there are given out of the thousands of Israel one thousand for a tribe—twelve thousand armed ones [for] war;
6 Moisés los envió, mil de cada tribu, a la guerra con Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a la guerra, con los utensilios santos del santuario y las trompetas de alarma en su mano.
and Moses sends them, one thousand for a tribe, to the war; [he sent] them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest to the war, with the holy vessels and the trumpets of shouting in his hand.
7 Lucharon contra Madián, como Yahvé le ordenó a Moisés. Mataron a todos los varones.
And they war against Midian, as YHWH has commanded Moses, and slay every male;
8 Mataron a los reyes de Madián con el resto de sus muertos: Evi, Requem, Zur, Hur y Reba, los cinco reyes de Madián. También mataron a espada a Balaam, hijo de Beor.
and they have slain the kings of Midian besides their pierced ones: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba—five kings of Midian; and they have slain Balaam son of Beor with the sword.
9 Los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián con sus hijos, y tomaron como botín todo su ganado, todos sus rebaños y todos sus bienes.
And the sons of Israel take the women of Midian and their infants captive; and they have plundered all their livestock, and all their substance, and all their wealth;
10 Quemaron todas sus ciudades en los lugares donde vivían y todos sus campamentos.
and they have burned all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, with fire.
11 Tomaron todos los cautivos y todo el botín, tanto de hombres como de animales.
And they take all the spoil and all the prey, among man and among beast;
12 Llevaron a los cautivos, con la presa y el botín, a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a la congregación de los hijos de Israel, al campamento de los llanos de Moab, que están junto al Jordán, en Jericó.
and they bring in the captives, and the prey, and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the camp, to the plains of Moab, which [are] by the Jordan, [near] Jericho.
13 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, con todos los jefes de la congregación, salieron a recibirlos fuera del campamento.
And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, go out to meet them, to the outside of the camp,
14 Moisés se enojó con los oficiales del ejército, los capitanes de mil y los de cien, que venían del servicio de guerra.
and Moses is angry against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the warfare of battle.
15 Moisés les dijo: “¿Habéis salvado a todas las mujeres con vida?
And Moses says to them, “Have you kept every female alive?
16 He aquí que éstas hicieron que los hijos de Israel, por consejo de Balaam, cometieran transgresión contra Yahvé en el asunto de Peor, y así fue la plaga en la congregación de Yahvé.
Behold, they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against YHWH in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the congregation of YHWH.
17 Maten, pues, a todo varón entre los pequeños, y maten a toda mujer que haya conocido al hombre acostándose con él.
And now, slay every male among the infants, indeed, slay every woman knowing a man by the lying of a male;
18 Pero todas las muchachas que no hayan conocido al hombre acostándose con él, manténganse vivas.
and all the infants among the women who have not known the lying of a male you have kept alive for yourselves.
19 “Acampad fuera del campamento durante siete días. El que haya matado a alguna persona, y el que haya tocado a algún muerto, purificaos al tercer día y al séptimo, vosotros y vuestros cautivos.
And you, encamp at the outside of the camp [for] seven days; any who has slain a person, and any who has come against a pierced one, cleanse yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day—you and your captives;
20 Purificaréis todos los vestidos, todo lo que sea de piel, todo lo que sea de pelo de cabra y todo lo que sea de madera.”
and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats’ [hair], and every wooden vessel, you yourselves cleanse.”
21 El sacerdote Eleazar dijo a los hombres de guerra que iban a la batalla: “Este es el estatuto de la ley que Yahvé ha ordenado a Moisés.
And Eleazar the priest says to the men of war who go to battle, “This [is] the statute of the law which YHWH has commanded Moses:
22 Sin embargo, el oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,
only the gold, and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23 todo lo que pueda resistir el fuego, lo haréis pasar por el fuego, y quedará limpio; no obstante, será purificado con el agua para la impureza. Todo lo que no resista el fuego lo harás pasar por el agua.
everything which may go into fire, you cause to pass over through fire, and it has been clean; it is surely cleansed with the water of separation; and all that may not go into fire, you cause to pass over through water;
24 El séptimo día lavarás tus ropas, y quedarás limpio. Después entrarás en el campamento”.
and you have washed your garments on the seventh day and have been clean, and afterward you come into the camp.”
25 Yahvé habló a Moisés, diciendo:
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
26 “Cuenta el botín que fue tomado, tanto de personas como de animales, tú, y el sacerdote Eleazar, y los jefes de familia de la congregación;
“Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the congregation;
27 y divide el botín en dos partes: entre los hombres hábiles en la guerra, que salieron a la batalla, y toda la congregación.
and you have halved the prey between those handling the battle, who go out to the war, and all the congregation;
28 Levanten un tributo a Yahvé de los hombres de guerra que salieron a la batalla: un alma de cada quinientos; de las personas, del ganado, de los asnos y de los rebaños.
and you have raised a tribute to YHWH from the men of battle, who go out to the war, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the donkeys, and of the flock;
29 Tómalo de la mitad de ellos y dáselo al sacerdote Eleazar, para la ofrenda mecida de Yahvé.
you take from their half and have given [it] to Eleazar the priest [as] a raised-offering of YHWH.
30 De la mitad de los hijos de Israel, tomarás un alma de cada cincuenta, de las personas, del ganado, de los asnos y de los rebaños, de todo el ganado, y se los darás a los levitas, que cumplen con el deber del tabernáculo de Yahvé.”
And from the sons of Israel’s half you take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the donkeys, and of the flock, of all the livestock, and you have given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the Dwelling Place of YHWH.”
31 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron lo que Yahvé les ordenó.
And Moses does—Eleazar the priest also—as YHWH has commanded Moses.
32 El botín, además del botín que tomaron los hombres de guerra, fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco mil ovejas,
And the prey, the remainder of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand of the flock;
33 setenta y dos mil cabezas de ganado,
and seventy-two thousand of the herd;
34 sesenta y un mil asnos,
and sixty-one thousand donkeys;
35 y treinta y dos mil personas en total, de las mujeres que no habían conocido al hombre acostándose con él.
and of mankind—of the women who have not known the lying of a male—all the persons [are] thirty-two thousand.
36 La mitad, que era la porción de los que salían a la guerra, era en número de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas;
And the half, the portion of those who go out into the war, is [in] number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred of the flock.
37 y el tributo de las ovejas era de seiscientas setenta y cinco.
And the tribute to YHWH of the sheep is six hundred seventy-five;
38 El ganado vacuno era de treinta y seis mil, de los cuales el tributo de Yahvé era de setenta y dos.
and the herd [is] thirty-six thousand, and their tribute to YHWH [is] seventy-two;
39 Los asnos eran treinta mil quinientos, de los cuales el tributo del Señor era sesenta y uno.
and the donkeys [are] thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to YHWH [is] sixty-one;
40 Las personas eran dieciséis mil, de las cuales el tributo de Yahvé era de treinta y dos personas.
and of mankind [are] sixteen thousand, and their tribute to YHWH [is] thirty-two persons.
41 Moisés entregó el tributo, que era la ofrenda mecida de Yahvé, al sacerdote Eleazar, como Yahvé se lo había ordenado a Moisés.
And Moses gives the tribute—YHWH’s raised-offering—to Eleazar the priest, as YHWH has commanded Moses.
42 De la mitad de los hijos de Israel, que Moisés repartió entre los hombres que combatieron
And of the sons of Israel’s half, which Moses halved from the men who war—
43 (la mitad de la congregación era de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas,
and the congregation’s half is three hundred thousand and thirty thousand [and] seven thousand and five hundred of the flock;
44 treinta y seis mil cabezas de ganado,
and thirty-six thousand of the herd;
45 treinta mil quinientos asnos
and thirty thousand and five hundred donkeys;
46 y dieciséis mil personas),
and sixteen thousand of mankind—
47 de la mitad de los hijos de Israel, Moisés tomó un animal de cada cincuenta, tanto de hombres como de animales, y se los dio a los levitas, que cumplían con el deber del tabernáculo de Yahvé, como Yahvé le ordenó a Moisés.
Moses takes from the sons of Israel’s half one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and gives them to the Levites keeping the charge of the Dwelling Place of YHWH, as YHWH has commanded Moses.
48 Se acercaron a Moisés los oficiales que estaban al frente de los miles del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los de cientos.
And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host have (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near to Moses,
49 Le dijeron a Moisés: “Tus siervos han tomado la suma de los hombres de guerra que están bajo nuestro mando, y no falta ni uno de nosotros.
and they say to Moses, “Your servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who [are] with us, and not a man of us has been missed;
50 Hemos traído la ofrenda de Yahvé, lo que cada uno encontró: adornos de oro, brazaletes, pulseras, anillos de sello, pendientes y collares, para expiar nuestras almas ante Yahvé.”
and we bring YHWH’s offering near, each of that which he has found of vessels of gold—chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, [ear]-ring, and bead—to make atonement for ourselves before YHWH.”
51 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar tomaron su oro, todas las joyas trabajadas.
And Moses receives—Eleazar the priest also—the gold from them, every vessel of workmanship;
52 Todo el oro de la ofrenda de ola que ofrecieron a Yahvé, de los capitanes de millares y de los capitanes de centenas, fue de dieciséis mil setecientos cincuenta siclos.
and all the gold of the raised-offering which they have lifted up to YHWH is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands and from heads of the hundreds;
53 Los hombres de guerra habían tomado un botín, cada uno para sí mismo.
(the men of the host have each taken spoil for himself);
54 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar tomaron el oro de los capitanes de millares y de centenas, y lo llevaron a la Tienda del Encuentro como memorial para los hijos de Israel ante Yahvé.
and Moses takes—Eleazar the priest also—the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it into the Tent of Meeting [as] a memorial for the sons of Israel before YHWH.
