Malaquías 2

1 “Ahora, sacerdotes, este mandamiento es para ustedes.

And now, to you [is] this charge, O priests,

2 Si no escuchan, y si no lo toman a pecho, para dar gloria a mi nombre — dice el Señor de los Ejércitos —, entonces enviaré la maldición sobre ustedes, y maldeciré sus bendiciones. De hecho, ya las he maldecido, porque no te lo tomas a pecho.

If ye hearken not, and if ye lay [it] not to heart, To give honour to My name, said Jehovah of Hosts, I have sent against you the curse, And I have cursed your blessings, Yea, I have also cursed it, Because ye are not laying [it] to heart.

3 He aquí que reprenderé a tu descendencia, y esparciré estiércol sobre tus rostros, el estiércol de tus fiestas, y serás llevado con él.

Lo, I am pushing away before you the seed, And have scattered dung before your faces, Dung of your festivals, And it hath taken you away with it.

4 Sabrás que te he enviado este mandamiento, para que mi pacto sea con Leví”, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.

And ye have known that I have sent unto you this charge, For My covenant being with Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

5 “Mi pacto fue con él de vida y de paz, y se los di para que fuera reverente hacia mí; y él fue reverente hacia mí, y estuvo en temor de mi nombre.

My covenant hath been with him of life and of peace, And I make them to him a fear, and he doth fear Me, And because of My name he hath been affrighted.

6 La ley de la verdad estaba en su boca, y la injusticia no se hallaba en sus labios. Anduvo conmigo en paz y rectitud, y apartó a muchos de la iniquidad.

The law of truth hath been in his mouth, And perverseness hath not been found in his lips, In peace and in uprightness he walked with Me, And many he brought back from iniquity.

7 Porque los labios del sacerdote deben guardar el conocimiento, y deben buscar la ley en su boca; porque él es el mensajero de Yahvé de los Ejércitos.

For the lips of a priest preserve knowledge, And law they do seek from his mouth, For a messenger of Jehovah of Hosts he [is].

8 Pero tú te has apartado del camino. Has hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley. Has corrompido el pacto de Leví”, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.

And ye, ye have turned from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble in the law, Ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

9 “Por eso también te he hecho despreciable y malvado ante todo el pueblo, según la forma en que no has guardado mis caminos, sino que has tenido respeto a las personas en la ley.

And I also, I have made you despised and low before all the people, Because ye are not keeping My ways, And are accepting persons in the law.

10 ¿No tenemos todos un solo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un solo Dios? ¿Por qué traicionamos cada uno a su hermano, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres?

Have we not all one father? Hath not our God prepared us? Wherefore do we deal treacherously, Each against his brother, To pollute the covenant of our fathers?

11 Judá ha actuado con traición, y se ha cometido una abominación en Israel y en Jerusalén; porque Judá ha profanado la santidad de Yahvé que ama, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extranjero.

Dealt treacherously hath Judah, And abomination hath been done in Israel, and in Jerusalem, For polluted hath Judah the holy thing of Jehovah, That He hath loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

12 Yahvé cortará al hombre que haga esto, al que despierte y al que responda, de las tiendas de Jacob y al que ofrezca una ofrenda a Yahvé de los Ejércitos.

Cut off doth Jehovah the man who doth it, Tempter and tempted — from the tents of Jacob, Even he who is bringing nigh a present to Jehovah of Hosts.

13 “Otra vez haces esto: cubres el altar de Yahvé con lágrimas, con llanto y con suspiros, porque él ya no considera la ofrenda ni la recibe con buena voluntad de tu mano.

And this a second time ye do, Covering with tears the altar of Jehovah, With weeping and groaning, Because there is no more turning unto the present, Or receiving of a pleasing thing from your hand.

14 Pero tú dices: “¿Por qué?” Porque Yahvé ha sido testigo entre tú y la esposa de tu juventud, contra la cual has actuado con traición, aunque es tu compañera y la esposa de tu pacto.

And ye have said, 'Wherefore?' Because Jehovah hath testified between thee And the wife of thy youth, That thou hast dealt treacherously against her, And she thy companion, and thy covenant-wife.

15 ¿Acaso no os hizo uno, aunque tenía el residuo del Espíritu? ¿Por qué uno? Buscaba una descendencia piadosa. Por lo tanto, tened cuidado con vuestro espíritu, y que nadie trate a traición a la mujer de su juventud.

And He did not make one [only], And He hath the remnant of the Spirit. And what [is] the one [alone]! He is seeking a godly seed. And ye have been watchful over your spirit, And with the wife of thy youth, None doth deal treacherously.

16 El que odia y se divorcia”, dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, “¡cubre su manto con violencia!”, dice Yahvé de los Ejércitos. “Por eso, presta atención a tu espíritu, para que no seas infiel.

For [I] hate sending away, said Jehovah, God of Israel, And He [who] hath covered violence with his clothing, said Jehovah of Hosts, And ye have been watchful over your spirit, And ye do not deal treacherously.

17 Ustedes han cansado a Yahvé con sus palabras. Sin embargo, decís: ‘¿Cómo lo hemos fatigado? En eso decís: ‘Todo el que hace el mal es bueno a los ojos de Yahvé, y él se deleita en ellos’; o ‘¿Dónde está el Dios de la justicia?’

Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words, And ye have said: 'In what have we wearied Him?' In your saying: 'Every evil-doer [is] good in the eyes of Jehovah, And in them He is delighting,' Or, 'Where [is] the God of judgment?'
