San Lucas 7
1 Cuando terminó de hablar a la gente, entró en Capernaum.
When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
2 El siervo de un centurión, que le era muy querido, estaba enfermo y a punto de morir.
There a centurion's servant, who was highly regarded by his master, was sick and about to die.
3 Cuando oyó hablar de Jesús, le envió a los ancianos de los judíos, pidiéndole que viniera a sanar a su siervo.
The centurion heard about Jesus and sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
4 Cuando llegaron a Jesús, le rogaron encarecidamente, diciendo: “Es digno de que hagas esto por él,
When they came to Jesus, they earnestly pleaded with him, saying, “This man is worthy to have yoʋ do this for him,
5 porque ama a nuestra nación y nos ha construido nuestra sinagoga.”
for he loves our nation and built our synagogue for us.”
6 Jesús fue con ellos. Cuando ya no estaba lejos de la casa, el centurión envió a sus amigos a decirle: “Señor, no te preocupes, porque no soy digno de que entres bajo mi techo.
So Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yoʋrself, for I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof;
7 Por eso ni siquiera me he considerado digno de venir a ti; pero di la palabra, y mi criado quedará sano.
therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to yoʋ. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 Porque también yo soy un hombre puesto bajo autoridad, que tiene bajo su mando soldados. A éste le digo: “Ve”, y va; a otro: “Ven”, y viene; y a mi siervo: “Haz esto”, y lo hace”.
For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 Cuando Jesús oyó estas cosas, se maravilló de él y, volviéndose, dijo a la multitud que le seguía: “Os digo que no he encontrado una fe tan grande, ni siquiera en Israel.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at the centurion. And turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”
10 Los enviados, al volver a la casa, encontraron que el siervo que había estado enfermo estaba bien.
Then the men the centurion had sent returned to the house and found that the servant who had been sick was well.
11 Poco después, fue a una ciudad llamada Naín. Muchos de sus discípulos, junto con una gran multitud, iban con él.
Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and many of his disciples went with him, along with a large crowd.
12 Cuando se acercó a la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí que sacaban a un muerto, hijo único de su madre, que era viuda. La acompañaba mucha gente de la ciudad.
As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the one and only son of his mother (who was a widow). And a large crowd from the town was with her.
13 Al verla, el Señor se compadeció de ella y le dijo: “No llores”.
When the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
14 Se acercó y tocó el féretro, y los portadores se detuvieron. Dijo: “Joven, te digo que te levantes”.
Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who were carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to yoʋ, arise!”
15 El que estaba muerto se sentó y empezó a hablar. Luego se lo entregó a su madre.
So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 El temor se apoderó de todos, y glorificaron a Dios, diciendo: “¡Ha surgido un gran profeta entre nosotros!” y “¡Dios ha visitado a su pueblo!”
Then all the people were filled with awe and began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us,” and, “God has visited his people.”
17 Esta noticia se difundió sobre él en toda Judea y en toda la región circundante.
This news about Jesus then spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding region.
18 Los discípulos de Juan le contaron todas estas cosas.
John's disciples told him about all these things.
19 Juan, llamando a dos de sus discípulos, los envió a Jesús, diciendo: “¿Eres tú el que viene, o debemos buscar a otro?”
So John called two of his disciples and sent them to ask Jesus, “Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?”
20 Cuando los hombres se acercaron a él, dijeron: “Juan el Bautista nos ha enviado a ti, diciendo: “¿Eres tú el que viene, o debemos buscar a otro?”
When the men came to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to yoʋ to ask, ‘Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?’”
21 En aquella hora curó a muchos de enfermedades y plagas y espíritus malignos; y a muchos ciegos les dio la vista.
Now in that very hour Jesus had healed many people of diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.
22 Jesús les respondió: “Id y contad a Juan lo que habéis visto y oído: que los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, los leprosos quedan limpios, los sordos oyen, los muertos resucitan y a los pobres se les anuncia la buena nueva.
So Jesus replied to John's disciples, “Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23 Dichoso el que no encuentra en mí ocasión de tropezar”.
And blessed is anyone who does not take offense at me.”
24 Cuando los mensajeros de Juan se marcharon, comenzó a decir a las multitudes sobre Juan: “¿Qué salisteis a ver al desierto? ¿Una caña agitada por el viento?
When John's messengers had gone away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25 Pero, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un hombre vestido con ropas finas? He aquí que los que se visten de forma elegante y viven con deleites están en las cortes de los reyes.
What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and who live in luxury are in royal palaces.
26 Pero, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un profeta? Sí, os digo, y mucho más que un profeta.
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
27 Este es aquel de quien está escrito, ‘He aquí que envío a mi mensajero ante tu rostro, que te preparará el camino delante de ti.’
This is the one of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of yoʋ, who will prepare yoʋr way before yoʋ.’
28 “Porque os digo que entre los nacidos de mujer no hay mayor profeta que Juan el Bautista; pero el más pequeño en el Reino de Dios es mayor que él.”
For I tell you, among those born of women there is no prophet greater than John the Baptist, but whoever is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29 Al oír esto, todo el pueblo y los recaudadores de impuestos declararon que Dios era justo, pues habían sido bautizados con el bautismo de Juan.
(When all the people heard this, including the tax collectors, they affirmed that God's way was right, because they had been baptized with the baptism of John.
30 Pero los fariseos y los letrados rechazaron el consejo de Dios, no siendo ellos mismos bautizados por él.
But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
31 “¿Con qué debo comparar a la gente de esta generación? ¿A qué se parecen?
Jesus went on to say, “To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?
32 Son como niños que se sientan en el mercado y se llaman unos a otros, diciendo: ‘Te cantamos, y no bailaste. Nosotros nos lamentamos, y vosotros no llorasteis’.
They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call out to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we sang a lament for you, but you did not weep.’
33 Porque Juan el Bautista no vino ni a comer pan ni a beber vino, y vosotros decís: ‘Tiene un demonio’.
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34 El Hijo del Hombre ha venido comiendo y bebiendo, y vosotros decís: ‘He aquí un comilón y un borracho, amigo de recaudadores y pecadores.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
35 La sabiduría es justificada por todos sus hijos”.
Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”
36 Uno de los fariseos le invitó a comer con él. Entró en la casa del fariseo y se sentó a la mesa.
One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, so he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table.
37 He aquí que una mujer pecadora de la ciudad, al saber que él estaba reclinado en casa del fariseo, trajo un frasco de alabastro con ungüento.
And behold, when a woman in that city who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38 Se puso detrás, a sus pies, llorando, y comenzó a mojarle los pies con sus lágrimas, y se los secó con los cabellos de su cabeza, le besó los pies y se los untó con el ungüento.
As she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Al verla, el fariseo que le había invitado se dijo: “Este hombre, si fuera profeta, se habría dado cuenta de quién y qué clase de mujer es la que le toca, que es una pecadora.”
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesús le respondió: “Simón, tengo algo que decirte”. Él dijo: “Maestro, dígalo”.
Jesus said to him in response, “Simon, I have something to say to yoʋ.” So he said, “Say it, Teacher.”
41 “Un prestamista tenía dos deudores. Uno debía quinientos denarios y el otro cincuenta.
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. The one owed him five hundred denarii, and the other owed him fifty.
42 Como no podían pagar, les perdonó a los dos. ¿Cuál de ellos lo amará más?”
When they did not have the means to repay, he forgave the debts of them both. So tell me, which of them will love him more?”
43 Simón respondió: “Aquel, supongo, al que más perdonó”. Le dijo: “Has juzgado correctamente”.
Simon answered, “I suppose that it would be the one for whom he forgave the larger debt.” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have judged correctly.”
44 Volviéndose a la mujer, dijo a Simón: “¿Ves a esta mujer? Entré en tu casa y no me diste agua para mis pies, pero ella ha mojado mis pies con sus lágrimas y los ha enjugado con el pelo de su cabeza.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do yoʋ see this woman? When I came into yoʋr house, yoʋ did not give me water for my feet, but this woman has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45 No me diste ningún beso, pero ella, desde que entré, no ha dejado de besar mis pies.
Yoʋ did not give me a kiss, but from the time I came in, this woman has not stopped kissing my feet.
46 Tú no ungiste mi cabeza con aceite, pero ella ha ungido mis pies con ungüento.
Yoʋ did not anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Por eso os digo que sus pecados, que son muchos, le han sido perdonados, porque ha amado mucho. Pero a quien se le perdona poco, ama poco”.
Therefore I tell yoʋ, her many sins are forgiven; that is why she has shown great love. But he to whom little is forgiven shows little love.”
48 Y le dijo: “Tus pecados están perdonados”.
Then Jesus said to her, “Yoʋr sins are forgiven.”
49 Los que se sentaban a la mesa con él empezaron a decirse: “¿Quién es éste que hasta perdona los pecados?”
Those who were reclining at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man that even forgives sins?”
50 Le dijo a la mujer: “Tu fe te ha salvado. Ve en paz”.
And Jesus said to the woman, “Yoʋr faith has saved yoʋ; go in peace.”
