San Mateo 27
1 Al amanecer, todos los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo se pusieron de acuerdo contra Jesús para matarlo.
When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people conspired against Jesus to put Him to death.
2 Lo ataron, lo llevaron y lo entregaron a Poncio Pilato, el gobernador.
They bound Him, led Him away, and handed Him over to Pilate the governor.
3 Entonces Judas, el que lo traicionó, al ver que Jesús era condenado, sintió remordimiento y devolvió las treinta monedas de plata a los sumos sacerdotes y a los ancianos,
When Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was filled with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.
4 diciendo: “He pecado al entregar sangre inocente.” Pero ellos dijeron: “¿Qué es eso para nosotros? Vosotros os ocupáis de ello”.
“I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,” he said. “What is that to us?” they replied. “You bear the responsibility.”
5 Arrojó las piezas de plata en el santuario y se marchó. Luego se fue y se ahorcó.
So Judas threw the silver into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.
6 Los jefes de los sacerdotes tomaron las piezas de plata y dijeron: “No es lícito ponerlas en el tesoro, pues es el precio de la sangre.”
The chief priests picked up the pieces of silver and said, “It is unlawful to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.”
7 Se asesoraron y compraron con ellas el campo del alfarero para enterrar a los extranjeros.
After conferring together, they used the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners.
8 Por eso ese campo ha sido llamado “El campo de la sangre” hasta el día de hoy.
That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
9 Entonces se cumplió lo que se había dicho por medio del profeta Jeremías, que decía “Tomaron las treinta piezas de plata, el precio de aquel sobre el que se había fijado un precio, al que algunos de los hijos de Israel le dieron precio,
Then what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on Him by the people of Israel,
10 y los dieron para el campo del alfarero, como el Señor me ordenó”.
and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord had commanded me.”
11 Jesús se presentó ante el gobernador y éste le preguntó: “¿Eres tú el rey de los judíos?” Jesús le dijo: “Tú lo dices”.
Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, who questioned Him: “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
12 Cuando fue acusado por los sumos sacerdotes y los ancianos, no respondió nada.
And when He was accused by the chief priests and elders, He gave no answer.
13 Entonces Pilato le dijo: “¿No oyes cuántas cosas declaran contra ti?”.
Then Pilate asked Him, “Do You not hear how many charges they are bringing against You?”
14 No le respondió, ni siquiera una palabra, de modo que el gobernador se maravilló mucho.
But Jesus gave no answer, not even to a single charge, much to the governor’s amazement.
15 En la fiesta, el gobernador acostumbraba a liberar a la multitud un prisionero que ellos deseaban.
Now it was the governor’s custom at the feast to release to the crowd a prisoner of their choosing.
16 Tenían entonces un preso notable llamado Barrabás.
At that time they were holding a notorious prisoner named Barabbas.
17 Así pues, cuando se reunieron, Pilato les dijo: “¿A quién queréis que os suelte? ¿A Barrabás, o a Jesús, que se llama Cristo?”
So when the crowd had assembled, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”
18 Porque sabía que por envidia le habían entregado.
For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.
19 Mientras estaba sentado en el tribunal, su mujer le mandó decir: “No tengas nada que ver con ese justo, porque hoy he sufrido muchas cosas en sueños por su culpa.”
While Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: “Have nothing to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered terribly in a dream today because of Him.”
20 Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos persuadieron a las multitudes para que pidieran a Barrabás y destruyeran a Jesús.
But the chief priests and elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus put to death.
21 Pero el gobernador les respondió: “¿A cuál de los dos queréis que os suelte?” Dijeron: “¡Barabbas!”
“Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they replied.
22 Pilato les dijo: “¿Qué haré, pues, a Jesús, que se llama Cristo?” Todos le decían: “¡Que lo crucifiquen!”
“What then should I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify Him!”
23 Pero el gobernador dijo: “¿Por qué? ¿Qué mal ha hecho?” Pero ellos gritaban mucho, diciendo: “¡Que lo crucifiquen!”.
“Why?” asked Pilate. “What evil has He done?” But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify Him!”
24 Al ver Pilato que no se ganaba nada, sino que se iniciaba un alboroto, tomó agua y se lavó las manos ante la multitud, diciendo: “Yo soy inocente de la sangre de este justo. Vosotros os encargáis de ello”.
When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but that instead a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “You bear the responsibility.”
25 Todo el pueblo respondió: “¡Que su sangre sea sobre nosotros y sobre nuestros hijos!”
All the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
26 Entonces les soltó a Barrabás, pero a Jesús lo azotó y lo entregó para que lo crucificaran.
So Pilate released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified.
27 Entonces los soldados del gobernador llevaron a Jesús al pretorio y reunieron a toda la guarnición contra él.
Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company around Him.
28 Lo desnudaron y le pusieron un manto escarlata.
They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
29 Trenzaron una corona de espinas y se la pusieron en la cabeza, y una caña en la mano derecha; se arrodillaron ante él y se burlaron, diciendo: “¡Salve, Rey de los judíos!”
And they twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt down before Him to mock Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
30 Le escupían, tomaban la caña y le golpeaban en la cabeza.
Then they spit on Him and took the staff and struck Him on the head repeatedly.
31 Después de burlarse de él, le quitaron el manto, le pusieron su ropa y lo llevaron a crucificar.
After they had mocked Him, they removed the robe and put His own clothes back on Him. Then they led Him away to crucify Him.
32 Al salir, encontraron a un hombre de Cirene, de nombre Simón, y le obligaron a ir con ellos para que llevara su cruz.
Along the way they found a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross of Jesus.
33 Cuando llegaron a un lugar llamado “Gólgota”, es decir, “El lugar de la calavera”,
And when they came to a place called Golgotha, which means The Place of the Skull,
34 le dieron a beber vino agrio mezclado con hiel. Cuando lo probó, no quiso beber.
they offered Him wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, He refused to drink it.
35 Cuando lo crucificaron, se repartieron su ropa echando suertes,
When they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments by casting lots.
36 y se sentaron a velarlo allí.
And sitting down, they kept watch over Him there.
37 Colocaron sobre su cabeza la acusación escrita: “ESTE ES JESÚS, EL REY DE LOS JUDÍOS”.
Above His head they posted the written charge against Him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 Entonces había dos ladrones crucificados con él, uno a su derecha y otro a la izquierda.
Two robbers were crucified with Him, one on His right hand and the other on His left.
39 Los que pasaban le blasfemaban, moviendo la cabeza
And those who passed by heaped abuse on Him, shaking their heads
40 y diciendo: “Tú, que destruyes el templo y lo construyes en tres días, sálvate a ti mismo. Si eres el Hijo de Dios, baja de la cruz”.
and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”
41 Asimismo, los jefes de los sacerdotes, burlándose con los escribas, los fariseos y los ancianos, decían:
In the same way, the chief priests, scribes, and elders mocked Him, saying,
42 “Ha salvado a otros, pero no puede salvarse a sí mismo. Si es el Rey de Israel, que baje ahora de la cruz, y creeremos en él.
“He saved others, but He cannot save Himself. He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him.
43 Él confía en Dios. Que Dios lo libere ahora, si lo quiere; porque ha dicho: “Yo soy el Hijo de Dios””.
He trusts in God. Let God deliver Him now if He wants Him. For He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
44 También los ladrones que estaban crucificados con él le lanzaron el mismo reproche.
In the same way, even the robbers who were crucified with Him berated Him.
45 Desde la hora sexta hubo oscuridad sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora novena.
From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.
46 Hacia la hora novena, Jesús gritó con gran voz, diciendo: “Elí, Elí, ¿lama sabactani?” Es decir, “Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado?”
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
47 Algunos de los que estaban allí, al oírlo, dijeron: “Este hombre llama a Elías”.
When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He is calling Elijah.”
48 Inmediatamente, uno de ellos corrió y tomó una esponja, la llenó de vinagre, la puso en una caña y le dio de beber.
One of them quickly ran and brought a sponge. He filled it with sour wine, put it on a reed, and held it up for Jesus to drink.
49 Los demás dijeron: “Déjenlo. Vamos a ver si Elías viene a salvarlo”.
But the others said, “Leave Him alone. Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him.”
50 Jesús volvió a gritar con fuerza y entregó su espíritu.
When Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He yielded up His spirit.
51 He aquí que el velo del templo se rasgó en dos desde arriba hasta abajo. La tierra tembló y las rocas se partieron.
At that moment the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.
52 Se abrieron los sepulcros y resucitaron muchos cuerpos de los santos que habían dormido;
The tombs broke open, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised.
53 y saliendo de los sepulcros después de su resurrección, entraron en la ciudad santa y se aparecieron a muchos.
After Jesus’ resurrection, when they had come out of the tombs, they entered the holy city and appeared to many people.
54 El centurión y los que estaban con él observando a Jesús, al ver el terremoto y las cosas que se hacían, se espantaron, diciendo: “¡Verdaderamente éste era el Hijo de Dios!”
When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified and said, “Truly this was the Son of God.”
55 Estaban allí mirando desde lejos muchas mujeres que habían seguido a Jesús desde Galilea, sirviéndole.
And many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to minister to Him.
56 Entre ellas estaban María Magdalena, María la madre de Santiago y de José, y la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo.
Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
57 Cuando llegó la noche, vino un hombre rico de Arimatea llamado José, que también era discípulo de Jesús.
When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph, who himself was a disciple of Jesus.
58 Este hombre fue a Pilato y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. Entonces Pilato ordenó que se entregara el cuerpo.
He went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.
59 José tomó el cuerpo, lo envolvió en una tela de lino limpia
So Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 y lo puso en su propio sepulcro nuevo, que había excavado en la roca. Luego hizo rodar una gran piedra contra la puerta del sepulcro y se fue.
and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut into the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance to the tomb and went away.
61 María Magdalena estaba allí, y la otra María, sentadas frente al sepulcro.
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
62 Al día siguiente, que era el día siguiente al de la preparación, se reunieron los jefes de los sacerdotes y los fariseos ante Pilato,
The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and Pharisees assembled before Pilate.
63 diciendo: “Señor, nos acordamos de lo que dijo aquel engañador cuando aún vivía: ‘Después de tres días resucitaré’.
“Sir,” they said, “we remember that while He was alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
64 Manda, pues, que se asegure el sepulcro hasta el tercer día, no sea que vengan sus discípulos de noche y lo roben, y digan al pueblo: ‘Ha resucitado de entre los muertos’; y el último engaño será peor que el primero.”
So give the order that the tomb be secured until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples may come and steal Him away and tell the people He has risen from the dead. And this last deception would be worse than the first.”
65 Pilato les dijo: “Tenéis una guardia. Vayan y asegúrenlo todo lo que puedan”.
“You have a guard,” Pilate said. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.”
66 Así que fueron con la guardia y aseguraron el sepulcro, sellando la piedra.
So they went and secured the tomb by sealing the stone and posting the guard.
