San Mateo 26
1 Cuando Jesús terminó todas estas palabras, dijo a sus discípulos:
Now it happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, that He said to His disciples,
2 “Sabéis que dentro de dos días viene la Pascua, y el Hijo del Hombre será entregado para ser crucificado.”
“You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of the Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Entonces los jefes de los sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos del pueblo se reunieron en el patio del sumo sacerdote, que se llamaba Caifás.
Then the chief priests, the scribes and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, the one called Caiaphas,
4 Se pusieron de acuerdo para prender a Jesús con engaño y matarlo.
and they plotted to seize Jesus by trickery and kill Him.
5 Pero dijeron: “No durante la fiesta, para que no se produzca un motín en el pueblo”.
But they said, “Not during the feast, in order not to have an uproar among the people.”
6 Estando Jesús en Betania, en casa de Simón el leproso,
Now when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,
7 se le acercó una mujer con un frasco de alabastro de ungüento muy caro, y se lo derramó sobre la cabeza mientras estaba sentado a la mesa.
a woman approached Him, having an alabaster flask of very expensive perfume, and she began to pour it on His head as He reclined at the table.
8 Al ver esto, sus discípulos se indignaron diciendo: “¿Por qué este derroche?
But upon seeing it His disciples were indignant saying: “Why this waste?
9 Porque este ungüento podría haberse vendido por mucho y haberse dado a los pobres”.
For this perfume could have been sold for a good deal and given to the poor.”
10 Sin embargo, sabiendo esto, Jesús les dijo: “¿Por qué molestáis a la mujer? Ella ha hecho una buena obra para mí.
But being aware Jesus said to them: “Why are you bothering the woman? She has done something beautiful to me.
11 Porque siempre tenéis a los pobres con vosotros, pero a mí no me tenéis siempre.
You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
12 Porque al derramar este ungüento sobre mi cuerpo, lo hizo para prepararme para la sepultura.
In putting this perfume on my body she did it with a view to my burial.
13 Os aseguro que dondequiera que se predique esta Buena Noticia en todo el mundo, también se hablará de lo que ha hecho esta mujer como un recuerdo de ella.”
Assuredly I say to you, wherever this gospel may be proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman did will also be told in her memory.”
14 Entonces uno de los doce, que se llamaba Judas Iscariote, fue a los jefes de los sacerdotes
Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 y les dijo: “¿Cuánto estáis dispuestos a darme si os lo entrego?” Y le pesaron treinta monedas de plata.
and said, “What are you willing to give me so that I deliver Him to you?” So they counted out to him thirty silver coins.
16 Desde entonces buscó la oportunidad de traicionarlo.
From then on he kept looking for an opportunity to betray Him.
17 El primer día de los panes sin levadura, los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y le dijeron: “¿Dónde quieres que te preparemos para comer la Pascua?”
Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus saying to Him, “Where do you want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
18 Dijo: “Ve a la ciudad a cierta persona y dile: “El Maestro dice: “Se acerca mi hora. Celebraré la Pascua en tu casa con mis discípulos””.
So He said: “Go into the city to ‘you know who’ and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near, I will do the Passover with my disciples at your place.”’”
19 Los discípulos hicieron lo que Jesús les mandó y prepararon la Pascua.
And the disciples did as Jesus directed them and prepared the Passover.
20 Cuando llegó la noche, estaba sentado a la mesa con los doce discípulos.
When it was evening He was reclining at the table with the twelve.
21 Mientras comían, dijo: “Os aseguro que uno de vosotros me va a traicionar”.
And as they were eating He said, “Assuredly I say to you that one of you will betray me.”
22 Estaban muy apenados y cada uno comenzó a preguntarle: “No soy yo, ¿verdad, Señor?”.
This really upset them and they each began to say to Him, “It isn't me, is it, Lord?”
23 Él respondió: “El que mojó su mano conmigo en el plato me entregará.
In answer He said: “It is the one who dipped his hand in the bowl with me, he will betray me.
24 El Hijo del Hombre va como está escrito de él, pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por el que el Hijo del Hombre es entregado! Más le valdría a ese hombre no haber nacido”.
The Son of the Man is really going just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of the Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man not to have been born.”
25 Judas, el que lo traicionó, respondió: “No soy yo, ¿verdad, rabino?” Le dijo: “Tú lo has dicho”.
Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “It isn't me, is it, Rabbi?” He says to him, “You said it!”
26 Mientras comían, Jesús tomó el pan, dio gracias por él y lo partió. Se lo dio a los discípulos y les dijo: “Tomad, comed; esto es mi cuerpo”.
Now as they were eating, after taking the bread and blessing it, Jesus broke it, gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
27 Tomó la copa, dio gracias y se la dio a ellos, diciendo: “Bebed todos de ella,
And taking the cup and giving thanks He gave it to them saying: “Drink of it, all of you;
28 porque ésta es mi sangre de la nueva alianza, que se derrama por muchos para la remisión de los pecados.
for this is my blood, that of the new covenant, that which is being shed on behalf of many for forgiveness of sins.
29 Pero os digo que desde ahora no beberé de este fruto de la vid, hasta aquel día en que lo beba de nuevo con vosotros en el Reino de mi Padre.”
Furthermore, I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”
30 Cuando cantaron un himno, salieron al Monte de los Olivos.
And after hymn-singing they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Entonces Jesús les dijo: “Esta noche todos vosotros tropezaréis por mi causa, porque está escrito: “Heriré al pastor, y las ovejas del rebaño se dispersarán.
Then Jesus says to them: “All of you will be caused to stumble because of me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 Pero cuando haya resucitado, iré delante de vosotros a Galilea”.
But after I am raised I will go before you to Galilee.”
33 Pero Pedro le contestó: “Aunque todos tropiecen por tu culpa, yo no tropezaré jamás”.
Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if everyone else is caused to stumble because of you, I will never be caused to stumble.”
34 Jesús le dijo: “Te aseguro que esta noche, antes de que cante el gallo, me negarás tres veces”.
Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I say to you that this night, before any rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
35 Pedro le dijo: “Aunque tenga que morir contigo, no te negaré”. Todos los discípulos también dijeron lo mismo.
Peter says to Him, “Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the other disciples said the same.
36 Entonces Jesús vino con ellos a un lugar llamado Getsemaní, y dijo a sus discípulos: “Sentaos aquí, mientras voy allí a orar.”
Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He says to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
37 Tomó consigo a Pedro y a los dos hijos de Zebedeo, y comenzó a entristecerse y a angustiarse gravemente.
And taking Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along He began to be troubled and distressed.
38 Entonces les dijo: “Mi alma está muy triste, hasta la muerte. Quedaos aquí y velad conmigo”.
Then Jesus says to them: “My soul is in anguish, to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me.”
39 Se adelantó un poco, se postró sobre su rostro y oró diciendo: “Padre mío, si es posible, haz que pase de mí esta copa; pero no lo que yo quiero, sino lo que tú quieres.”
And going a little farther He fell on His face and prayed saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by; nevertheless not as I wish, but as you do.”
40 Vino a los discípulos y los encontró durmiendo, y dijo a Pedro: “¿Qué, no habéis podido velar conmigo una hora?
Then He comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping, and He says to Peter: “So, you (pl.) were not able to watch with me one hour!
41 Velad y orad, para que no entréis en tentación. El espíritu, en efecto, está dispuesto, pero la carne es débil”.
Watch and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit on its part is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Otra vez se fue y oró diciendo: “Padre mío, si esta copa no puede pasar de mí si no la bebo, hágase tu voluntad”.
And going away a second time He prayed saying, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass from me unless I drink it, let your will be done.”
43 Volvió y los encontró durmiendo, pues los ojos de ellos estaban cargados.
And coming He finds them sleeping again, because their eyes had been weighed down.
44 Los dejó de nuevo, se fue y oró por tercera vez, diciendo las mismas palabras.
So leaving them He went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing.
45 Entonces se acercó a sus discípulos y les dijo: “¿Todavía estáis durmiendo y descansando? He aquí que se acerca la hora, y el Hijo del Hombre es entregado en manos de los pecadores.
Then He comes to His disciples and says to them: “Sleep some more and take your rest! Actually, the hour is here and the Son of the Man is being betrayed into sinners' hands.
46 Levantaos, vamos. He aquí que se acerca el que me traiciona”.
Get up, let's go; see, the one who is betraying me has come!”
47 Mientras aún hablaba, he aquí que vino Judas, uno de los doce, y con él una gran multitud con espadas y palos, de parte de los sumos sacerdotes y de los ancianos del pueblo.
And while He was still speaking, there was Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 El que le entregaba les había dado una señal, diciendo: “Al que yo bese, ése es. Apresadle”.
(Now His betrayer had given them a sign saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He; take Him!”)
49 Inmediatamente se acercó a Jesús y le dijo: “¡Saludos, Rabí!”, y le besó.
And he went right up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
50 Jesús le dijo: “Amigo, ¿qué haces aquí?” Entonces vinieron y le echaron mano a Jesús, y le prendieron.
So Jesus said to him, “Friend, what brings you here?” Then approaching they laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
51 He aquí que uno de los que estaban con Jesús extendió la mano y sacó la espada, e hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja.
And then, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest he cut off his ear!
52 Entonces Jesús le dijo: “Vuelve a poner tu espada en su sitio, porque todos los que toman la espada morirán a espada.
But Jesus says to him: “Put your sword back into its place, for all who take the sword will die by the sword.
53 ¿O acaso crees que no podría pedirle a mi Padre, y que incluso ahora me enviaría más de doce legiones de ángeles?
Do you actually suppose that I cannot call upon my Father right now and He will place beside me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 ¿Cómo, pues, se cumplirían las Escrituras que deben ser así?”
But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it has to happen this way?”
55 En aquella hora, Jesús dijo a las multitudes: “¿Habéis salido como contra un ladrón con espadas y palos para prenderme? Yo me sentaba todos los días en el templo a enseñar, y no me habéis arrestado.
At that time Jesus said to the crowd: “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as against a bandit, to arrest me? I used to sit daily with you in the temple, teaching, and you did not seize me.
56 Pero todo esto ha sucedido para que se cumplan las Escrituras de los profetas.” Entonces todos los discípulos le dejaron y huyeron.
But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets should be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and ran away.
57 Los que habían prendido a Jesús lo llevaron al sumo sacerdote Caifás, donde estaban reunidos los escribas y los ancianos.
So those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 Pero Pedro le siguió de lejos hasta el patio del sumo sacerdote, y entró y se sentó con los oficiales para ver el final.
Now Peter was following Him at a distance, up to the high priest's courtyard. And going inside he sat down with the attendants, to see the end.
59 Los jefes de los sacerdotes, los ancianos y todo el consejo buscaban falsos testimonios contra Jesús para condenarlo a muerte,
The chief priests and the elders, in fact the whole Council, kept looking for false witnesses against Jesus so that they could put Him to death,
60 y no los encontraron. Aunque se presentaron muchos testigos falsos, no encontraron ninguno. Pero al fin se presentaron dos testigos falsos
but did not find any. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any. But at last two false witnesses came forward
61 y dijeron: “Este hombre dijo: ‘Puedo destruir el templo de Dios y reconstruirlo en tres días’.”
and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’”
62 El sumo sacerdote se levantó y le dijo: “¿No tienes respuesta? ¿Qué es esto que estos testifican contra ti?”
And standing up the high priest said to Him: “Do you answer nothing? What is it that these men are testifying against you?”
63 Pero Jesús guardó silencio. El sumo sacerdote le respondió: “Te conjuro por el Dios vivo que nos digas si eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios.”
But Jesus kept silent. So reacting the high priest said to Him, “I put you under oath by the Living God so that you tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God!”
64 Jesús le dijo: “Tú lo has dicho. Sin embargo, te digo que después de esto verás al Hijo del Hombre sentado a la derecha del Poder, y viniendo sobre las nubes del cielo.”
Jesus says to him: “You said it. Furthermore, I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of the Man sitting at the Power's right, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Entonces el sumo sacerdote se rasgó las vestiduras, diciendo: “¡Ha dicho una blasfemia! ¿Para qué necesitamos más testigos? Mirad, ahora habéis oído su blasfemia.
Then the high priest tore his clothes saying: “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? See, now you have heard His blasphemy!
66 ¿Qué os parece?” Ellos respondieron: “¡Es digno de muerte!”
What do you think?” So in answer they said, “He deserves death!”
67 Entonces le escupieron en la cara y le golpearon con los puños, y algunos le abofetearon,
Then they spat in His face and punched Him, while others slapped Him
68 diciendo: “¡Profetízanos, Cristo! ¿Quién te ha pegado?”
saying, “Messiah, prophesy to us! Who is the one who hit you?”
69 Pedro estaba sentado fuera, en el patio, y se le acercó una criada diciendo: “¡También tú estabas con Jesús, el galileo!”
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a certain servant girl approached him saying, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 Pero él lo negó ante todos, diciendo: “No sé de qué estáis hablando”.
But he denied before them all saying, “I don't know what you are saying.”
71 Cuando salió al pórtico, otro lo vio y dijo a los que estaban allí: “Este también estuvo con Jesús de Nazaret.”
And having gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and says to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus the Natsorean.”
72 De nuevo lo negó con un juramento: “No conozco al hombre”.
And he denied again, with an oath, “I do not know the man!”
73 Al cabo de un rato, los que estaban allí se acercaron y dijeron a Pedro: “Seguramente tú también eres uno de ellos, pues tu discurso te da a conocer.”
But a little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Really, you too are one of them, because your very accent gives you away!”
74 Entonces empezó a maldecir y a jurar: “¡No conozco a ese hombre!”. Inmediatamente cantó el gallo.
Then he began to curse and to swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.
75 Pedro se acordó de la palabra que Jesús le había dicho: “Antes de que cante el gallo, me negarás tres veces”. Entonces salió y lloró amargamente.
And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before any rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And going out he cried bitterly.
