San Lucas 8
1 Poco después, recorrió ciudades y aldeas, predicando y llevando la buena noticia del Reino de Dios. Con él iban los doce,
It happened soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the Kingdom of God. With him were the twelve,
2 y algunas mujeres que habían sido curadas de espíritus malignos y enfermedades: María, que se llamaba Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios;
and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out;
3 y Juana, mujer de Chuzas, mayordomo de Herodes; Susana, y muchas otras que les servían de sus bienes.
and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward; Susanna; and many others; who provided for them from their possessions.
4 Cuando se reunió una gran multitud y acudió a él gente de todas las ciudades, habló con una parábola
When a large crowd came together, and people from every city were coming to him, he spoke by a parable.
5 “El agricultor salió a sembrar su semilla. Al sembrar, una parte cayó en el camino y fue pisoteada, y las aves del cielo la devoraron.
"The farmer went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell along the road, and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it.
6 Otra semilla cayó en la roca, y en cuanto creció, se secó, porque no tenía humedad.
Other seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture.
7 Otra cayó en medio de los espinos, y los espinos crecieron con ella y la ahogaron.
Other fell amid the thorns, and the thorns grew with it, and choked it.
8 Otra cayó en tierra buena y creció y produjo cien veces más fruto”. Mientras decía estas cosas, gritó: “El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga”.
Other fell into the good ground, and grew, and brought forth fruit one hundred times." As he said these things, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
9 Entonces sus discípulos le preguntaron: “¿Qué significa esta parábola?”
Then his disciples asked him, "What does this parable mean?"
10 Dijo: “A vosotros se os ha dado a conocer los misterios del Reino de Dios, pero a los demás se les ha dado en parábolas, para que “viendo no vean y oyendo no entiendan”.
He said, "To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables; that 'seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.'
11 “La parábola es ésta: La semilla es la palabra de Dios.
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Los que están en el camino son los que oyen; luego viene el diablo y les quita la palabra del corazón, para que no crean y se salven.
Those along the road are those who hear, then the devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.
13 Los que están sobre la roca son los que, al oír, reciben la palabra con alegría; pero éstos no tienen raíz. Creen por un tiempo, y luego caen en el tiempo de la tentación.
Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation.
14 Los que cayeron entre los espinos, éstos son los que han oído, y al seguir su camino son ahogados por los afanes, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida; y no dan fruto hasta la madurez.
That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
15 Los que están en la buena tierra, éstos son los que con corazón honesto y bueno, habiendo oído la palabra, la retienen firmemente y producen fruto con perseverancia.
That in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 “Nadie, cuando ha encendido una lámpara, la cubre con un recipiente o la pone debajo de la cama, sino que la pone sobre un soporte, para que los que entren puedan ver la luz.
"No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container, or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.
17 Porque no hay nada oculto que no se revele, ni nada secreto que no se conozca y salga a la luz.
For nothing is hidden, that will not be revealed; nor anything secret, that will not be known and come to light.
18 Tened, pues, cuidado con lo que oís. Porque al que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, se le quitará hasta lo que cree tener.”
So consider carefully how you listen. For whoever has, to him will be given; and whoever does not have, from him will be taken away even that which he thinks he has."
19 Su madre y sus hermanos se acercaron a él, pero no podían acercarse por la multitud.
His mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him for the crowd.
20 Algunas personas le dijeron: “Tu madre y tus hermanos están fuera, deseando verte”.
It was told him by some saying, "Your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to see you."
21 Pero él les respondió: “Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la cumplen.”
But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God, and do it."
22 Uno de esos días, entró en una barca, él y sus discípulos, y les dijo: “Vamos al otro lado del lago”. Y se embarcaron.
Now it happened on one of those days, that he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples, and he said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they launched out.
23 Pero mientras navegaban, se quedó dormido. Una tormenta de viento se abatió sobre el lago, y peligraban, pues se estaban anegando de agua.
But as they sailed, he fell asleep. A wind storm came down on the lake, and they were taking on dangerous amounts of water.
24 Se acercaron a él y lo despertaron, diciendo: “¡Maestro, Maestro, nos estamos muriendo!”. Él se despertó y reprendió al viento y a la furia del agua; entonces cesaron, y se calmó.
So they came to him, and awoke him, saying, "Master, master, we are dying." And he awoke, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and it was calm.
25 Les dijo: “¿Dónde está vuestra fe?”. Atemorizados, se maravillaron, diciéndose unos a otros: “¿Quién es éste, pues, que manda incluso a los vientos y a las aguas, y le obedecen?”
He said to them, "Where is your faith?" But they were terrified and astonished, saying to one another, "Who is this, then, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?"
26 Luego llegaron al país de los gadarenos, que está frente a Galilea.
They arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.
27 Cuando Jesús desembarcó, le salió al encuentro un hombre de la ciudad que tenía demonios desde hacía mucho tiempo. No llevaba ropa y no vivía en una casa, sino en los sepulcros.
And when he came out onto the land he was met by a certain man from the town who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and did not live in a house, but in the tombs.
28 Al ver a Jesús, dio un grito y se postró ante él, y con gran voz dijo: “¿Qué tengo que ver contigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes”.
When he saw Jesus, he shouted, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, "What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me."
29 Porque Jesús ordenaba al espíritu inmundo que saliera del hombre. Porque el espíritu inmundo se había apoderado muchas veces del hombre. Lo tenían vigilado y atado con cadenas y grilletes. Al romper las ataduras, el demonio lo condujo al desierto.
For Jesus was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For the unclean spirit had often seized the man. He was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bands apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.
30 Jesús le preguntó: “¿Cuál es tu nombre?” Dijo: “Legión”, porque muchos demonios habían entrado en él.
Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" He said, "Legion," for many demons had entered into him.
They pleaded with him that he would not command them to go into the abyss. (Abyssos g12)
32 Había allí una piara de muchos cerdos alimentándose en el monte, y le rogaron que les permitiera entrar en ellos. Entonces se lo permitió.
Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. He allowed them.
33 Los demonios salieron del hombre y entraron en los cerdos, y la piara se precipitó por un despeñadero al lago y se ahogó.
The demons came out from the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned.
34 Cuando los que les daban de comer vieron lo que había sucedido, huyeron y lo contaron en la ciudad y en el campo.
When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.
35 La gente salió a ver qué había pasado. Se acercaron a Jesús y encontraron al hombre del que habían salido los demonios, sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido y en su sano juicio; y se asustaron.
Then people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus' feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
36 Los que lo vieron les contaron cómo había quedado curado el que había sido poseído por los demonios.
Those who saw it told them how he who had been possessed by demons was healed.
37 Toda la gente de los alrededores de los gadarenos le pedía que se alejara de ellos, porque tenían mucho miedo. Entonces él entró en la barca y regresó.
All the people of the surrounding region of the Geresenes asked him to leave them, for they were very much afraid; and he entered into the boat and returned.
38 Pero el hombre del que habían salido los demonios le rogó que se fuera con él, pero Jesús lo despidió diciendo:
But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him that he might go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 “Vuelve a tu casa y anuncia las grandes cosas que Dios ha hecho contigo.” Él se fue, proclamando por toda la ciudad las grandes cosas que Jesús había hecho por él.
"Return to your house, and declare what great things God has done for you." He went his way, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.
40 Cuando Jesús regresó, la multitud le dio la bienvenida, pues todos le esperaban.
When Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him.
41 Llegó un hombre llamado Jairo. Era un jefe de la sinagoga. Se postró a los pies de Jesús y le rogó que entrara en su casa,
And look, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. He fell down at Jesus' feet, and pleaded with him to come into his house,
42 porque tenía una hija única, de unos doce años, que se estaba muriendo. Pero mientras iba, las multitudes le apretaban.
for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went, the crowds pressed against him.
43 Una mujer que tenía un flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años, que había gastado todo su sustento en médicos y no podía ser curada por ninguno,
A woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years (who had spent all her living on physicians) and could not be healed by any,
44 se acercó por detrás de él y tocó los flecos de su manto. Al instante, el flujo de su sangre se detuvo.
came behind him, and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately the flow of her blood stopped.
45 Jesús dijo: “¿Quién me ha tocado?” Cuando todos lo negaron, Pedro y los que estaban con él dijeron: “Maestro, las multitudes te apretujan y empujan, y tú dices: “¿Quién me ha tocado?””.
Jesus said, "Who touched me?" When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, "Master, the crowds press and jostle you."
46 Pero Jesús dijo: “Alguien me ha tocado, porque he percibido que el poder ha salido de mí”.
But Jesus said, "Someone did touch me, for I perceived that power has gone out of me."
47 La mujer, al ver que no se ocultaba, se acercó temblando y, postrándose ante él, le declaró en presencia de todo el pueblo la razón por la que le había tocado y cómo había quedado curada al instante.
When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared to him in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 Él le dijo: “Hija, anímate. Tu fe te ha sanado. Vete en paz”.
He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace."
49 Mientras aún hablaba, se acercó uno de la casa del jefe de la sinagoga, diciéndole: “Tu hija ha muerto. No molestes al Maestro”.
While he still spoke, one from the ruler of the synagogue's house came, saying to him, "Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher."
50 Pero Jesús, al oírlo, le respondió: “No temas. Sólo cree, y quedará sanada”.
But Jesus hearing it, answered him, "Do not be afraid. Only believe, and she will be healed."
51 Cuando llegó a la casa, no dejó entrar a nadie, excepto a Pedro, Juan, Santiago, el padre de la niña y su madre.
When he came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter in with him, except Peter, John, James, the father of the child, and her mother.
52 Todos lloraban y la lloraban, pero él dijo: “No lloréis. No está muerta, sino que duerme”.
All were weeping and mourning her, but he said, "Do not weep. She is not dead, but sleeping."
53 Se burlaban de él, sabiendo que estaba muerta.
They were ridiculing him, knowing that she was dead.
54 Pero él los echó a todos fuera, y tomándola de la mano, la llamó diciendo: “¡Niña, levántate!”
But he, taking her by the hand, called, saying, "Child, arise."
55 El espíritu de la niña volvió y se levantó enseguida. Mandó que le dieran de comer.
Her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately. He commanded that something be given to her to eat.
56 Sus padres se asombraron, pero él les ordenó que no dijeran a nadie lo que había sucedido.
Her parents were amazed, but he commanded them to tell no one what had been done.
