San Mateo 23
1 Entonces Jesús habló a las multitudes y a sus discípulos,
Then spake Iesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 diciendo: “Los escribas y los fariseos se sientan en la cátedra de Moisés.
Saying, The Scribes and the Pharises sit in Moses seate.
3 Por tanto, todo lo que os digan que observéis, observadlo y hacedlo, pero no hagáis sus obras; porque ellos dicen y no hacen.
All therefore whatsoeuer they bid you obserue, that obserue and doe: but after their workes doe not: for they say, and doe not.
4 Porque atan cargas pesadas y difíciles de llevar, y las ponen sobre los hombros de los hombres; pero ellos mismos no mueven un dedo para ayudarlos.
For they binde heauie burdens, and grieuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselues will not moue them with one of their fingers.
5 Pero hacen todas sus obras para ser vistos por los hombres. Ensanchan sus filacterias y agrandan los flecos de sus vestidos,
All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments,
6 y aman el lugar de honor en las fiestas, los mejores asientos en las sinagogas,
And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies,
7 las salutaciones en las plazas, y que los hombres los llamen “Rabí, Rabí”.
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 Pero a vosotros no se os debe llamar “Rabí”, porque uno es vuestro maestro, el Cristo, y todos vosotros sois hermanos.
But be not ye called, Rabbi: for one is your doctour, to wit, Christ, and all ye are brethren.
9 No llaméis padre a nadie en la tierra, porque uno es vuestro Padre, el que está en el cielo.
And call no man your father vpon the earth: for there is but one, your father which is in heauen.
10 Ni os llaméis maestros, porque uno es vuestro maestro, el Cristo.
Be not called doctours: for one is your doctour, euen Christ.
11 Pero el que es más grande entre vosotros será vuestro servidor.
But he that is greatest among you, let him be your seruant.
12 El que se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido.
For whosoeuer will exalt himselfe, shall be brought lowe: and whosoeuer will humble himselfe, shalbe exalted.
13 “¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque devoráis las casas de las viudas, y como pretexto hacéis largas oraciones. Por eso recibiréis mayor condena.
Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in.
14 “Pero ¡ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque cerráis el Reino de los Cielos a los hombres; porque no entráis vosotros mismos, ni dejáis entrar a los que están entrando.
Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers: wherefore ye shall receiue the greater damnation.
15 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque recorréis mar y tierra para hacer un prosélito; y cuando lo es, lo hacéis dos veces más hijo de la Gehena que vosotros. (Geenna g1067)
Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye compasse sea and land to make one of your profession: and when he is made, ye make him two folde more the childe of hell, then you your selues. (Geenna g1067)
16 “¡Ay de vosotros, guías ciegos, que decís: ‘Quien jura por el templo, no es nada; pero quien jura por el oro del templo, está obligado’!
Wo be vnto you blinde guides, which say, Whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the Temple, he offendeth.
17 ¡Necios ciegos! Porque, ¿qué es más grande, el oro o el templo que santifica el oro?
Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the golde, or the Temple that sanctifieth the golde?
18 Y el que jura por el altar, no es nada; pero el que jura por la ofrenda que está sobre él, está obligado.
And whosoeuer sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the offering that is vpon it, offendeth.
19 ¡Ustedes tontos ciegos! Porque, ¿qué es más grande, el don o el altar que santifica el don?
Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering?
20 El que jura por el altar, jura por él y por todo lo que hay en él.
Whosoeuer therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
21 El que jura por el templo, jura por él y por el que ha vivido en él.
And whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
22 El que jura por el cielo, jura por el trono de Dios y por el que está sentado en él.
And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
23 “¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque diezmáis la menta, el eneldo y el comino, y habéis dejado de hacer las cosas más importantes de la ley: la justicia, la misericordia y la fe. Pero deberíais haber hecho éstas, y no haber dejado de hacer las otras.
Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other.
24 ¡Guías ciegos, que coláis un mosquito y os tragáis un camello!
Ye blinde guides, which straine out a gnat, and swallowe a camell.
25 “¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque limpiáis el exterior de la copa y del plato, pero por dentro están llenos de extorsión e injusticia.
Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye make cleane the vtter side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are ful of briberie and excesse.
26 Fariseo ciego, limpia primero el interior de la copa y del plato, para que también se limpie su exterior.
Thou blinde Pharise, cleanse first the inside of the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be cleane also.
27 “¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque sois como sepulcros blanqueados, que por fuera parecen hermosos, pero por dentro están llenos de huesos de muertos y de toda inmundicia.
Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are like vnto whited tombes, which appeare beautifull outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and all filthines.
28 Así también vosotros por fuera parecéis justos a los hombres, pero por dentro estáis llenos de hipocresía e iniquidad.
So are ye also: for outwarde ye appeare righteous vnto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquitie.
29 “¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque edificáis los sepulcros de los profetas y adornáis los sepulcros de los justos,
Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye build the tombes of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 y decís: ‘Si hubiéramos vivido en los días de nuestros padres, no habríamos participado con ellos en la sangre de los profetas’.
And say, If we had bene in the dayes of our fathers, we would not haue bene partners with them in the blood of the Prophets.
31 Por lo tanto, vosotros mismos atestiguáis que sois hijos de los que mataron a los profetas.
So then ye be witnesses vnto your selues, that ye are the children of them that murthered the Prophets.
32 Llenad, pues, la medida de vuestros padres.
Fulfill ye also ye measure of your fathers.
33 Vosotros, serpientes, descendientes de víboras, ¿cómo podréis escapar del juicio de la Gehena? (Geenna g1067)
O serpents, the generation of vipers, howe should ye escape the damnation of hell! (Geenna g1067)
34 Por tanto, he aquí que yo os envío profetas, sabios y escribas. A algunos de ellos los mataréis y crucificaréis, y a otros los azotaréis en vuestras sinagogas y los perseguiréis de ciudad en ciudad,
Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie,
35 para que caiga sobre vosotros toda la sangre justa derramada en la tierra, desde la sangre del justo Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías hijo de Baracía, a quien matasteis entre el santuario y el altar.
That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar.
36 De cierto os digo que todas estas cosas vendrán sobre esta generación.
Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation.
37 “¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, que matas a los profetas y apedreas a los que te son envíados ¡Cuántas veces quise reunir a tus hijos, como la gallina reúne a sus polluelos bajo sus alas, y no quisiste!
Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!
38 He aquí que tu casa te ha quedado desolada.
Beholde, your habitation shalbe left vnto you desolate,
39 Porque os digo que desde ahora no me veréis, hasta que digáis: “¡Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor!”
For I say vnto you, ye shall not see mee henceforth till that ye say, Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord.
