1 Entonces salieron todos los hijos de Israel, y la congregación se reunió como un solo hombre, desde Dan hasta Beersheba, con la tierra de Galaad, a Yahvé en Mizpa.

Then went out all the children of Israel, and the congregation was assembled together as one man, from Dan even to Beer-sheba', with the land of Gil'ad, unto the Lord in Mizpah.

2 Los jefes de todo el pueblo, de todas las tribus de Israel, se presentaron en la asamblea del pueblo de Dios, cuatrocientos mil hombres de a pie que sacaban espada.

and there presented themselves the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand men on foot that drew the sword.

3 (Los hijos de Benjamín oyeron que los hijos de Israel habían subido a Mizpa). Los hijos de Israel dijeron: “Díganos, ¿cómo ha ocurrido esta maldad?”

(And the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpah.) And the children of Israel said, Speak, how did this wickedness take place?

4 El levita, esposo de la mujer asesinada, respondió: “Vine a Gabaa que pertenece a Benjamín, yo y mi concubina, a pasar la noche.

And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was murdered, answered and said, I came to Gib'ah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to stay one night,

5 Los hombres de Guibeá se levantaron contra mí y rodearon la casa de noche. Tenían la intención de matarme y violaron a mi concubina, y ella está muerta.

When the men of Gib'ah rose against me, and beset the house round about against me by night; me they intended to slay; and my concubine they humbled, so that she died.

6 Tomé a mi concubina y la corté en pedazos, y la envié por todo el país de la heredad de Israel; porque han cometido lujuria y locura en Israel.

And I took hold of my concubine and cut her in pieces, and sent her about throughout all the fields of the inheritance of Israel; for they had committed incest and scandal in Israel.

7 Mirad, hijos de Israel, todos vosotros, dad aquí vuestro consejo y asesoramiento.”

Behold, ye are all here children of Israel: furnish for yourselves here advice and counsel.

8 Todo el pueblo se levantó como un solo hombre, diciendo: “Ninguno de nosotros irá a su tienda, ni se volverá a su casa.

And all the people then arose as one man, saying, We will not go any of us to his tent, neither will we turn any of us into his house.

9 Pero ahora esto es lo que haremos a Gabaa: subiremos contra ella por sorteo;

And now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gib'ah: We will go up against it by lot;

10 y tomaremos diez hombres de cien en todas las tribus de Israel, y cien de mil, y mil de diez mil para conseguir comida para el pueblo, para que hagan, cuando lleguen a Gabaa de Benjamín, según toda la locura que los hombres de Gabaa han hecho en Israel.”

And we will take ten men out of every hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred out of every thousand, and a thousand out of every ten thousand, to procure provisions for the people; that they may do, when they come to Gib'ah of Benjamin, in accordance with all the scandalous deed that they have wrought in Israel.

11 Así que todos los hombres de Israel se reunieron contra la ciudad, unidos como un solo hombre.

So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, associated together as one man.

12 Las tribus de Israel enviaron hombres por toda la tribu de Benjamín, diciendo: “¿Qué maldad es ésta que ha ocurrido entre ustedes?

And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the divisions of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that hath been done among you?

13 Entregad, pues, ahora a los hombres, a los malvados que están en Gabaa, para que los matemos y eliminemos el mal de Israel.” Pero Benjamín no quiso escuchar la voz de sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel.

Now therefore deliver up the men, those worthless people, who are in Gib'ah, that we may put them to death, and remove evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel.

14 Los hijos de Benjamín se reunieron de las ciudades en Gabaa, para salir a combatir contra los hijos de Israel.

And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gib'ah, to go out to battle with the children of Israel.

15 Aquel día se contaron entre los hijos de Benjamín, de las ciudades, veintiséis mil hombres que sacaban la espada, además de los habitantes de Gabaa, que fueron contados como setecientos hombres escogidos.

And at that time there were numbered of the children of Benjamin out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew the sword, beside the inhabitants of Gib'ah, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men.

16 Entre todos estos soldados había setecientos hombres escogidos que eran zurdos. Cada uno de ellos podía lanzar una piedra a un pelo y no fallar.

Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lame in the right hand: every one of these could sling a stone at a hair, and would not miss.

17 Entre los hombres de Israel, además de Benjamín, se contaban cuatrocientos mil hombres que sacaban espada. Todos ellos eran hombres de guerra.

And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew the sword: all these were men of war.

18 Los hijos de Israel se levantaron, subieron a Betel y pidieron consejo a Dios. Preguntaron: “¿Quién subirá por nosotros primero a la batalla contra los hijos de Benjamín?”. Yahvé dijo: “Primero Judá”.

And they arose, and went up to Beth-el, and asked counsel of God; and the children of Israel said, Who of us shall go up at first to the battle with the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Judah, at first.

19 Los hijos de Israel se levantaron por la mañana y acamparon contra Gabaa.

And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gib'ah.

20 Los hombres de Israel salieron a combatir contra Benjamín, y los hombres de Israel se pusieron en guardia contra ellos en Gabaa.

And the men of Israel went out to battle with Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in battle-array against them by Gib'ah.

21 Los hijos de Benjamín salieron de Gabaa y aquel día destruyeron hasta el suelo a veintidós mil hombres israelitas.

And the Children of Benjamin came forth out of Gib'ah, and struck down to the ground of the Israelites on that day twenty and two thousand men.

22 El pueblo, los hombres de Israel, se animaron y volvieron a preparar la batalla en el lugar donde la habían preparado el primer día.

And the people the men of Israel took courage, and set themselves again in battle-array in the place where they had arrayed themselves on the first day.

23 Los hijos de Israel subieron y lloraron ante Yahvé hasta la noche, y preguntaron a Yahvé diciendo: “¿Debo acercarme de nuevo a la batalla contra los hijos de Benjamín, mi hermano?” Yahvé dijo: “Sube contra él”.

And the children of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until the evening, and asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I again approach to battle with the children of Benjamin my brother? And the Lord said, Go up against him.

24 Los hijos de Israel se acercaron a los hijos de Benjamín el segundo día.

And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin on the second day.

25 El segundo día salió Benjamín contra ellos desde Gabaa, y volvió a destruir hasta el suelo a dieciocho mil hombres de los hijos de Israel. Todos estos sacaron la espada.

And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gib'ah on the second day, and struck down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men: all these were men that drew the sword.

26 Entonces subieron todos los hijos de Israel y todo el pueblo, y vinieron a Betel, y lloraron, y se sentaron allí delante de Yahvé, y ayunaron aquel día hasta la tarde; luego ofrecieron holocaustos y ofrendas de paz delante de Yahvé.

Now all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto Beth-el, and wept, and sat there before the Lord, and fasted on that day until the evening, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before the Lord.

27 Los hijos de Israel preguntaron a Yahvé (porque el arca de la alianza de Dios estaba allí en aquellos días,

And the children of Israel inquired of the Lord, (for there was the ark of the covenant of God in those days,

28 y Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, estaba delante de ella en aquellos días), diciendo: “¿Saldré aún a la batalla contra los hijos de Benjamín, mi hermano, o me detendré?” Yahvé dijo: “Sube, porque mañana lo entregaré en tu mano”.

And Phinehas, the son of Elazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days, ) saying, shall I yet continue to go out to battle with the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I forbear? And the Lord said, Go up; for tomorrow will I deliver him into thy hand.

29 Israel tendió emboscadas alrededor de Gabaa.

And Israel sent men to lie in wait round about Gib'ah.

30 Los hijos de Israel subieron contra los hijos de Benjamín al tercer día, y se pusieron en guardia contra Gabaa, como otras veces.

And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gib'ah, as at previous times.

31 Los hijos de Benjamín salieron contra el pueblo, y se alejaron de la ciudad; y comenzaron a golpear y a matar del pueblo como otras veces, en los caminos, de los cuales uno sube a Betel y el otro a Gabaa, en el campo, a unos treinta hombres de Israel.

And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite some of the people, and kill, as at previous times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to Beth-el, and the other to Gib'ah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

32 Los hijos de Benjamín dijeron: “Han caído ante nosotros, como al principio”. Pero los hijos de Israel dijeron: “Huyamos y alejémoslos de la ciudad hacia los caminos”.

And the children of Benjamin said, They are defeated before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city unto the highways.

33 Todos los hombres de Israel se levantaron de su lugar y se pusieron en guardia ante Baal Tamar. Entonces los emboscados de Israel salieron de su lugar, incluso de Maareh Geba.

And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Ba'al-thamar: and those that lay in wait of Israel rushed forth out of their place, out of the meadows of Gib'ah.

34 Diez mil hombres escogidos de todo Israel se acercaron a Gabaa, y la batalla fue dura; pero no sabían que el desastre estaba cerca de ellos.

And there came against Gib'ah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was severe; but they knew not that the evil was overtaking them.

35 El Señor hirió a Benjamín delante de Israel, y los hijos de Israel destruyeron aquel día a veinticinco mil cien hombres de Benjamín. Todos ellos sacaron la espada.

And the Lord smote Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites on that day twenty and five thousand and one hundred men: all these were those that drew the sword.

36 Los hijos de Benjamín se dieron cuenta de que habían sido golpeados, pues los hombres de Israel cedieron ante Benjamín porque confiaban en los emboscadores que habían puesto contra Guibeá.

And the children of Benjamin saw that they were defeated; for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto those that lay in wait whom they had set against Gib'ah.

37 Los emboscadores se apresuraron y se abalanzaron sobre Gabaa; entonces los emboscadores se desplegaron e hirieron a toda la ciudad a filo de espada.

And those in ambush hastened, and spread themselves over Gib'ah; and those that lay in wait moved along, and smote all the city with the edge of the sword.

38 La señal que se había establecido entre los hombres de Israel y los emboscados era que hicieran salir de la ciudad una gran nube de humo.

Now there was an understanding between the men of Israel and those that lay in wait, that they should make an abundance of columns of smoke rise up out of the city.

39 Los hombres de Israel se volvieron en la batalla, y Benjamín comenzó a golpear y a matar de los hombres de Israel a unas treinta personas, pues decían: “Ciertamente han sido derribados delante de nosotros, como en la primera batalla.”

And when the men of Israel turned round in the battle, and Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons; for they said, Surely they are entirely defeated before us, as in the first battle:

40 Pero cuando la nube comenzó a levantarse de la ciudad en forma de columna de humo, los benjaminitas miraron a sus espaldas, y he aquí que toda la ciudad subía en humo hacia el cielo.

Then began the cloud to arise up out of the city as a pillar of smoke; and when the Benjamites looked behind them, behold, the flames of all the city were ascending up to heaven.

41 Los hombres de Israel se volvieron, y los de Benjamín quedaron consternados, pues vieron que les había sobrevenido un desastre.

And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed; for they saw that the evil had overtaken them.

42 Por lo tanto, volvieron la espalda ante los hombres de Israel hacia el camino del desierto, pero la batalla los siguió con fuerza, y los que salieron de las ciudades los destruyeron en medio de ella.

Therefore they turned round before the men of Israel unto the way to the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and those who came out of the cities destroyed them in the midst of them.

43 Rodearon a los benjamitas, los persiguieron y los pisotearon en su lugar de descanso, hasta cerca de Gabaa, hacia el amanecer.

They enclosed the Benjamites round about, chased them, they overtook them in their places of rest, as far as opposite to Gib'ah toward the rising of the sun.

44 Cayeron dieciocho mil hombres de Benjamín; todos ellos eran hombres de valor.

And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men: all these were men of valor.

45 Se volvieron y huyeron hacia el desierto, a la roca de Rimón. Destruyeron a cinco mil hombres de ellos en los caminos, y los siguieron con empeño hasta Gidom, e hirieron a dos mil hombres de ellos.

And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon; and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and they pursued hard after them as far as Gid'om, and slew of them two thousand men.

46 De modo que todos los que cayeron aquel día de Benjamín fueron veinticinco mil hombres que sacaron la espada. Todos ellos eran hombres de valor.

So that all who fell on that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword: all these were men of valor.

47 Pero seiscientos hombres se volvieron y huyeron hacia el desierto, a la roca de Rimón, y se quedaron en la roca de Rimón cuatro meses.

But six hundred men turned and fled into the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and they abode on the rock Rimmon four months.

48 Los hombres de Israel se volvieron de nuevo contra los hijos de Benjamín y los hirieron a filo de espada, incluyendo toda la ciudad, el ganado y todo lo que encontraron. Además, incendiaron todas las ciudades que encontraron.

And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beasts, and all that was found: also all the cities that they came upon did they set on fire.
