San Mateo 22
1 Respondiendo Jesús, les habló otra vez en parábolas, diciendo:
And Jesus, talking to them again in stories, said:
2 El Reino de los Cielos es semejante a cierto rey que hizo una fiesta de bodas para su hijo,
The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a feast when his son was married,
3 y envió a sus siervos a llamar a los invitados a la fiesta de bodas, pero no quisieron venir.
And sent out his servants to get in the guests to the feast: and they would not come.
4 Volvió a enviar a otros siervos, diciendo: “Decid a los invitados: “He aquí que he preparado mi cena. Mi ganado y mis animales cebados han sido sacrificados, y todo está preparado. Venid al banquete de bodas”.
Again he sent out other servants, with orders to say to the guests, See, I have made ready my feast: my oxen and my fat beasts have been put to death, and all things are ready: come to the feast.
5 Pero ellos no le dieron importancia y se fueron, uno a su finca y otro a su mercancía;
But they gave no attention, and went about their business, one to his farm, another to his trade:
6 y los demás agarraron a sus siervos, los trataron vergonzosamente y los mataron.
And the rest put violent hands on his servants, and did evil to them, and put them to death.
7 Cuando el rey se enteró, se enfureció y envió sus ejércitos, destruyó a esos asesinos y quemó su ciudad.
But the king was angry; and he sent his armies, and those who had put his servants to death he gave to destruction, burning down their town with fire.
8 “Entonces dijo a sus siervos: ‘Las bodas están preparadas, pero los invitados no eran dignos.
Then he said to his servants, The feast is ready but the guests were not good enough.
9 Id, pues, a los cruces de los caminos y, a cuantos encontréis, invitad al banquete de bodas.’
Go then to the cross-roads, and get all those whom you see to come to the bride-feast.
10 Aquellos servidores salieron a los caminos y reunieron a cuantos encontraron, tanto malos como buenos. La boda se llenó de invitados.
And those servants went out into the streets, and got together all those whom they came across, bad and good: and the feast was full of guests.
11 “Pero cuando el rey entró a ver a los invitados, vio allí a un hombre que no tenía puesto el traje de boda,
But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a guest's robe;
12 y le dijo: ‘Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí sin llevar el traje de boda?’ Se quedó sin palabras.
And he says to him, Friend, how came you in here not having a guest's robe? And he had nothing to say.
13 Entonces el rey dijo a los sirvientes: “Atadle de pies y manos, llevadle y echadle a las tinieblas exteriores. Allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes’.
Then the king said to the servants, Put cords round his hands and feet and put him out into the dark; there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
14 Porque muchos son los llamados, pero pocos los elegidos”.
For out of all to whom the good news has come, only a small number will get salvation.
15 Entonces los fariseos fueron y aconsejaron cómo podrían atraparlo en su charla.
Then the Pharisees went and had a meeting to see how they might make use of his words to take him.
16 Enviaron a sus discípulos, junto con los herodianos, diciendo: “Maestro, sabemos que eres honesto y que enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad, sin importar a quién enseñes; pues no eres parcial con nadie.
And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we see that you are true, and that you are teaching the true way of God, and have no fear of anyone, because you have no respect for a man's position.
17 Díganos, pues, ¿qué piensa usted? ¿Es lícito pagar impuestos al César, o no?”
Give us, then, your opinion of this: Is it right to give tax to Caesar, or not?
18 Pero Jesús se dio cuenta de su maldad y les dijo: “¿Por qué me ponéis a prueba, hipócritas?
But Jesus saw their trick and said, Oh false ones, why are you attempting to put me in the wrong?
19 Muéstrenme el dinero de los impuestos”. Le trajeron un denario.
Let me see the tax money. And they gave him a penny.
20 Les preguntó: “¿De quién es esta imagen y esta inscripción?”
And he said to them, Whose is this image and name on it?
21 Le dijeron: “Del César”. Entonces les dijo: “Dad al César lo que es del César y a Dios lo que es de Dios”.
They say to him, Caesar's. Then he said to them, Give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.
22 Al oírlo, se maravillaron, lo dejaron y se fueron.
And hearing it, they were full of wonder, and went away from him.
23 Aquel día se le acercaron los saduceos (los que dicen que no hay resurrección). Le preguntaron,
On the same day there came to him the Sadducees, who say that there is no coming back from the dead: and they put a question to him, saying,
24 diciendo: “Maestro, Moisés dijo: “Si un hombre muere sin tener hijos, su hermano se casará con su mujer y levantará descendencia para su hermano”.
Master, Moses said, If a man, at the time of his death, has no children, let his brother take his wife, and get a family for his brother;
25 Había entre nosotros siete hermanos. El primero se casó y murió, y al no tener descendencia dejó su mujer a su hermano.
Now there were among us seven brothers; and the first was married and at his death, having no seed, gave his wife to his brother;
26 De la misma manera, el segundo también, y el tercero, al séptimo.
In the same way the second and the third, up to the seventh.
27 Después de todos ellos, murió la mujer.
And last of all the woman came to her end.
28 En la resurrección, pues, ¿de quién será la mujer de los siete? Porque todos la tuvieron”.
When they come back from the dead, then, whose wife will she be of the seven? because they all had her.
29 Pero Jesús les respondió: “Estáis equivocados, pues no conocéis las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios.
But Jesus said to them in answer, You are in error, not having knowledge of the Writings, or of the power of God.
30 Porque en la resurrección no se casan ni se dan en matrimonio, sino que son como los ángeles de Dios en el cielo.
For when they come back from the dead there are no husbands and wives, but they are as the angels in heaven.
31 Pero en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no habéis leído lo que os ha dicho Dios,
But about the dead coming back to life, have you no knowledge of what was said to you by God in the Writings:
32 “Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob”? Dios no es el Dios de los muertos, sino de los vivos”.
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead but of the living.
33 Cuando las multitudes lo oyeron, se asombraron de su enseñanza.
And the people hearing it were surprised at his teaching.
34 Pero los fariseos, al oír que había hecho callar a los saduceos, se reunieron.
But the Pharisees, hearing how the mouths of the Sadducees had been stopped, came together;
35 Uno de ellos, un abogado, le hizo una pregunta para ponerlo a prueba.
And one of them, a teacher of the law, put a question to him, testing him, and saying,
36 “Maestro, ¿cuál es el mayor mandamiento de la ley?”
Master, which is the chief rule in the law?
37 Jesús le dijo: “Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu mente”.
And he said to him, Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 Este es el primer y gran mandamiento.
This is the first and greatest rule.
39 El segundo también es éste: “Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”.
And a second like it is this, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself.
40 Toda la ley y los profetas dependen de estos dos mandamientos”.
On these two rules all the law and the prophets are based.
41 Mientras los fariseos estaban reunidos, Jesús les hizo una pregunta,
Now while the Pharisees were together, Jesus put a question to them, saying,
42 diciendo: “¿Qué pensáis del Cristo? ¿De quién es hijo?” Le dijeron: “De David”.
What is your opinion of the Christ? whose son is he? They say to him, The Son of David.
43 Les dijo: “¿Cómo, pues, David en el Espíritu le llama Señor, diciendo,
He says to them, How then does David in the Spirit give him the name of Lord, saying,
44 ‘El Señor dijo a mi Señor, siéntate en mi diestra, hasta que haga de tus enemigos estrado para tus pies’?
The Lord said to my Lord, Be seated at my right hand, till I put under your feet all those who are against you?
45 “Si entonces David lo llama Señor, ¿cómo es su hijo?”
If David then gives him the name of Lord, how is he his son?
46 Nadie pudo responderle una palabra, ni nadie se atrevió a hacerle más preguntas desde aquel día.
And no one was able to give him an answer, and so great was their fear of him, that from that day no one put any more questions to him.
